Chapter 14 Is this still their little sister who's too lazy to even pick up a needle?

"Little sister!"

"Little sister!"

Gan Li was taken aback upon hearing this. She turned to look outside the courtyard and saw three people approaching from a distance.

The one at the front was someone I'd just met at the Gan family home; he was that simpleton Gan Mingli, the one who slapped his wife away.

Upon seeing him, Ganli immediately thought of her sister-in-law who had run away crying, and quickly asked, "Did you bring your sister-in-law back?"

Gan Mingli shook his head with a wry smile, afraid that his younger sister would worry, and then put on a tough front, saying, "Never mind her, she'll be back on her own in a couple of days!"

Ganli couldn't help but roll her eyes upon hearing this—did she expect the other person to comfort her on their own?

She wanted to say a few more words, but then the other two approached, so she had to stop talking.

Behind Gan Mingli were two other people. Gan Li looked closely and recognized the one with dark skin, a strong build, and a wide grin showing a set of white teeth as the original owner's second brother, Gan Mingyi.

The other silent boy was Gan Mingli's son, Gan Quan.

Once inside the courtyard, he called out "Auntie" to Ganli, then went over to take the sickle from her and got to work.

His movements were swift and efficient, and a large patch of weeds fell down instantly under his attack.

Seeing her posture, Gan Li understood that she had come to help.

But just now in the Gan family compound, the old couple clearly wanted to sever all ties with her, obviously they were unwilling to forgive their daughter, so why did they ask them for help now?

Thinking this, she asked, "Eldest brother, second brother, did Father and Mother send you?"

Chen Pan'er also straightened up and obediently called out to her eldest uncle, second uncle, and Gan Quan.

Gan Mingli had something on his mind, but facing his nephew, he still forced a smile before turning to Gan Li and saying:

“It’s your second brother and me. We heard that Dad let you stay here, and we were worried that you and Pan’er wouldn’t be able to manage, so we came to help.”

Gan Li's face darkened—as expected, they had come secretly on their own.

Gan Mingli then handed her the things he was carrying in his hands, which contained some bowls and chopsticks, as well as grain and meat.

Gan Li immediately recognized that, apart from the bowls and chopsticks, the grains and meat among these items were all things she had bought and left at the Gan family's house. She frowned and asked, "Mother, you don't even want my things anymore?"

Gan Mingli noticed that his younger sister was in low spirits and, fearing she would be upset, quickly said, "No! I was worried you wouldn't have anything to eat, so I specially stole it for you!"

No, that's not it. Actually, it was all Gan Daquan and Grandma Gan's idea, but they told me not to tell my younger sister. As for their intentions, Gan Mingli understood them, so he obediently did as his father said and dared not reveal a word.

He thought he had concealed it well, but little did he know that his lies were showing on his face. Gan Li looked at his shifty eyes and assumed that it was indeed the elderly couple, Gan Daquan and his wife, who refused to forgive her and therefore refused to take her things.

The two men, each with their own thoughts, fell silent for a moment, which gave Gan Mingyi the opportunity to speak.

"Little sister! Don't worry, I'll find a chance to teach that Chen Danian a lesson! How dare he bully my sister? You used to protect him, but now that you're divorced, I'll make sure he pays the price!"

He took his wife and children back to his wife's family home this morning. When he returned just now, he heard from his elder brother that his younger sister had divorced Chen Danian. He was so happy that he jumped for joy.

He said, "How could my little sister be such a heartless and ungrateful person?"

But when he heard that his younger sister had been hit on the head by the Chen family mother and son, he felt both heartache and anger, and wished he could storm into the Chen family's house immediately.

He used to tolerate that Chen guy because of his younger sister. Now that his younger sister has nothing to do with him, what is he worried about?

Ganli, seeing his eager expression, quickly stopped him and gently coaxed him:

"Second brother, look at me, I'm fine, aren't I? That Chen guy is certainly hateful, but what goes around comes around. We shouldn't risk our lives for him. Don't you think so?"

She wasn't just making things up. Gan Mingli was the eldest son in the Gan family and had a talent for cooking, so he was taken in by Gan Daquan. If the secret recipe hadn't been leaked, he would have been the one to inherit the mantle.

The second son, Gan Mingyi, had never been interested in cooking since he was a child. The dogs at the village entrance would kick over the bowls of food he made just because they smelled it. So he simply farmed at home and helped out at the docks in his spare time. Over the years, he developed a body full of muscles, as big as a sandbag, and could smash Chen Danian into a meat patty with one punch!

It doesn't matter that Chen Danian is dead, but Gan Mingyi, who killed someone, can't escape either.

The two Gan brothers looked reckless, but their love for the original owner was invaluable. Gan Li, who had never experienced such sibling affection despite having siblings, felt a sense of closeness with the two brothers and was unwilling to see them do wrong because of her, so she quickly stopped them.

Before she could finish speaking, Gan Mingyi gave her a deep look, then said with a pained expression, "I knew you still couldn't let him go!"

Ganli: "..." Assessment complete. This is also a personality-based brain.

No, how did he deduce from her words that she couldn't let go of Chen Danian?

But whatever, she was too lazy to explain, so she decided to let them think that way. Thinking this, Gan Li simply said:

"Anyway, if I find out you secretly go and fight Chen Danian, I'll never talk to you again!"

Ganli had never acted so coquettishly to anyone before, and the moment the words left her mouth, she got goosebumps. But since the original owner of this body had acted this way with her two older brothers in her memories, she could only follow suit.

Sure enough, this move immediately silenced Gan Mingyi, who shrank his neck and muttered, "Fine, I won't go then."

Seeing that this trick worked, Ganli finally breathed a sigh of relief.

It was getting late, and she didn't dare to just stand there chatting idly. Even though someone was helping her, it didn't mean she could just stand there and slack off.

The Gan brothers not only came, but also brought their own tools. Gan Li had just given the sickle to Gan Quan, so she simply took a sickle from the basket that Gan Mingyi had brought and was about to start working.

However, just as she grabbed a handful of grass, two voices stopped her in unison: "Little sister! This is not your job. We can do it."

Gan Li was so startled by the two shouts that she almost cut her hand. Speechless, she looked up at them and pointed at Chen Pan'er, who was engrossed in her work: "My daughter is so grown up and she can do chores. How can I, as her mother, not do them?"

Gan Mingyi quickly said, "Pan'er doesn't need to do anything. You two can just rest on the side."

Ganli: "..." No, is that what she meant?

However, she knew that her two older brothers had spoiled the original owner of her body, and nothing she said would make a difference now. She simply said, "No need. From now on, whatever you do, I'll do too."

Upon hearing this, the two Gan brothers looked at each other simultaneously, their faces filled with shock and confusion.

Is this still their little sister who's too lazy to even hold a needle?
