Qin Yi stared at her smiling eyes, and certain images from the cave flashed through his mind. He lowered his eyes to hide the strangeness in them.
"You saved me, what do you want?"
Nanqianyue raised an eyebrow slightly and joked, "I want your wealth and fortune, will you give it to me or not?"
Qin Yi composed himself, remained silent for a few seconds, and then nodded. "Here you go."
Nanqianyue chuckled, not taking his words seriously. "How did you end up lying in that valley? Did you fall in?"
Qin Yi paused for a moment, then answered truthfully, "I was ambushed and fell down."
"And you?" he asked.
The moon remained unchanged as it moved south, and a half-truth, half-lies came out of his mouth: "I only remember suddenly falling into the water, struggling to swim ashore, and then meeting you. I don't remember anything else."
Qin Yi stared into her eyes and asked, "What about your home? Have you forgotten that too?"
Nanqianyue's pupils flickered slightly, and her lie sounded very convincing. "Well, I don't remember any of it. I only remember my name. As for where I came from and why I fell off the cliff... I've forgotten."
She thought she had acted very well, little did she know that Qin Yi didn't believe her at all, but he didn't think of asking any more questions.
"In two months, I will return to the capital and take you with me. Perhaps we can find your parents in the capital."
Nanqianyue looked conflicted. She didn't want to go too far, in case the way back was in that valley.
"We'll see," she said with a slight smile.

Why does Miss Nan look so haggard?
Nanqianyue approached Baishu with drooping shoulders and said pitifully, "I want to eat something good, otherwise I'll really be going to heaven."
Bai Shu couldn't help but chuckle. He glanced at the patrolling soldiers, covered his mouth with his hand, and whispered, "I've set traps for wild animals on the mountain, and I'm going to collect them now. Want to come along?"
Nanqianyue's eyes lit up, "Go, go, go!"
Qin Yi emerged from the marshal's tent, covered in wounds. As he headed towards the council tent, two figures walked past him, pulling and whispering among themselves.
"Brother Bai, I've never had pheasant soup before. Do you know how to make it?"
"Don't worry, Yue, my cooking skills are pretty good."
Qin Yi watched the departing figure, his brows furrowing deeper and deeper.
Brother Bai...A-Yue...
When did Bai Shu become so close to her?
