Chapter 229 I, the King, can take responsibility for what happened today. (shuhaige.net)

The southward-migrating moon was in good physical condition and swam for a good half hour.

She hummed a cheerful tune as she washed herself, the misty steam veiling her in a mysterious white veil, the water droplets on her fair, jade-like skin shimmering with starlight.

Suddenly, a long sigh echoed from the woods, "Alas! I clearly remember there were several dendrobium plants here, where did they go?"

Nanqianyue opened her eyes wide. What's Brother Bai doing here?!

She quickly plunged into the water and swam towards the deeper area, behind the large rocks.

To avoid the embarrassment of being discovered, she swam very slowly in the water, and after swimming to the area behind the large rock, she slowly emerged from the water, afraid of making a big fuss.

However, as soon as she surfaced, she let out a scream.

Thankfully, someone covered my mouth, and I heard a man say "Shh" in my ear.

The little incident caused quite a stir.

"Is anyone there?" Bai Shu's voice came from the shore.

Qin Yi frowned slightly and opened his mouth, "It is I who will go to other places to gather herbs."

Bai Shu suddenly realized, and clasped his hands towards the big stone, "So it's Your Highness. I'll find another place right away."

Bai Shu turned and left, but out of the corner of her eye she caught a glimpse of familiar clothes draped on a tree branch to the side.

He turned around and looked closely; it was Ah Yue's clothes!

He seemed to have discovered something extraordinary, and turned back to look at the large rock in the water again.

"Why aren't you leaving yet?" Qin Yi urged impatiently.

Bai Shu forced a smile and nodded repeatedly, "I'll go right away, I'll go right away!" He quickly ran off.

Behind the large rock, Nanqianyue stared wide-eyed at the man before her, her anger rising from her heart.

"Mmm!" She gestured for Qin Yi to let go.

Qin Yi's expression was strange as he slowly removed his hand.

Snap—

Nanqianyue slapped him across the face and yelled, "You shameless voyeur! You disgusting man! And your hands down there! Who gave you permission to hug me! Let go!"

She kicked and punched him from above and below, and Qin Yi had no choice but to release her waist.

However, due to emotional distress and being in deep water, Nanqianyue suddenly lost Qin Yi's support and drowned without warning.

Qin Yi's eyes widened in panic, and he quickly scooped the person up, asking, "Are you alright?"

"Cough cough cough..."

Nanqianyue coughed violently, then started gagging, muttering between retches, "Ugh... I actually drank your bathwater, you filthy scoundrel! Ugh!"

Qin Yi's expression darkened slightly. "It was indeed my bathwater, because I arrived before you."

"What?" Nan Qianyue exclaimed incredulously, "You didn't come with me?"

Qin Yi smiled enigmatically. "You're overthinking it. I often come here to bathe, but I've been injured lately and it's inconvenient for me to come."

Nanqianyue frowned, "Then why didn't you say anything when you heard someone coming?!"

Qin Yi said calmly, "I didn't hear you. I only noticed when you started swimming. But to avoid embarrassing you, I hid behind this rock and waited until you left before coming out. Who knew you would swim over by yourself?"

Nanqian Yue was in a hurry, saying, "I swam over here because Brother Bai came!"

"And besides, I walk so loudly, how could you not hear me? You're lying!"

Qin Yi remained expressionless, showing no sign of lying. "My wound hurts, I really didn't hear anything."

"Wound?" Nan Qianyue lowered her eyes, her gaze falling on his chest, where a three-inch-long wound was still scabbed over.

“The scars haven’t even fallen off yet, how can you take a bath, you…” Nan Qianyue’s voice stopped abruptly.

Because she noticed Qin Yi's gaze hurriedly shift away from her chest.

Snap—

Another slap landed.

Nanqianyue clutched her chest and shouted, "Where are you looking? Believe me or not, I'll gouge your eyes out!"

This time, Qin Yi didn't explain. He turned his face away, his Adam's apple bobbing, his ears turning bright red. "Go ashore by yourself, or I'll take you there."

His voice became uncontrollably hoarse.

Nanqianyue pushed him away, "I'll go myself! Close your eyes and don't peek!"

Qin Yi obediently closed his eyes.

Nanqianyue swam to the shore at the fastest speed she had ever seen, quickly dressed, and ran into the woods without looking back.

The woman in red, carrying two large wild rabbits, bumped into her. "Miss Nan, why are you in such a hurry? What happened?"

Panting, Nanqianyue waved her hand, "No, we just encountered a wild boar."

"A wild boar!" the woman in red exclaimed, perking up. "How big is it? Where is it? I'm going to catch it!"

Nanqianyue gave an awkward smile, "I'm afraid you wouldn't dare to arrest me."

The woman in red, her competitive spirit successfully aroused, handed the rabbit to Nan Qianyue and drew her sharp dagger. "It's in the direction of the water source, right? I'll catch it and bring it back to Miss Nan and the Prince to improve their meals!"

The woman in red bent her legs, about to fly up into the tree branch, when a dark figure suddenly appeared in her line of sight.

She quickly bowed, "Your Highness."

Qin Yi's indifferent gaze fell on the top of her head. "Don't come back if you don't catch it."

The woman in red was puzzled, but remained confident, "Yes!"

With the prince's support, the woman in red flew even faster and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Nanqianyue glanced at Qin Yi with annoyance, "Aren't you deliberately making things difficult for Hongyi? Where are the wild boars?"

Qin Yi glanced at her calmly, "Didn't you say we encountered a wild boar?"

I was talking about...you!

Nan Qianyue shut up immediately, glared at him, and turned to leave angrily.

...That night.

Nanqianyue sat listlessly beside the extinguished fire, slowly spinning a bamboo stick skewered with a sweet potato in her hand.

"That's not how you roast sweet potatoes," Qin Yi's voice rang in my ears.

He sat down next to Nan Qianyue, took the bamboo stick from her hand, removed the sweet potato, then dug into the fire and buried the sweet potato inside.
