Gu Yueji was stunned for a moment, then looked up at him, "You want a child?"
Although they haven't talked about having children since they got married, it seems like it's only natural.
He crumpled the used tissue into a ball and threw it into the trash can. "I can't really say I want it. I'll just let things take their course."
Ren Jin hadn't thought about having children at all. He was currently enjoying a comfortable and carefree life with Gu Yueji, and having children wasn't on his agenda for the time being. But if he did get pregnant, he wouldn't refuse to have children.
Worried that she might feel sticky and uncomfortable from sweating, he took the half-damp towel he had left in the room after his shower and used it to wipe her body.
Ren Jin noticed she was staring at him. "What are you thinking about? Want more?"
Gu Yueji suddenly asked, "What if I can't have children?"
After they got married, they did try not using condoms, and the reason she and Ye Zurong hadn't married for so many years was because they didn't have children. She couldn't help but start to wonder if there was something wrong with her.
Ren Jin was taken aback, not expecting such a question. "Have you seen a doctor?"
Gu Yueji shook her head, having already decided to go to the hospital for a check-up sometime. Now that she was married to him, it was only right for her to have a child.
Ren Jin, however, seemed indifferent. He cleaned up the tissues, turned up the air conditioning, and pulled her down to lie down. "Don't think about these things. I don't need to carry on my father's family line. I don't have that kind of pressure."
Gu Yueji was still somewhat worried, "If I really can't have children, are you really not going to mind?"
"To be honest, I don't know if I want to be a father. I don't want to right now. I don't have the patience, and I don't know how to raise a child."
"What if you want it later?"
"We'll see when the time comes. There are so many medical treatments available now. If all else fails, we can just adopt one to play with."
Ren Jin seemed indifferent, but Gu Yueji didn't see it that way; she wanted a child with Ren Jin.
"Come with me to the hospital another day."
Ren Jin gently stroked her back and kissed her forehead. "Okay, don't overthink it. If all else fails, I'll work harder and try my best to get you pregnant soon."
Gu Yueji was amused by his words, but also felt relieved.
