Chapter 19 Who Made Our Little Sweetie Unhappy?

Liu raised her hand and slapped Du E'li across the face.

"Smack!"

Du E'li raised her hand to cover her face in disbelief. Although it was through the white veil, the slap was quite forceful, and she felt her face burning.

"I think you're even more ignorant! Let go!" Liu's furious voice rang out.

Du E'li looked at the ground, let go of her hand, and followed her to the carriage.

"ah!"

Liu fell forward to the ground, her ruqun skirt lifted up, revealing white underpants underneath.

The veil flew off.

"Wow!" The onlookers exclaimed in surprise.

Liu quickly covered her face; she couldn't show herself no matter what!

Du E'li quickly withdrew her foot. She had deliberately stepped on Liu's skirt, but she did it very discreetly, avoiding everyone's view, so no one was sure to see it.

Since Liu dared to hit her in public, she had to make her look bad!

"Sister-in-law, are you alright?" Du E'li quickly went forward to help Liu Shi.

Liu helped her to her feet; her knees were bleeding and very painful.

Ye Panjiu followed the two with a smile. After Liu got into the carriage, Du E'li had not yet boarded.

She shouted, "It was Du E'li who stepped on your skirt and made you fall. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who saw it."

The onlookers looked at each other and shook their heads.

Ye Panjiu didn't mind and didn't continue after she finished speaking.

Liu's face darkened. "Let's go!"

The driver glanced at Du E'li and waited for her to get in the carriage.

Although he was Liu's coachman, he had seen Du E'li's face before and was immediately captivated by her beauty.

Du E'li pursed her lips and struggled to climb onto the carriage.

"I told you to go!" Liu picked up her whip and lashed it at the coachman.

The driver winced in pain, but dared not linger any longer. He immediately yanked the reins, and the wheels spun rapidly, disappearing into the distance.

Du E'li fell off the carriage, but quickly steadied her veil.

She stood up, turned her head, and glared at Ye Panjiu with a sinister look. "You!"

Ye Panjiu scoffed, "If you don't want people to know, then don't do it in the first place. Go back yourself."

In fact, she didn't see Du E'li step on Liu Shi at all, but she knew that must be the case.

Du E'li wanted to incite hatred between Liu and her, and use Liu to deal with her.

Why couldn't she just turn around and provoke hatred between the new sisters-in-law?

Grandma Ye looked nervous and pulled Ye Panjiu's arm to walk back.

On the second floor facing the street, a man wearing a snow-white tall Dongpo turban and a silver-white wide-sleeved robe moved the feather fan in front of him.

"She does have some talent, but lacks a bit of keenness. Never mind, Goose Feather."

"Yes." A person from the shadows pushed open the door and went out.

“My lord, you have been out for some time now, and some people are getting restless,” the pageboy beside the man said respectfully.

"That's exactly what we want to do, to make them restless." The man replied casually, his gaze following Ye Panjiu in the crowd.

After they had walked a little further away, Old Mrs. Ye said with some worry, "Daughter, that Liu's father is an official. We common people can't fight against officials!"

Ye Panjiu patted her hand, "Mother, if you have a clear conscience, you have nothing to fear. Our Ye family stands tall and has nothing to be afraid of!"

Mrs. Sun slapped her forehead. How could she not have thought of that? She had been speaking so confidently just now!

well!

...

Instead of returning to the Du family, Liu returned to her maternal home, the Liu family, wiping away her tears.

Upon seeing his daughter's tears, Master Liu anxiously rushed over, "Who upset our little sweetheart? Tell Daddy, and Daddy will take care of it for you!"

Liu only wiped away her tears with a handkerchief, turned her body to the other side, and refused to look at her father.

Master Liu then went around to the other side, saying, "Daughter, please don't cry. If you keep crying, my heart will break!"

"You must be heartbroken! It's all your fault for spoiling her! Look at the shameful things your good daughter has done!" A dignified middle-aged woman's voice rang out.

Both father and daughter froze.

Ignoring the tears on her face, Liu Ruitian immediately stood up and bowed gracefully to the woman, performing a full curtsy.

"Mother."

Madam Wang snorted coldly, her face stern. "Kneel down! Tell your father yourself what you've done!"

Liu dared not argue and immediately knelt down.

Her biological mother died when she was born, and she was raised entirely by her father.

She had long understood that the Liu family was now ruled by the current matriarch, Madam Wang.

Master Liu felt sorry for his daughter, but he dared not offend his second wife.

He was able to sit in this position of advisor entirely because of his father-in-law's influence.

With a sob in her voice, Liu said, "I was in the middle of the street when that despicable Du E'li stepped on my skirt, and I fell down in front of everyone..."

"Fool!" Wang was furious and slapped Liu across the face.

"You dared to elope with someone before, and now that you're married, you're still stupid enough to go out and embarrass yourself. From now on, don't call me mother. I'll pretend I don't have a daughter like you!"

"Especially the Ye family, do you think you're so great that you dare to mess with them? Just because your father is a mere advisor? Let me tell you, if you go looking for trouble with the Ye family again, you'll only end up killing yourself and your father! Remember that!"

Liu held her swollen cheek with one hand, her mind in turmoil, but she was too frightened to do anything but nod.

But Master Liu's expression changed. He knew about the Ye family. What was the background of Du Pengzhi's ex-wife? How could she make his wife so afraid?

After scolding herself to exhaustion, Wang picked up her tea and took a sip. "There's no need to go back to the Du family. Since the marriage certificate hasn't been written yet, let's just pretend this marriage doesn't exist."

Liu lowered her head dejectedly, her face filled with despair.

She arrived at the Du family home, having escaped for only a few days, and her freedom ended just like that…
