Chapter 8 Rescuing the Princess Cursed by the Wicked Witch (08)

After pondering for a moment, Yan Li went downstairs again to find the butler.

However, looking at the smiling butler before him, Yan Li, who had been calm and composed, couldn't help but cough lightly. After catching his breath, he asked in a relatively calm manner:

"Butler, could you do me a favor?"

Upon hearing this, the butler's smile widened, and he nodded quickly: "Of course, Miss Yan, please give your instructions."

Now I have an appetite!

Seeing the butler's frankness, Yan Li felt a little embarrassed.

She coughed lightly again: "I would like to trouble the housekeeper to prepare two five-meter-long iron chains for me, preferably the kind that can be cuffed to things at both ends."

After saying that, Yan Li lowered her head.

The butler was petrified.

Her smile froze on her lips, but looking at Yan Li, she couldn't bring herself to refuse, and instead stammered:

"Miss Yan... please wait a moment, I'll go get it for you right away."

The steward was surprised that the woman in front of him had already been so adept at such things after only meeting the lord a few times. He thought about informing the lord, but he was also worried that it would spoil the mood.

After all, judging from the smile on the lord's face today, he might be enjoying it and willingly cooperating.

The butler, who had brought the chains, placed the items on Yan Li's desk. "Miss Yan, would you like something to eat to replenish your energy?"

The butler was still not giving up, thinking that as long as Yan Li asked, he would go to the kitchen and show off his skills.

However, Miss Yan looks too weak. I'm afraid she won't be able to keep up with the lord.

"Thank you, but there's no need to prepare any food." Yan Li didn't think much of it. After struggling to wrap the iron chain on the table around her arm, she carried it straight upstairs.

She wasn't sure if there was anything wrong with the food in the castle, or if yesterday's events were related to it, so she decided to just go hungry for now.

A person will not starve to death just because they skip a meal.

The second midnight arrived as scheduled, and Yan Li, holding the two iron chains, successfully stood in front of the second crystal coffin.

She first tied one end of two iron chains to a pillar in the room, and then handcuffed the other end of the chains to her feet.

Yan Li didn't believe that, given her current level of vigilance, the embarrassing incident from earlier in the day could happen again.

Unlike the first crystal coffin, the princess in this crystal coffin was dressed in significantly tattered clothes, and her exposed skin even had very obvious wounds, as if she had suffered some kind of abuse.

But who would dare to mistreat a princess?

[Gentle, generous, and understanding princess, my lord has protected you and allowed you to live. But you have an unparalleled beauty, and everyone who sees you is captivated by you, willing to live for you, willing to die for you, and even willing to bang their heads against a wall for you.]

But you seem to have forgotten your duties. Your people are going mad for you, even violating ethics. This is wrong. Please stop showing your true colors. Our Lord will continue to protect you and grant you the Lord's favor.

Upon receiving the new notification, Yan Li thought: "If nothing unexpected happens, something unexpected is about to happen again."

"Knock knock—"

"Madam, it's time for you to wake up."

A cold, emotionless voice pierced through the heavy door, waking Yan Li.

Today, she showed no temper whatsoever. After a quick tidy-up, she opened the door and began gesturing with her hands again:

Is the lord in the castle?

The steward glanced at Yan Li, who was determined to find out the lord's whereabouts, a cold glint flashing in his eyes, but it quickly disappeared, and his attitude became respectful.

"It would be best if Madam did not inquire further. When the lord wishes to know, Madam will naturally find out."

Her room was arranged on the fourth floor, and Yan Li looked up at a room on the fifth floor.

With such similar layouts, could the person in that room be him?

"A meal has been prepared downstairs for you, Madam. Please come with me," the butler said, but did not wait for Yan Li and went downstairs first.

Yan Li didn't know when this dream would end, and stared at the pile of steaming food on the table without daring to pick up her chopsticks.

But just because she doesn't want to doesn't mean the princess doesn't want to.

Yan Li watched as she gestured to the butler in thanks, sat down, and then unceremoniously picked up a meat bun.

It was soft, hot, and the meat smelled wonderful, but the butler's smile was even more eerie.

Before we knew it, most of the food on the table had been eaten.

The steward, however, acted as if he were an NPC who had triggered a dialogue: "The lord likes the Moonflower on the top of the back mountain. I wonder if the madam would be willing to find it for the lord?"

Yan Li nodded, then got up without hesitation and headed towards the castle gate.

The Moonflower, a flower that exists only in legends, is said to have been buried with the princess in her crystal coffin.

Its vitality is extremely strong; even if it is picked from the branch, it can remain fresh.

Behind the castle, on the mountain, was a dense forest, teeming with snakes and ants. Yet, upon seeing Yan Li, all of these creatures instinctively gave way.

However, the path up the mountain was extremely dangerous, and Yan Li was powerless to do anything about it. She could only watch helplessly as more and more cuts appeared on her body.

The only thing to be thankful for is that she can't feel the pain anymore.

The sun sets in the west, and the moon rises.

The bright moonlight fell on Yan Li, and under the holy light, the pure white flower buds slowly bloomed.

The flowers bloom in the moon.

"I had no idea that you, my lady, were so deeply in love with me?"

Before Yan Li could pluck the flower, a familiar voice came from behind her.

Yan Li turned around, her eyes revealing genuine shock, and she even took a step back in disbelief.

Wenze?

The person in front of me had a face exactly like Wen Ze's, except that his eyes were red, he had blond hair, and he was dressed in clothes that only royalty and nobility would wear.

"I almost forgot, Madam is mute." Wen Ze stepped forward and pulled Yan Li into his arms:

"When the princess abandoned me, did she ever imagine that this day would come?"

Yan Li: So you had a grudge against me?

She struggled violently, seemingly disgusted by the person touching her.

"Why is Madam so resistant? Have you forgotten your place?"

Wen Ze seemed to be enraged. He grabbed Yan Li's struggling hands with one hand, pushed her against a tree trunk, and used his knee to hold down her flailing legs. His tone was filled with anger.

Yan Li watched as the person in front of her, with Wen Ze's face on his back, grabbed her chin and kissed her directly.

In an instant, she realized that she had taken control of this body.

But at that moment, she had no time to react and could only slowly form a question mark in her mind.

Seriously? What kind of logic is this? Can a kiss be replaced?

Is she some kind of despicable person?
