Chapter 2 Saving the Princess Cursed by the Wicked Witch (02)

"Let's make a bet on how many days the Warriors can hold out before they go crazy."

After an unknown amount of time, a sound suddenly came from somewhere in the dark room, but Yan Li, who was lying on the bed, did not move at all, as if she had not heard anything.

Another voice came through, much softer than the first, and even carried a hint of joking: "Okay, I'll bet half a month."

"This is boring. If it were me, I'd gamble for a month."

"The castle hasn't seen any living people in so long. The lord must be reluctant to let these warriors die too quickly, otherwise it would be so boring."

A group of colorful, furry balls with indistinct eyes and noses gathered together.

They glowed and floated up and down in the room, laughing and joking, completely ignoring the only living person in the room.

"What are we betting on? Can I join in?" Just as everyone was talking at once, a sudden voice rang out from among them.

Yan Li, who should have been fast asleep, sat up at some point. Her brows and eyes seemed to show impatience at being woken up, but her words suggested that she had encountered something interesting.

"How can you see us and hear what we're saying!"

Being discovered so suddenly caused them to frantically dart around the room, sometimes crashing into the walls, sometimes slamming onto the floor, and sometimes flying around in the air, never settling down.

Looking at the somewhat absurd scene before him, Yan Li spread his hands and said, "You guys didn't seem to be hiding anything from me, did you?"

These fluffy little creatures were so high they looked like they'd just taken a hit; it was hard for her to stay awake or pretend she couldn't hear them.

The fluffy little creatures all stopped, looked at each other, and then turned to Yan Li, their eyes filled with a hint of anticipation.

Aren't you afraid?

So many years have passed, and no one has been able to see them, and even those who have seen them would not speak to them so calmly.

Yan Li had already propped herself up most of the way, staring at the fluffy little balls with interest, her expression indifferent: "Don't be afraid."

The fluffy little creatures were unusually silent.

This is the first time a living person has said they are not afraid of them; this is something that has never happened even among the dead.

But there was another reason that silenced the furry little ones: what to do? This was the first time a brave soul had acted out of the ordinary.

According to custom, they seem to have to give kind, honest, brave, and fearless warriors a little hint about the secrets of the ancient castle.

What was it again?

It's been so long since anyone triggered this notification; it seems like this is the first time since they received this task.

Just as Yan Li was about to fall asleep again, the little furballs finally remembered.

"The beautiful princess was sealed in a crystal coffin by a wicked witch, and only the purest kiss of true love can awaken her."

"But the wicked witch was truly skilled at bewitching people. She tricked every warrior who intended to visit the castle and secretly killed them, intending to keep the princess asleep forever in the crystal coffin."

"Kind warrior, please stay true to your original aspirations and do not be seduced by the wicked witch."

The moment the curtains were drawn back, everything was laid bare in the sunlight. The absurd scene from yesterday seemed like a dream, leaving Yan Li completely bewildered.

With the sun high in the sky, Yan Li was leisurely enjoying the attentive service from the butler, who was also the castle's head chef, in the castle's living room.

A perfect morning starts with a bowl of rice noodles.

The butler, who had been watching Yan Li eat seven bowls of rice noodles, six meat buns, two sauerkraut buns, two bowls of crab roe porridge, and four sesame balls in a row, fell into a rare silence.

That one bite wiped out three or four days' worth of their rations.

What was he planning to eat today? Probably cannibalism. But he originally intended to cook more and then eat the 'leftovers'.

But now, he is not worthy, not only is he not worthy, but he has done too little!

The butler glanced at the last meat bun on the plate and decided to give it a try: "Miss Yan, when do you plan to visit the lord? Would you like me to introduce you?"

Unexpectedly, Yan Li continued her work, reaching for the last meat bun on the plate with her chopsticks, and then said unhurriedly, "No need, I can get it myself later."

Despite having eaten quite a lot, Yan Li showed no sign of a belly, and when looking at the table, no one would believe that a seemingly frail woman could eat so much food.

Without hesitation, Yan Li put down her chopsticks, rinsed her mouth, and went straight up to the fifth floor.

The butler looked at the CDs on the table and sighed repeatedly: "It's one thing to not be able to eat the food, but we can't even move."

The beautiful, kind, and generous princess lies forever asleep in a crystal coffin, and the castle is deathly silent.

The fairies wept for her plight, the birds wailed for her, the flowers withered for her, and everything seemed lifeless.

Everything in the castle looked sickly, like a tree about to wither and die, or a terminally ill patient with only one breath left.

Until a righteous witch came to the castle and offered the most sincere prayer for the princess.

"Oh, dear princess, a brave, thoughtful, and resourceful warrior will break this evil curse at midnight with his true heart, and you will live happily ever after."

The princess will not die.

The castle servants cheered, and the elves wept with joy, spreading the wonderful news as quickly as possible.

Everything in the castle has come back to life.

They began to anticipate that the warrior would push open the long-sealed door and awaken the princess they cared for most with his sincerity.

Day after day, year after year.

The princess's curse was not broken, fewer and fewer warriors came to visit, the elves' power began to weaken, and even leaving the castle became a difficult task.

They could no longer spread the news of the princess's curse, nor could they guide the lost warriors.

There was no way to deceive the warriors into giving their hearts and staying in the castle with the princess.

Until this day, the sun shone brightly, and the temperature was just right, neither too cold nor too hot.

The door to the room containing the crystal coffin was finally pushed open by a warrior.

Yan Li stepped onto the last staircase leading to the fifth floor and slowly walked to the room the butler had mentioned.

"Hello, I am a warrior who has come to visit the princess. May I ask for your help?"

Yan Li intended to knock on the door symbolically twice, but unexpectedly, as soon as she reached out her hand, the tightly closed door suddenly opened, and an inexplicable force pushed her inside from behind.

The person inside the room seemed to have been waiting for this very moment.

"Didn't anyone teach you that it's impolite to enter someone's room without permission?"

Wenze Ansel raised his eyes and looked at Yan Li, who had stepped into the room, and said calmly, "How about I cut off whichever foot you step in first?"

This is getting more and more interesting. I never expected that after so long, their group would still send someone, and it would be a woman.

It's really a shame they didn't choose the wrong gender this time.
