"Master, what do you mean by this?"
"Something that shouldn't have been spilled on the letter was definitely on the Empress's lips. She was certain I would read it. She has been in charge of the inner palace for many years; it would be incredibly easy for her to take the letter away right under my nose." Princess Jiahua was somewhat annoyed; she had been so careless.
They weren't even on guard.
"Your Majesty, what should we do now? Both imperial physicians have confirmed that you are one month pregnant after examining your pulse. This news can't be kept secret any longer. You and His Highness have never shared a bed. Could this child... be something the Empress wants to use to coerce you?" Xiu Shu asked anxiously.
Princess Jiahua bit her tongue, forcing herself to calm down. Recalling the whole situation, she suddenly asked, "What was His Highness's reaction after he found out?"
"His Highness didn't ask anything, he just had someone prepare medicine, and instructed me not to tell you the truth. He also said we should talk about it after we leave the palace."
It's hard to tell whether this attitude stems from anger or something else.
Where is Your Highness now?
"We went to the front hall."
As Princess Jia Hua was deep in thought, a greeting came from outside; it was the Third Prince's Consort.
Hearing this, Xiu Shu was indignant: "How dare the Third Prince's Consort come here? She's an accomplice too."
As they were talking, Princess Jia Hua could see through the window that the Third Prince's Consort was walking over with a red lacquered wooden food box in her hand and a gentle smile on her face.
The two looked at each other through the window.
The Third Prince's wife said with a smile, "Seventh Prince's wife, you are so lucky. Seventh Prince has only been back for a short time, and you have already been diagnosed with pregnancy."
Princess Jia Hua clenched her fists.
The Third Prince's wife had already stepped over the threshold and entered: "I had the small kitchen in Fengyi Palace prepare some tonics. You must be very careful during the first three months. Look at me, this isn't the first time you've done this. I was overthinking it."
The blatantly hurtful words were like knives stabbing her, and Princess Jiahua's face gradually paled. She turned her head and stared intently at the Third Prince's Consort.
The Third Prince's wife wasn't annoyed. She smiled at her and said, "Seventh Prince's wife, you should follow your husband wherever he goes. Don't dwell on the past. Just focus on giving birth to the child. Whether it's a boy or a girl, it's Seventh Prince's first child. He will definitely cherish it like a precious jewel."
Princess Jia Hua was breathing rapidly.
Xiu Shu was about to step forward to argue, but Princess Jia Hua stopped her: "You step back first, the Third Prince's Consort and I still have some things to talk about."
"Master?" Xiu Shu asked anxiously.
Princess Jia Hua's face darkened.
Xiu Shu then withdrew, causing the guards in the corridor to step back as well.
Seeing this, the Third Prince's wife waved her hand to dismiss her maid. She smiled and said, "Now that there's no one around, say what you have to say. For the sake of our sister-in-law relationship, I might lend a hand."
"I don't know what method you used to disrupt my pulse. But I do know that what you seek is nothing more than military power."
"Seventh Prince's wife, I don't understand what you're saying," the Third Prince's wife said innocently.
“There are no outsiders here, so there’s no need to hide anything.” Princess Jia Hua stared intently at the Third Prince’s wife: “The Third Prince’s wife may not know my character, Zhao Jia Hua. I would rather die than live in dishonor.”
The Third Prince's wife slowly stood up, a half-smile on her face, tinged with disdain: "No wonder the Seventh Prince looked so unwell in court today. Could it be that you, Seventh Prince's wife, couldn't resist the temptation and, in a moment of carelessness, became pregnant with a bastard's child?"
Princess Jia Hua suddenly smiled: "Since the Third Prince's Consort is so unyielding, then I have nothing more to say."
The Third Prince's wife's eyelids twitched.
"I must thank the Third Prince's Consort for visiting me!"
Having said that, Princess Jiahua pulled out the gold hairpin from her hair and, without hesitation, plunged it into her abdomen in front of the Third Prince's wife.
Blood gushed out immediately, staining his palms red.
The Third Prince's wife suddenly widened her eyes in disbelief: "Are you crazy?!"
Princess Jia Hua's lips curled into a smile: "Even if I die, I'll drag your Third Prince's mansion down with me!"
"You!" The Third Prince's wife rushed to Princess Jia Hua's side in a rage, fearing that she would bleed to death. She shouted, "Someone, quick, someone come quickly!"
Xiu Shu was the first to rush in, stunned by what she saw.
Princess Jia Hua gripped the Third Prince's wife's wrist tightly: "There are more doctors than just the imperial physicians in the world who can treat illnesses. They will surely see other clues. If the Third Prince's wife insists on fighting, I will accompany her to the end!"
The Third Prince's Consort was stunned by the fierce look in Princess Jia Hua's eyes.
She watched as Princess Jiahua fell at her feet, her hands stained with blood.
It was unclear who had informed the Seventh Prince, but he hurried back, his face grim and menacing, making him a figure not to be underestimated.
"Seventh Prince, you...you must explain!" the Third Prince's wife said in a panic. "I heard that your wife was pregnant, so I specially brought some tonics. I don't know how she..."
“Your Highness!” Princess Jia Hua’s face was pale, and she said in a weak voice, “Your Highness does not need to hand over military power because of me. I swear on my life that I will never be able to conceive a child.”
The Seventh Prince strode over, picked up Princess Jia Hua, and placed her on the couch; "Where is the imperial physician? Get in here!"
A roar almost made the whole room tremble.
The Third Prince's wife's expression became somewhat subtle.
