Chapter Twenty-Six: What We Found on the Mountain
Jingwu paused, thinking that only Yue Huai had been with him in the past few days, and then nodded: "Yes, does Your Excellency know him?"
Bai Wuchang did not answer that question, but continued, "He is exceptionally gifted, not an ordinary person. You... should be careful."
As soon as he finished speaking, without waiting for Jing Wu's reaction, he turned around and led Qin Huachan into the Ghost Gate.
Soon, the Gate of Ghosts disappeared into the air.
Jingwu had long seen that Yue Huai was exceptionally talented, but for Bai Wuchang to give him special instructions, his identity must be extraordinary.
However extraordinary it may be, it has little to do with her.
Jingwu quickly put the matter out of his mind and returned home by chanting a teleportation spell.
As soon as he entered the house, he saw Ruan Chongyue crying as she packed her clothes, while Shao Che stood by helplessly.
The other two twin brothers stared longingly at their mother.
Jingwu blinked and walked to his uncle's side: "Uncle, did you make Aunt angry?"
"Huh? No." Shao Che was taken aback, clearly not knowing why she said that.
"Then why is Aunt packing her things to go back to her parents' home?" After saying this, Jingwu looked at Ruan Chongyue again and realized that something was wrong.
She had a heavy aura of yin energy about her.
"What are you talking about? Your aunt is going home to see her sick brother." Shao Che patted her head and explained, "Her brother has been sick for half a month. Your aunt went to see him this morning and saw that he was about to die, so she packed her things and went to stay with him for a few days."
Upon hearing that Ruan Chongyue had already gone there, Jingwu frowned. The heavy yin energy here was not from someone who was about to die.
"Uncle, I want to go with you."
"Huh?" Shao Che paused upon hearing this, and was about to refuse when he remembered something: "Awu, did you see something?"
Jingwu nodded and said softly, "It has a very heavy yin energy, unlike that of a living person."
Upon hearing this, Ruan Chongyue suddenly remembered something and grabbed her hand.
"Awu, do you have a way to save my brother?"
Jingwu didn't pull his hand away, but patted it on the back of her hand: "I'll have to go and see for myself to know, but don't worry, Aunt, if there really is something evil, I will definitely take it away."
Hearing this, Ruan Chongyue's panicked heart finally calmed down.
"good."
When the brothers Shao Chengyang and Shao Chengmin saw that their cousin was going to their uncle's house with their mother, they insisted that they go too.
"Mother, I want to go too."
"Mother, take us with you, we promise we won't make a fuss." Shao Chengyang walked over and tugged at the woman's clothes, pleadingly.
Ruan Chongyue softened her heart and looked at her husband.
Unable to resist the two boys' pleading eyes, Shao Che suggested, "How about... letting them come with you?"
"No," Jingwu immediately stopped them. "I haven't figured out how powerful the thing there is. If they go there rashly, they might get caught up in it."
Upon hearing this, Ruan Chongyue's heart softened, and she immediately said, "You two stay at home and don't run around."
Upon hearing this, Shao Chengyang and Shao Chengmin knew they definitely wouldn't be able to go this time, and their faces immediately fell. They responded in a muffled voice.
After packing her things, Ruan Chongyue took the girl onto the oxcart that her family had come to fetch her.
The person who came to pick him up was his nephew, Ruan Guan. When he saw that there was an extra person, he didn't say anything and drove the ox all the way home.
Jingwu was jostled around so much that his stomach was churning.
Just as she was about to recite the Heart-Cleansing Mantra, the oxcart stopped.
She opened her eyes and saw three wooden houses, the whole place shrouded in yin energy.
Jingwu frowned, got off the carriage, and followed Ruan Chongyue into the house.
Upon entering, a strong smell of medicine filled the air, along with the soft, choked sobs of a woman.
Jingwu looked in that direction and saw a middle-aged man lying on the wooden bed, thin as a rake and with a deathly pale face.
She took two steps forward and felt the increasing intensity of the yin energy.
She looked around, searching for the source of the yin energy.
But the house was very clean, without a single ghost.
Just as Jingwu was about to go look around, he saw the blanket on the bed lifted, revealing an ancient bronze mirror.
Her brows furrowed deeply as she looked at the eerie aura emanating from the bronze mirror and immediately understood.
This bronze mirror is exquisitely carved, and there are still holes for inlaying it. With such a strong sense of yin energy, it must have come from some ancient tomb.
"Where did this bronze mirror come from?"
Upon hearing this, everyone in the room paused for a moment, then looked at the girl with scrutinizing eyes.
The man in the blue cotton coat walked up to Ruan Chongyue and asked, "Who is this?"
“A-Che’s niece.” Ruan Chongyue took her hand and asked somewhat anxiously, “Sister-in-law, where did this bronze mirror come from?”
The person in front of her was Mu Jing, the wife of her brother Ruan Wenyi.
"Hey, where could it have come from? Your brother picked it up on the road when he went up the mountain to chop firewood before the New Year."
Looking at her shifty eyes, Jingwu knew she wasn't telling the truth.
She frowned, looked at the woman in front of her, and said, word by word, "No matter where you picked it up, return it quickly. There's still time."
Mu Jing's expression changed, but considering that there were so many people around, she suppressed her emotions and said with a smile, "You're a really interesting kid."
Ruan Chongyue now completely trusts Jingwu, and upon hearing her say this, she immediately stepped forward to persuade her sister-in-law: "Sister-in-law, just listen to her. It's unsettling to keep something of dubious origin. You should send it back as soon as possible."
"Hey, Yue, what's wrong with you?" Mu Jing frowned and looked at her coldly: "Your brother is so sick right now, and you still have the mind to care about the bronze mirror?"
"sister in law……"
"And why do you listen to your sister-in-law's daughter so much? Don't forget that your sister-in-law caused you to have an abortion..."
Seeing that she was going off on a tangent, Ruan Chongyue immediately rebuked her coldly: "Sister-in-law!"
Seeing that she was truly angry, Mu Jing stopped talking and remained silent.
Ruan Chongyue turned to look at the girl and saw that she was frowning and seemed to be thinking about something, so she went up and patted her on the shoulder.
"Awu, don't listen to her nonsense. You should take a look and see if there's any hope for my brother."
Jingwu put all her thoughts out of her mind, walked to the man's side, took his hand, and began to take his pulse.
Immediately, he quickly formed hand seals, chanted incantations, and sent a golden light into his body to remove some of the yin energy.
Seeing that his complexion had regained some color, he stood up.
She looked up at her aunt: "Aunt, he has been with the bronze mirror for too long, and his body is full of yin energy. If the bronze mirror is not taken away soon, he will surely die."
Upon hearing this, Mu Jing immediately became indignant: "Take it away? Where are you taking it? Are you taking it back to your Jing family?"
“It’s to return it to where it should be.” Jingwu’s tone turned cold as he heard her presumptuous words: “You don’t need to tell me things like you picked it up on the mountain. It was taken from the tomb by you. It was a burial item. You went into the tomb and took away the tomb owner’s burial items. The tomb owner has his eye on you. He wants you to be buried with him.”
Upon hearing this, everyone in the room fell silent instantly.
All eyes fell on the woman, whose face flushed red instantly, and she immediately shouted loudly.
"What do you mean, 'taken from a tomb'? This is just something I picked up, you little brat. Don't talk nonsense if you don't know anything!"
Seeing her still stubborn, Jingwu said coldly, "You know perfectly well where it came from. If you insist on not returning the bronze mirror, your husband won't last three days!"
