Chapter 41: The Ghost Infant
"We've arrived in the capital?" Yun Fanjing stared blankly at the bustling streets.
Jingwu nodded and looked at her, asking, "Where is your brother?"
"It's only Chen Shi (7-9 AM) now. My brother should still be handling state affairs. We can go to the Crown Prince's residence and wait for him."
Jingwu nodded, indicating that she should lead the way.
Yun Fanjing led her into the Crown Prince's residence, and the Crown Princess came out immediately upon hearing the news.
She was somewhat surprised to see the princess, who should have been traveling, appear here.
"Princess, aren't you still traveling?"
Yun Fanjing stood up and bowed, smiling as she said, "I made a good friend and brought her to see my brother. Sister-in-law, you must keep this a secret for me. Mother mustn't know I'm back, or she'll drag me back to the palace again."
The Crown Princess smiled gently: "Okay, I'll keep it a secret for you, sister-in-law."
Jingwu watched the two talking without saying a word, but instead surveyed the surrounding feng shui.
Inside the Crown Prince's residence, every piece of wood and stone was arranged with great care, clearly having been inspected by a specialist, indicating excellent feng shui.
She looked at the Crown Princess in front of her, observing her face before lowering her gaze to her abdomen.
The Crown Princess noticed her gaze and immediately raised her hand to cover her stomach with her sleeve. She looked at her warily, her face showing a hint of coldness.
"Princess, where did you meet this friend?"
Seeing her sister-in-law's face turn cold, Yun Fanjing immediately explained, "She's a good friend I met in Pingyao County, sister-in-law. She's very good at fortune telling, so I asked her to come and check on my brother's fortune."
Upon hearing this, the Crown Princess immediately frowned: "Nonsense! Your brother is the Crown Prince. How can he let just anyone come to see him? Besides, your uncle and Ah Huai are both outstanding figures in the Xuanmen sect. How can we not invite them but instead invite someone we've never met before?"
Upon hearing this, Yun Fanjing pouted, feeling somewhat aggrieved: "My brother and cousin had a falling out. I had previously mentioned that I would let my cousin come and see, but my brother got very angry and scolded me."
Upon hearing this, the Crown Princess seemed to realize something, and her expression softened somewhat.
Just as she was about to say something, a servant came to report that the Crown Prince had returned.
A short while later, a man came in sitting in a wooden wheelchair.
Jingwu turned his gaze to him and saw a ghost infant lying on his leg, sucking away his luck. His brows furrowed deeply.
She made a hand seal, intending to kill the ghost infant, when someone next to her grabbed her hand, signaling her to calm down.
Jingwu turned to look at the princess, his face showing confusion, but he still lowered his hand.
"Jing'er, why are you back?" The Crown Prince looked at his younger sister with gentle eyes and a smile on his face: "And who is this?"
His gaze fell on Jingwu. He noticed that she was dressed plainly, with only a wooden hairpin on her body. She was very simple and did not look like a daughter of an official.
"Brother, let me introduce you. This is my good friend." Yun Fanjing waved his hand, signaling the servants to leave.
After the servants had all left, she continued, "I was in danger in Pingyao County, and it was she who saved me."
"In danger?"
The Crown Prince and his wife spoke at the same time, and the Crown Princess quickly stepped forward and checked her over from head to toe.
"Where is he injured? Why haven't we heard anything about it?"
"Sister-in-law, don't worry, I'm not hurt." Yun Fanjing pursed her lips and said in a low voice quickly, "I was just being playful and took Liu Xian's glass cup without returning it. I was unconscious for half a month."
"What?!"
The Crown Princess immediately exclaimed in surprise, and was about to say something when she saw the person in front of her continue speaking.
“But everything is alright now, it was this master who saved me.” Yun Fanjing pulled Jingwu over and said with a smile, “Moreover, I also know that I was wrong. I shouldn’t have been so playful and promised Liu Xian that I would build a Liu Xian Temple for him in Pingyao County.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the crown prince's scrutinizing gaze fell on the girl.
After a long pause, he smiled and asked, "May I ask who your master is?"
"I am a disciple of Shuangcheng Temple."
The crown prince thought about it carefully, but he had no recollection of this view at all.
They must be from a low-level Taoist sect, who know some basic introductory methods.
Although he thought this in his heart, he still smiled and said, "No need to trouble you, Master. I have a cousin who is a disciple of the Xuanmen sect. I have already asked him to come and help me."
Before Jingwu could speak, Yun Fanjing immediately interjected, "You called him cousin? Wasn't he going to..."
"Ahem." The Crown Princess coughed lightly and shook her head at her, signaling her to stop talking.
Yun Fanjing immediately realized that this was just a pretext, and she was both angry and furious, but she didn't want to make things clear in front of the master.
Jingwu understood the meaning behind those words. With a smile, he said to him, "Your Highness, the ghost infant on your leg needs to be treated promptly. In three more days, you will be completely unable to stand up."
"What do you mean?" Upon hearing this, the Crown Prince's expression immediately hardened. He looked down at his legs but saw nothing.
Jingwu didn't say much, but simply made a hand seal and sent a golden light into his body, opening up a yin-yang eye for him.
"Ah!" When the prince opened his eyes again, he saw a bloody baby on his lap. He was so frightened that he cried out and frantically tried to get the baby off, but he didn't expect that his hands could not touch the baby at all. They could only pass through the baby's body.
He looked at his hands, which were trembling uncontrollably, but he forced himself to calm down.
Jingwu looked at him and said softly, "This ghost infant must have been placed on you by someone with ulterior motives, who wanted to absorb your luck and essence, make your fortune worse, and eventually cause your accidental death."
The crown prince looked grim, but he managed to calm himself down and said to the person in front of him, "Please stay in the mansion for a few more days, Master, so that I can calm down for a while."
As soon as he finished speaking, he immediately had the Crown Princess push him to the study.
Jingwu frowned slightly as he watched him turn and leave. Was this person just going to leave him here like that?
But the next second, a maid from the Crown Prince's residence walked in and bowed respectfully.
"Princess, young lady, the Crown Princess instructed me to take you both to the Li Garden for a short rest."
Upon hearing this, Yun Fanjing immediately guessed what her brother was about to do.
He twitched the corners of his mouth and said with a smile, "Then let's go to the Li Garden for a while. The pastries in the Crown Prince's residence are absolutely amazing. Shall we try some?"
Jingwu nodded and followed her into the garden.
As soon as the two sat down, several maids came up in groups, carrying pastries and tea.
Jingwu picked up the teacup, took a sip, and immediately realized that it was Biluochun tea specially supplied by the royal family, and tasted exactly the same as the one he had at the Han residence that day.
She couldn't resist taking a few more bites.
After the Crown Prince and Crown Princess entered the study, he immediately took out a communication talisman from the drawer. He burned the talisman, and immediately a golden light flew out of the window.
His heart was finally at ease.
"Does Your Highness wish to summon Cousin Huai?"
The prince nodded, not daring to look at the ghost infant on his lap, and could only stare at the scenery outside the window: "I still need to let him see me before I feel at ease."
The Crown Princess nodded and said nothing more.
On the other side, Yue Huai received the message talisman, and his face immediately became serious.
This is a talisman for my cousin, the Crown Prince!
The two of them had a big argument a while ago. If something hadn't really happened, the Crown Prince would still be angry and wouldn't have used this communication talisman.
Yue Huai was uncertain and wanted to get there as soon as possible, but he had to finish what he was doing first.
With that in mind, he focused his attention and sped up the work at hand.
