Chapter 31 There is an assassin

"Auntie!"

Nanqianyue called out to the woman who was crouching in the alley, preparing to slip away, a cryptic smile playing on her lips.

The woman froze on the spot, too afraid to run away or turn around.

Seeing this, Yang Hua hurriedly pleaded on behalf of the woman, "Miss, I have offended you that day. If you have any grievances, please punish me. Aunt Zhang did not offend you on purpose."

Aunt Zhang slowly turned around as she listened to Yang Hua's words. She walked out of the alley with her head down and stood very reservedly in front of Nan Qianyue.

"Please don't blame General Yang, young lady. It was I who was blind and offended you. If you must punish someone, then punish me."

As she spoke, Aunt Zhang knelt down.

"Hey!" Nan Qianyue helped the person up. "When did I say I wanted to blame you? I just wanted you to show me the way."

Aunt Zhang was stunned. She asked uncertainly, "...Lead the way?"

Nanqianyue smiled and said, "Yes, lead the way to the dilapidated temple where we first met."

——

Outside the dilapidated temple, Nanqianyue gazed at the familiar yet unfamiliar surroundings, lost in thought.

Will she be able to find a way back...?

Qin Yi's expression changed as he looked at her. Just as he was about to ask her something, his gaze suddenly turned sharp before he could even open his mouth.

Nanqianyue didn't notice anything unusual about him. She sighed and was about to walk inside.

But Qin Yi grabbed her wrist.

"What's wrong?" Nan Qianyue asked, looking up in confusion.

Qin Yi pulled her closer to him, his sharp gaze fixed on the dilapidated temple. "Come out."

Nanqianyue's eyes widened instantly. Could this scene be... an assassin?!

As she guessed, as soon as Qin Yi finished speaking, a dark figure slowly emerged from the shadows inside the dilapidated temple. It was a masked man in black, wielding a large knife.

An assassin?

I'm afraid it's more than that.

"Qin Yi, today is your death day," the man in black said in a sinister tone.

"Southward Migration Moon purses her lips," such a corny line.

Qin Yi remained silent, his eyes cold.

Nan Qianyue narrowed her eyes, suddenly feeling a bit itchy to speak, and couldn't help but retort, "You? How arrogant."

The man in black let out a sinister laugh, "Open your dog eyes and see clearly."

As soon as he finished speaking, dozens of men in black, wielding large knives, jumped out from hidden corners and behind low walls, instantly surrounding Qin Yi and his companion.

"Kill!" the man in black at the entrance of the dilapidated temple roared.

The men in black all around drew their knives and slashed at Qin Yi, who protected Nan Qianyue while parrying the attacks. For a moment, swords flashed and shadows danced.

As Nan Qianyue was being carried around by Qin Yi, the scene before her eyes swayed rapidly, making her dizzy and disoriented. She wanted to help, but was powerless to do so.

Suddenly, Qin Yi tossed Nanqian Yue into the air, giving himself a dozen seconds to unleash his fists and feet. His moves were ruthless and deadly; anyone who got close to him would not survive more than three blinks of an eye.

As the moon moved southward through the sky, its features gradually magnified. The blue sky and white clouds reflected in its eyes were anything but beautiful. Flying upwards was still acceptable, but the weightlessness of falling downwards made her scream.

"ah--"

The ground clattered as she swung her limbs and slammed them straight down. Just as she landed within range of the black-clad men who could leap up and slash, one of them immediately swung his knife at her.

Qin Yi's eyes darkened instantly. He kicked away a large knife and slashed at the black-clad man attacking Nan Qianyue. At the same time, he spun around and grabbed Nan Qianyue around the waist.

Before Nanqianyue could even catch her breath, Qin Yi spun her around like a wooden stick and placed her on the ground.

"Marshal! I'm late in coming to your rescue!"

General Li's fierce shout came from around the street corner. He led a squad of black-armored soldiers and charged forward, instantly joining the battle.

Qin Yi had already killed half of the men in black. After General Li and his group joined in, Qin Yi withdrew with Nan Qianyue in his arms.

"Are you alright?" Qin Yi patted Nan Qianyue on the back.

Nanqianyue hunched over and almost vomited. She shook her head hard to clear her mind. "...You, you're really strong, you're using me like a stick."

Qin Yi frowned and simply picked the person up in his arms, saying, "I'll take you to find Bai Shu."

"Oh? No, no, I'm fine. I still need to find something. Put me down!"

As Nanqianyue struggled to get down, she caught a glimpse of the leader in black wielding a knife and slashing at her.

"Watch out behind you!" she exclaimed.

A dark glint flashed in Qin Yi's eyes, and as if his heel had eyes, he delivered a fancy flying kick that broke the black-clad man's arm bone.

General Li seized the opportunity to capture the man in black.

"Speak! Who sent you!"

General Li roared out his classic lines.

Nan Qianyue slid off Qin Yi and boldly walked up to the man in black, tearing off the cloth covering his face.

She exclaimed, "How ugly! It looks like a pug!"

Hmph, how dare she call her a dog's eye just now.

The man in black glared at Nan Qianyue with eyes full of malevolence, "So what if you're good-looking? You're just a piece of trash!"

Hey! You little bastard!

Nanqian Yue rolled up his sleeves, ready to start a fight, but Qin Yi shook his head and reached out to pull him back.

"Let me go! I'm going to beat him so badly his face is black and blue he won't recognize his own parents!" Even though Qin Yi was holding her around the waist, Nan Qianyue was still waving her limbs incessantly.

Qin Yi and General Li ignored Nanqian Yue's powerless clamor and looked coldly at the man in black on the ground.

General Li frowned and asked, "Marshal, are you one of his men?"

Qin Yi nodded, his tone flat, "Yes, kill them."

The man in black was shocked, wondering when he had exposed his master, when a halberd pierced his neck, and his mind went blank for a moment.

Nan Qianyue froze, her gaze sweeping from the black-clad man's pierced neck across the pile of corpses on the ground. The gurgling sound that had risen in her throat immediately subsided.
