Chapter Sixty-Eight: The Guardian Spirit
Upon hearing this, Yao Chenbi looked at the person in front of her in disbelief: "Master, is this true?"
Jingwu nodded: "However, I need some time to prepare. Will you stay here these days, or go back to your own home?"
Yao Chenbi listened to these words and lowered her eyes to think for a moment.
She no longer lives in her own home because the Feng family keeps coming to her door, so she moved to a slum to hide.
The environment there was really not good. Although her face was disfigured, she was still stared at by men as she went in and out. Their venomous eyes lingered on her, making her feel very uncomfortable.
Yao Chenbi raised her eyes and tentatively asked the person in front of her, "Can I stay here?"
Jingwu nodded: "Okay, I'll have Wen Hui take you to the backyard to choose a room."
Upon hearing this, Yao Chenbi's eyes lit up.
Looking at the girl in front of her, she felt that the girl was radiating golden light, and every move she made was like that of a fairy goddess.
"Thank you, Master."
Jingwu gave Xue Wenhui a wink, signaling her to take the person to the backyard.
Then, he went to the cafeteria to have breakfast.
She sat down in the chair, picked up the steamed bun that had been sitting for a while, took a bite, and once again marveled at Wen Hui's cooking skills.
A moment later, Xue Wenhui walked in and said to the girl, "Miss, everything is settled."
Jingwu nodded and took another bite of the big steamed bun.
She ate with relish and finished her meal in no time.
Xue Wenhui cleared the table of dishes and then said, "Miss, your uncle went to the fields early this morning, and your aunt went to the shop to supervise the decoration process. I'll go to the shop to help out later, and I'll come back to cook lunch later."
Upon hearing this form of address, Jingwu paused for a moment before recalling that a few days ago, his aunt had felt it was inappropriate for Wen Hui to address him as "Madam" or "Master," fearing that the Jing family might be unhappy if they heard this form of address upon their return.
Therefore, she strongly requested that Xue Wenhui change the way he addressed her, and so it was changed to "Uncle" and "Aunt".
Jing Wu didn't care. Besides, even if the Jing family came back, they wouldn't live with him.
She nodded and replied, "Okay."
After receiving the reply, Xue Wenhui immediately packed her things and went to the shop.
Because she was a woman, she was suppressed by her parents in every way, who forbade her to go out and open a shop.
Now that she could get involved in the shop's affairs thanks to the young lady and her aunt, she naturally took it very seriously.
After she left, Jingwu took out a map and looked at it to see where there were mines.
She looked at the location on the map. There was a jade mine in Nanyang City of Yizhou. She could go and see if there was any spirit jade there.
The Healing Array needs some spirit jade as its core, but I don't have enough silver right now, so I can only try my luck at the mine to see if I can pick out a few pieces of jade.
However, Yizhou is far away, and going there would take a lot of time.
I need to tell my uncle and aunt in advance, otherwise they will worry.
With that in mind, Jingwu decided to wait until his aunt returned before telling them about it.
She put the map away and then sat cross-legged in the courtyard to absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth.
At noon, when the family was having lunch, Jingwu brought up the matter.
Ruan Chongyue and Shao Che knew that she must have something to do before going to Yizhou, so they didn't say anything, but just told her to be careful.
Jingwu readily agreed. After finishing his meal, he took some silver notes, cast a teleportation spell, and headed to Yizhou.
She landed in front of the mine and went inside.
Looking around, I couldn't sense any fluctuations in spiritual energy.
Jingwu couldn't help but frown. As he walked further in, he looked at the mine shaft that had already been completely mined and pursed his lips.
It seems like I made a wasted trip.
She turned and walked out of the mine. Just as she was about to leave, a snow-white fox rushed towards her.
Jingwu dodged backward, only to see the fox pounce on her feet and bite her skirt, refusing to let go.
She sensed something was wrong and stopped in her tracks.
The fox immediately turned around and led her into a secluded spot in the forest.
Jingwu followed behind it and walked inside.
After a short while, the fox stopped and looked at her with pleading eyes.
Jingwu noticed the presence of a magic array and immediately looked around.
Before long, a demon-suppressing formation was discovered in the nearby woods.
Inside the demon-suppressing formation is a nine-tailed white fox.
Jingwu lowered his eyes to look at the white fox standing beside him: "You want me to save her?"
The white fox nodded quickly.
Jingwu stepped forward and frowned as he watched the nine-tailed white fox inside the formation being painfully impacted by the magic.
It is not easy for a nine-tailed white fox to cultivate; it seems that it has already become a fox immortal.
Ordinary esoteric practitioners would never arbitrarily sever someone's cultivation, unless they are evil cultivators.
Jingwu wanted to see the cause and effect on her, but he was covered by a layer of black mist and could not see anything.
She couldn't help but frown, hesitated for a moment, and then lowered her eyes to ask, "Why was she trapped in this formation?"
The fox didn't respond, but just blinked at her, trying to soften her heart with its pitiful appearance.
"If you want me to save her, you have to tell me the whole story."
"I don't need her to tell me, I'll tell you myself," the nine-tailed fox inside the formation said painfully.
Jingwu looked at her, gesturing for her to speak.
The nine-tailed fox endured the attacks of the formation while speaking in pain, her words broken and fragmented.
"Because I mated with a human and gave birth to a half-human, half-fox child. The human family would not tolerate my daughter and me, so they hired a master overnight to lure me into a formation with my daughter, intending to kill me."
A cold smile crept onto the nine-tailed fox's lips as the array's attack caused one of her tails to become faintly visible.
Upon hearing this, Jingwu lowered his eyes and thought for a moment, then quickly reached out and made a hand seal to erase the formation.
She reached out and grabbed the nine-tailed fox, trying to wipe away the black mist that was obscuring her karma.
But she struggled to break free.
Jingwu frowned, immediately conjured a spirit rope, and swung it out to pull her back.
The nine-tailed fox is currently weak and definitely cannot escape.
Meanwhile, the white fox that had been brought in was also struggling to bite the girl's skirt.
Jingwu disregarded all of this and forcibly wiped away her black mist.
She looked down at the cause and effect presented and couldn't help but open her mouth wide.
"you……"
The nine-tailed fox instantly covered its face with its tail, unable to face her.
Jingwu stared at her cause and effect for a long time before finally saying, "You're really going all out."
The nine-tailed fox felt extremely ashamed and wished she had the ability to burrow underground so she could escape immediately.
Jingwu finally understood why the human families wouldn't accept her anymore.
As a guardian spirit of the household, she had affairs with three generations of a family and even gave birth to a half-human, half-fox child. How could this be tolerated?
