Chapter 40: Heading to the Capital
Upon hearing this, Jingwu felt a sense of unease.
Since they are cousins, why didn't the Crown Prince ask Yue Huai for help, but instead the Princess asked him for a favor?
Jingwu stared at him for a long time, then stopped trying to guess the reason behind it. He figured he would find out when the time was right.
She quickly packed her things and prepared to go back.
"See you again someday."
Hearing this, Yue Huai smiled and nodded. After watching her cast the teleportation spell and leave, he muttered softly, "See you again someday."
He went downstairs, paid the room fee, and then turned and walked in the other direction.
Jing Wu appeared out of nowhere at the Shao family's door, almost scaring Shao Che, who was about to leave, into fainting.
He only breathed a sigh of relief when he realized it was his niece.
"Uncle, where are you going?"
Shao Che smiled and patted her head, then picked up a hoe from the side and said, "I'm going to work in the fields. Your aunt is at home. I'll have her make you something nice to eat. I'll take her with me to work in the fields, and we'll chat again when I get back tonight."
Jingwu responded, just in time, she had some things she wanted to ask her aunt.
She went inside and saw a figure doing embroidery by the window. She took the clothes and pastries she had bought for her aunt and went over to her.
"aunt."
Ruan Chongyue looked up when she heard the voice, and smiled at her: "Awu, you're back."
Jingwu smiled and nodded, handing over the clothes in his hand: "I saw that there were many beautiful clothes in Pingjiang Prefecture, so I bought one for everyone in my family. Here, please try it on and see if it fits."
Ruan Chongyue took the dress, her eyes filled with joy.
I haven't bought any new clothes since that incident.
She kept fiddling with the clothes in her hands and asked, "These clothes must be very expensive, right? You've spent so much money on them, Ah Wu."
"It's not expensive, I'm glad you like it." Jingwu replied with a smile, then added, "I have something I'd like to ask you."
Ruan Chongyue immediately understood what she wanted to ask, suppressed her smile, and thought for a moment before speaking: "Awu, that's between your mother and me, it has nothing to do with you, you don't need to know."
"Aunt, did my mother do something to wrong you?" Jingwu asked, looking at her.
She can predict what has happened, but when it involves close friends or family, she may not be accurate.
Ruan Chongyue nodded, then smiled and said, "It's just a minor squabble. Don't worry, no matter what your mother does, your aunt will take good care of you."
Seeing that she wouldn't say, Jingwu didn't press further. Looking at her face, he vaguely discerned something, and then, recalling what Mu Jing had said, he guessed about 70-80% of what was going on.
Judging from her aunt's appearance, she had a miscarriage once. That miscarriage must have been the one Mu Jing said her mother had harmed her aunt.
This may be the reason why the two families fell out, which explains why the wealthy Jing family did not help their brother-in-law's family and let them go hungry.
Despite the rift between the two families, it was truly remarkable that my uncle would risk everything to bring me home to live.
Jingwu looked up at the woman in front of him and replied with a smile, "Okay."
Seeing that she was no longer dwelling on the matter, Ruan Chongyue smiled and patted her head.
"Oh, right, Aunt," Jingwu suddenly remembered what he had told her before he left, "Did you go to town to look at houses? Which one did you like?"
Upon hearing this, Ruan Chongyue immediately took out the purse and stuffed it back into her hand.
“Awu, your uncle and I have discussed it, and it's up to you to decide this matter. We've lived in the village for a long time and really don't know which houses are better. Besides, this is two hundred taels of silver!”
Jingwu looked at the purse in her hand and, seeing her serious expression, pursed her lips. "Aunt, I really can't get away, so I'm troubling you and Uncle to look after the house for me. Besides, I was originally planning to bring you, Uncle, and my cousins to live with me."
Ruan Chongyue opened her mouth, as if she wanted to say something, but then the girl in front of her continued speaking.
"I'm going to the capital tomorrow, Aunt, I really don't have any free time."
"The capital? How are you going? Are you going alone?" Upon hearing this, Ruan Chongyue stopped worrying about that matter and immediately grabbed her hand, her eyes filled with worry that she couldn't hide.
“I’m with the princess.” Jingwu patted her hand to reassure her: “Don’t worry, I’ll be back in three days at most.”
"Three days? It takes at least half a month to get to the capital from here, and more than a month to go back and forth. How could you...?"
At this point, Ruan Chongyue suddenly remembered the special status of her niece, and immediately stopped talking. Looking at the person in front of her, she pinched her little face: "Then be careful and go home early."
Jingwu nodded with a smile: "Then... what about the house?"
Ruan Chongyue chuckled lightly: "I'll go take a look and choose a few places. We'll make a decision when you get back."
"good."
Jingwu agreed, and seeing that the matter was settled, he stood up and handed the remaining clothes to his aunt.
"Aunt, these are for my uncle and cousins. Have them try them on to see if they fit."
Ruan Chongyue stared at the clothes in front of her, dumbfounded: "You bought so many?"
"Give it a try," Jingwu said with a smile, then walked to the door and called to his two cousins, "Second cousin, third cousin."
Shao Chengyang and Shao Chengmin were practicing their moves in the backyard when they heard their cousin's voice and immediately ran in.
"Sister, you're back!" Shao Chengyang spoke first, moving closer to her with a smile.
Immediately, Shao Chengmin also came over, looking up at her: "Sister, we've mastered all the moves you taught us. Can you teach us something new tomorrow?"
Jingwu pinched his cheek and said with a smile, "Sure!"
Shao Chengmin was very happy to hear this and smiled with his lips pursed.
"Alright, stop fooling around. Come over and try these on, your sister bought you new clothes." Ruan Chongyue smiled and took out two pieces of clothing, handing them to her two sons.
Shao Chengyang and Shao Chengmin were overjoyed to receive the new clothes and immediately shook them out, wanting to put them on.
Jingwu helped the two of them put on their new clothes, and after seeing that the sizes were just right, he nodded in satisfaction.
Do you like it?
Shao Chengyang was the first to nod: "I like it, thank you, sister!"
“I like it very much too, thank you, sister,” Shao Chengmin continued.
Seeing the two of them looking so happy in their new clothes, Jingwu felt much better.
After serving them pastries, he went upstairs.
Jingwu sat cross-legged on the bed, converting all the merits he had gained into spiritual power.
She had a vague feeling that she was about to break through the Foundation Establishment stage and face the tribulation of lightning.
She needs to make some preparations beforehand.
The next morning, Jingwu taught the two brothers many moves at once.
After saying goodbye to his aunt, he went to the Han residence.
Jingwu knocked on the door, and the gatekeeper, seeing that it was her, respectfully welcomed her inside.
She walked to the princess's courtyard and said with a smile, "Let's go, let's go treat your brother's leg."
"Huh?" Yun Fanjing was stunned for a moment, then realized what she meant: "Then I'll have someone prepare a carriage."
"No need." Jingwu grabbed her arm, chanted a teleportation spell, and instantly teleported to the capital.
Yun Fanjing stared blankly at the scene before her.
