Chapter 229 I can take responsibility for what happened today.

Nanqianyue frowned. "How can we eat this when it's all covered in dust?"

A strange light flashed in Qin Yi's eyes, and he began to speculate about her past life.

She must have lived a life of luxury.

Unfamiliar with basic labor, extremely picky about food, soft fingers, and smooth, delicate skin—all these signs prove it.

"Do you eat the skin?" Qin Yi asked casually.

Nanqianyue was completely bewildered, "Of course I won't eat it."

Qin Yi pointed with his chin to the sweet potatoes buried in the fire, "The ash is on the skin."

Nanqianyue rolled her eyes around and said, "Oh, it seems so."

Qin Yi gave a faint, almost imperceptible smile, but then pursed his lips, his expression growing increasingly serious.

He took a deep breath, turned and looked at Nan Qianyue seriously, "I can take responsibility for what happened today."

Nan Qianyue's lips twitched violently. "I appreciate your kindness, but it's alright."

"Why?" Qin Yi frowned slightly.

The moon, slanting across the sky, glanced at him and said, "Because I don't like you."

Qin Yi's face darkened, and he said in a muffled voice, "I have no interest in you either, but I am willing to take responsibility for you out of conscience."

Nanqianyue smiled and clapped, "Wow, your conscience is truly great!"

Qin Yi's expression grew increasingly grim. He stood up, looking down at her, "You only get one chance. You're the one who didn't want it. If you regret it, don't blame me."

After saying that, he turned and left.

As the moon shone southwards, it said to his departing figure, "Don't worry, I'll never rely on you, no matter who else I'm with."

Upon hearing this, Qin Yi quickened his pace.

...The time spent in the military camp passed slowly and arduously.

Nanqianyue tried many ways to leave, but all of them ended in failure.

That day, the woman in red offered to take her to the mountains to bathe.

Nanqianyue nodded listlessly and followed Hongyi into the woods.

As luck would have it, the wild boar that the woman in red had been longing for actually appeared.

The wild boar originally intended to attack the two women, but realizing it was no match for the woman in red, it turned tail and ran.

"Miss Nan, you go wash first, I'll go catch a wild boar!" The woman in red leaped into the air.

The person who moved south clapped on the spot, saying, "Amazing!"

For a moment, she was the only one left in the quiet forest.

Nanqianyue warily watched her surroundings, afraid that another wild boar might run out. Now there was no one to help her; if the wild boar came, she would have no choice but to run away.

Run away...!

The Southern Migration Month finally realized that this was the perfect opportunity to slip away!
