Chapter Twenty-Five: Rest in Peace

Chapter Twenty-Five: Rest in Peace

Jingwu turned to look at Yan Shengming, who had called out to him: "Is there anything else?"

Yan Shengming immediately stepped forward, smiling at the girl in front of him: "My parents want to invite you to a meal to express their gratitude after they found out about this. When would you have time, Master?"

He hadn't intended to tell his family about this, but a few days ago when he returned home, his mother saw the talisman on his body.

Only after her mother pressed her for details did she tell her about it.

When she found out, she discussed with her father about inviting the master to their home for a meal and also getting a few peace charms.

Jingwu disliked these social interactions, so he declined: "No need for meals. If you encounter any trouble, you can come to me."

Seeing her resolute refusal, Yan Shengming looked to Shao Chengrui beside him for help.

Shao Chengrui silently looked away. He had said long ago that Awu didn't like these things, but he just wouldn't believe it.

Seeing the person in front of him pacing anxiously, he still reached out to help him.

"Awu, the county magistrate's wife probably wants to ask you for some peace charms. Do you have any left?"

Upon hearing this, Yan Shengming immediately chimed in, "Yes, yes. My mother really does want to ask you for a few more peace charms, no matter the price."

Even if we can't bring back a master, taking a few talismans back will at least be enough to get by.

Jingwu nodded upon hearing this: "How many do you want?"

Ten!

Jingwu frowned, about to speak, when he saw the person in front of him scratch his head and say with a smile.

"I have a large family."

Jingwu didn't say anything more, but after thinking for a moment, he said, "I don't have that many talismans on me. I'll bring them to you in a few days."

"No need, no need. Just tell me your address, and I'll come to your house to pick it up." Yan Shengming then tapped his forehead: "You're staying at Brother Chengrui's house, in Green Bamboo Village, right?"

Jingwu nodded, then said, "You don't need to come all this way. I've been setting up a stall on South Street these past few days. You can come and pick it up tomorrow."

"Okay."

Yan Shengming happily agreed, took out five taels of silver from his purse and handed it to her: "Still five hundred coins per note?"

Jingwu nodded, accepted the silver, and put it into his blue purse.

After finishing what he needed to do there, he greeted the two men and then returned to South Street.

As soon as she sat down, she felt a surge of merit entering her body.

Jingwu was overjoyed, thinking that Heaven would not reward her for helping her family.

I didn't expect Heaven to be so generous.

Since I can't absorb spiritual energy now, every bit of merit I accumulate gives me more security.

Jingwu's mood improved considerably because of this act of merit.

Not long after, Zhou Ying walked up to the stall and plopped down on it.

"Master, you've finally set up your stall."

Jingwu looked up at him and saw that the yin energy in his body had decreased significantly, so he guessed that the Zhou family should have set a date to collect the body.

Sure enough, Zhou Ying brought it up the next second.

“Master, after you left that day, the Zhou family came back. That Zhou Nianhuai said he asked the elders in his family and they recognized this great-grandmother. He also said that tomorrow is an auspicious day, so he's coming to take their great-grandmother back for burial. I went to the steamed bun shop twice, but the shopkeepers both said you weren't there. I finally ran into you today. Will you be coming tomorrow?”

Zhou Ying was truly terrified. He was afraid that if the great master didn't come tomorrow, or if something else went wrong, he and his wife's hearts wouldn't be able to withstand the shock any longer.

"I'll be there tomorrow morning, don't worry."

Jingwu would definitely go, after all, she had promised Qin Huachan that she would take her to see how her descendants would bury her and kowtow in peace.

Hearing this, Zhou Ying finally felt relieved and went home with peace of mind.

After seeing him leave, Jingwu did some calculations and, seeing that there was no business today, decided to close up shop.

She first bought talisman paper and cinnabar, then went to the orphanage and donated half of her income.

Then, he chanted the teleportation spell and went home.

The next day, Jingwu teleported to Zhou Ying's house.

Seeing that the courtyard was full of people dressed in white mourning clothes, they knew that Zhou Nianhuai's family had arrived.

She took out her Qiankun bag and released Qin Huachan.

Qin Huachan looked at her descendants in the cool shade of the room, her face expressionless.

“I originally thought that Zhou Li’s wealth was all earned through my hard work, and that his descendants, who inherited his fortune, should come to collect my body and kowtow to me. But I never expected that all that money would be swindled away by that woman, and that his descendants would live in such poverty. I find it quite laughable.”

The night Qin Huachan was put into Jingwu's Qiankun Bag, Jingwu released her and asked her why she had the descendants of the Zhou family come to collect her body and kowtow.

After she answered, Jingwu told her about Zhou Li being swindled out of his family fortune.

These past few days, Qin Huachan has been thinking about this matter from time to time while she's in her Qiankun bag, and she doesn't know what to feel.

Jingwu didn't look at her. He saw Zhou Nianhuai push down the wall, revealing a skeleton, and sighed softly.

"Before you enter the underworld, I will perform a ritual to help you pass on to the afterlife. You have not harmed anyone and died unjustly, so you will be reborn into a good family in your next life."

Qin Huachan didn't say anything more, and just looked at her descendants.

Zhou Ying and his wife watched as their wall was torn down, and they felt a pang of pain in their hearts.

But then I thought, rather than continuing to live with this skeleton, it would be better to tear down this wall.

If things don't go well, we can just rebuild. We can just work hard and make money.

Soon, Zhou Nianhuai and his family placed the remains into the coffin, closed the coffin, and then, playing the suona horn, headed towards the cemetery.

Jingwu put Qin Huachan into his Qiankun bag to protect her from the sun.

She followed behind the group, only to find that Zhou Ying and her husband had also gone along.

Upon arriving at the cemetery, Jingwu walked to the shade of a tree and released Qin Huachan.

Qin Huachan looked at the bulging mound beside her grave, then at the people digging her grave not far away, and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, he was not buried with Zhou Li.

The coffin containing her remains was quickly placed underground.

Zhou Nianhuai and the others covered the grave with yellow earth, then knelt on the ground and kowtowed several times towards the newly built mound.

Jingwu turned to look at the ghost floating beside him. The resentment on her body gradually dissipated, and a smile appeared on his lips.

"Master, my obsession is over, please send me to the underworld."

As Qin Huachan watched her descendants burn a great deal of paper money for her and kneel in sincere worship, her obsession was finally resolved.

Jingwu nodded and put it into his Qiankun bag.

Just as I was about to leave, I saw Zhou Nianhuai walking over.

"Master, I have done as my great-grandmother instructed. What is the next step?"

Jingwu shook his head at him and then said, "You have the face of someone who will enjoy a comfortable old age. You should take good care of the child in your wife's belly."

As soon as she finished speaking, she turned and left, not caring whether he had understood or not.

When Zhou Ying and her husband saw her leave, they immediately followed her.

"Master, are we just going to leave this matter as it is?"

Jingwu nodded: "Yes, I just noticed that you two don't have much yin energy left. Go on to get some sun and do more good deeds."

Zhou Ying nodded quickly, then took out three taels of silver and handed it to her: "Master, my family just used all our savings to buy this house, and this is all we have left. Do you think it's enough? If not, please give me a little more time, and I will definitely give it to you."

Jingwu took the silver and returned one tael to him, saying, "Two taels of silver is enough."

"ah?"

The Zhou couple were stunned. Was it really that cheap?

By the time the two of them came to their senses, Jingwu was already far away.

She cast a teleportation spell and arrived deep in the forest.

He released Qin Huachan, sat cross-legged, and softly chanted incantations to help her pass on to the afterlife.

The gentle golden light enveloped her soul, dispelling her resentment.

After a while, the ritual ended, and Jingwu opened his eyes, recited the incantation again, and summoned the Gate of Hell.

Only Bai Wuchang came this time. After reviewing her biography and confirming that there were no problems, he checked Qin Huachan's name.

Bai Wuchang looked at the girl on the ground and, seeing that there was no one beside her, spoke up.

"Jingwu, is the person who was with you a few days ago gone?"
