This was Princess Jiahua's first time staying overnight in the Southern Frontier Palace. She felt a little uncomfortable and sat on the steps, gazing at the bright moon in the sky, lost in thought.
"Master, it's windy tonight, let's go back."
She nodded and stood up.
Dozens of letters were also laid out on the table. After hesitating for a moment, I opened the letters and read them word by word.
In the letter, Xiao Wu said that the old man was taking medicine again and often sat in the pavilion in the Imperial Garden sighing. His health was deteriorating day by day.
I opened another letter.
Xiao Wu said that the Fourth Prince had become very busy, often disappearing for ten days or half a month at a time, and when they did meet, he would only give a brief greeting.
The fourth prince has lost weight, and his complexion is becoming increasingly unpleasant.
She also mentioned Song Hengchuan, who had been depressed for a while after she left, and had been ill for more than a year and had not been seen since. Song Kaifeng sent him to the countryside to recuperate.
We brought him back the following spring. He lives in our house now, but he's still a bit aloof and doesn't see anyone. I only saw him once from afar. He's grown quite a bit taller, and his literary talent has improved a lot.
Princess Jia Hua's eyes welled up with tears, and she almost burst into tears.
After reading all the letters, she felt even more heartbroken. Recalling the days she spent with Song Hengchuan, she felt increasingly guilty.
"Master, one day we'll get through this."
"Master, please be patient and wait a little longer."
Princess Jia Hua nodded; "As long as you're alive, there's hope."
I didn't sleep a wink all night, tossing and turning.
As dawn broke, she propped herself up and sat up. Suddenly, everything went black, and a burning pain shot through her chest. Then, a searing pain spread throughout her body, making it hard for her to breathe.
"Embroidery..."
When he opened his mouth to call out, his throat seemed to be sealed shut, and every time he spoke, it felt like a thousand arrows were piercing his heart.
Princess Jiahua had no choice but to make some noise in the house.
Xiu Shu pushed open the door and saw Princess Jia Hua lying on the couch, her face contorted in pain. She looked clearly not alright. Xiu Shu was terrified and quickly helped her up: "My lady, what's wrong?"
Princess Jiahua was in so much pain that she was drenched in sweat. She was trembling as if she had been pulled out of the water. Suddenly, her body went limp and she fell straight into Xiushu's arms.
"Master!" Xiu Shu exclaimed in surprise.
Xiu Shu quickly called for help.
The seventh prince, who was next door, heard the commotion and rushed over. He saw Princess Jiahua lying unconscious on the bed and shouted for the imperial physician.
A moment later, the imperial physician arrived to examine Princess Jiahua's pulse.
"Congratulations, Your Highness, the Seventh Prince's Consort is pregnant."
Is it a pregnancy pulse?
Xiu Shu's mind went blank for a moment: "Impossible, how could Master be pregnant? There must be a mistake."
The Seventh Prince's expression grew increasingly grim.
"Your Highness, there must be a mistake," Xiu Shu said excitedly.
Princess Jia Hua has never had a man by her side in the past few years, so how could she be pregnant? Xiu Shu dares to swear on her life that it is absolutely impossible.
"Your Highness, this old minister has been in the palace for many years and would never make a mistake. The Seventh Prince's Consort was exhausted, and the extreme joy and sorrow caused her to have a miscarriage, which is why she fainted. She will be fine after taking a dose of medicine to prevent miscarriage."
The Imperial Physician's Way.
The seventh prince's face was tense.
"By the way, the Seventh Prince's wife has been pregnant for over a month. The first three months are the most unstable, so you must remind her not to get angry again."
After giving his last instructions, the imperial physician silently turned and left, carrying his medicine chest.
The room fell silent instantly.
Xiu Shu moved her lips, but suddenly saw the Seventh Prince's gloomy face, a coldness she had never seen before, which frightened her so much that she dared not speak.
"Someone come here."
The young eunuch entered, bowing low: "What are your orders, Your Highness?"
"Prepare medicine for the Seventh Prince's Consort."
"yes."
An hour later, Princess Jiahua slowly awoke.
The pain in her body had subsided. She rubbed her temples and looked around. The room was quiet, and there was still the smell of medicine in the air.
"Master, mistress." Xiu Shu paused for a moment when she entered the room, then quickly walked a few steps to her side and helped her up.
Princess Jia Hua asked, "What's wrong with me?"
She had never experienced anything like this before; her whole body was in excruciating pain, even the spaces between her fingertips were throbbing with agony.
But after waking up, the pain disappeared.
That's strange.
Xiu Shu stammered, recalling that the Seventh Prince had said there were some things he didn't want her to know, and that they should not mention them for now, but wait until they left the palace.
So she made up an excuse: "The imperial physician said that you are very likely reacting to extreme joy and sorrow because you are too resistant to the palace."
Princess Jia Hua didn't believe it and grabbed Xiu Shu's arm: "Xiu Shu, you are the one I brought here. Do you think I would believe these lies? Tell me, what exactly is wrong with me?"
Xiu Shu still wanted to hide it.
"Xiu Shu! Am I poisoned?" This was the first thought that popped into Princess Jia Hua's mind.
Xiu Shu had served Princess Jia Hua for decades, and Princess Jia Hua quickly saw through her evasive gaze. Seeing that she could no longer hide it, she lowered her voice and said, "His Highness summoned the imperial physician for you an hour ago. The physician said that you were already a month pregnant and had a miscarriage, which is why you fell into a coma."
Pregnancy?
That's ridiculous!
Princess Jia Hua's heart pounded. Did she not know whether she was pregnant or not?
Moreover, she became pregnant at this critical juncture. Princess Jiahua's first thought was of those letters. She sat up, threw back the covers, and looked at the place where the letters were placed next to the makeup box, but it was already empty.
"What about the letters?"
Xiu Shu was taken aback: "This servant did not find the letter."
"try to find!"
The master and servant began searching high and low, when Princess Jia Hua suddenly stood up and said, "No need to look anymore, the letter must have been destroyed."
