Chapter 14: The first time I associated the word "obedient" with him.

Ren Jin said to Liu Jun, "My phone is broken. Brother, can you call the police and an ambulance for me?"

"Okay, bro, I'll call the police and dial 120 now."

The Mercedes driver panicked when he heard that the police were being called, saying, "Hey, why call the police or an ambulance? You're fine, aren't you? You just want more money. Just name your price and I'll give it to you. Don't waste my time. Do you know how much I earn in a day?"

Ren Jin didn't bother to talk to him. He just sat down on the ground and said to Liu Jun, "Just tell 120 that I was hit by someone. My feet hurt, my hands hurt, my head hurts, my internal organs hurt. I hurt everywhere. I need a full body checkup."

The Mercedes owner, heavily pregnant, stood in front of Ren Jin with his hands on his hips and launched into a tirade of ridicule: "You poor food delivery bastards, you just want to seize any opportunity to make a quick buck when you see a rich person. Let me tell you, we rich people are smarter than you, and we have stronger connections. You think you can make money off me? No way!"

Ren Jin, with his thick eyebrows and sharp eyes, gave a cold smile. "Your car is only worth around 300,000 yuan, right? You dare to call yourself a rich person? Do you have some kind of misunderstanding about rich people?"

The car owner's face turned red upon hearing this, and he was about to say something when Ren Jin interrupted him, "Anyway, I've already called the police. If you don't want to wait, you can leave now, no one's stopping you. If you want to wait, just stand here quietly and don't make a sound!"

As Ren Jin spoke, his tone became noticeably harsher. He glared fiercely at the man, and his strong, burly physique made him appear imposing even while seated. The car owner, having been humiliated, dared not utter a word of complaint and could only turn around and anxiously start making a phone call.

Traffic police and an ambulance arrived quickly. The traffic police determined at the scene that the Mercedes was fully responsible, the car was impounded, and the owner had to pay all of Ren Jin's medical expenses and lost wages.

Ren Jin was still not satisfied. "I just smelled alcohol on him. I suspect he's been drinking."

The car owner was stunned. "What nonsense are you talking about?!"

Ren Jin was indeed talking nonsense; he was just looking for trouble. He wasn't a magnanimous person who would repay evil with good. If someone made him unhappy, he wouldn't make them feel comfortable either.

Despite the car owner's denials, he was eventually taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test, and Ren Jin was also taken to the ambulance.

Seeing Ren Jin sitting in the ambulance, Liu Jun remembered, "Brother, I'll call your girlfriend and ask her to go to the hospital to take care of you."

Ren Jin was taken aback for a moment, then waved his hand, "No need, thank you for today."

After the car drove away, Liu Jun thought for a moment and then took out his phone to make a call. "Miss, your boyfriend was in a car accident! He was just taken to the hospital by ambulance."

"What!?" Gu Yueji was live-streaming when she was shocked. "What happened to Ren Jin? How serious is it? Where is he now?"

"He scratched his foot and bled a lot. He probably didn't want you to worry. I told him to call you, but he wouldn't let me. He took an ambulance to the hospital himself."

Gu Yueji was even more frightened when she heard about the blood. "Okay, I'll call him. Thank you."

"His phone is broken. You should go directly to the city hospital to find him."

After hanging up the phone, Gu Yueji stared blankly at the white wall for a few seconds, panicked, not knowing what to do. It wasn't until she saw the clothes she was about to try on that she remembered she was still live streaming. She walked to her live streaming phone, briefly explained the situation, and then ended the broadcast.

She rushed to the hospital but couldn't contact Ren Jin. After asking around, she finally found out that he was already hospitalized.

He was diagnosed with a concussion and a fracture in his hand, and needed to be hospitalized for observation.

When Gu Yueji arrived at the ward, Ren Jin was wearing a blue and white striped hospital gown, sitting on the bed looking up at the TV on the wall. He had an IV drip in one hand, his other hand was wrapped in gauze, and there was also a thick bandage around his left calf and knee. There were also scars on his face.

As dusk settled outside the window, he sat alone on the hospital bed. Apart from the monotonous sound of the television, the room was completely silent. A sense of loneliness and desolation seeped into Gu Yueji's heart as the light grew dimmer.

She knocked on the door.

Ren Jin turned his head, and their eyes met for a moment; he was stunned.

He had considered that Liu Jun might call Gu Yueji, but he thought Gu Yueji wouldn't come because they had lost contact for over a month, which meant that both of them implicitly agreed that there was no longer any relationship between them.

The two stared at each other for a few seconds.

Finally, Gu Yueji took the first step and walked towards him.

Ren Jin's gaze followed Gu Yueji as she walked to his bedside, pressed the call button, and then turned off the IV pump. The room, filled with the smells of disinfectant and various medicines, was filled with her familiar fragrance.

The two looked closer at each other, unsure of what to say.

The nurse quickly pushed the treatment cart in. Gu Yueji thought the IV drip was finished, but then she saw the nurse take a larger bottle of fluid and start the IV drip on Ren Jin.

"How much IV fluid is left?" Gu Yueji asked.

"This is the last bottle. After this one, there won't be any more for today."

The sky outside the window grew even darker. Gu Yueji thought for a moment, "Can he eat?"

"OK."

Are there any foods I should avoid?

"He doesn't need surgery and there's nothing he should avoid in his diet. He just needs to avoid spicy and irritating foods, as they can cause swelling and hinder healing."

"What precautions should he take? Is he able to get out of bed?"

"Sure, he only needed a few stitches and it's nothing serious. But he still has a slight concussion, so you should help him if he gets out of bed to go to the toilet, in case he suddenly faints and falls."

Gu Yueji nodded and wrote them down one by one, "Okay, thank you."

After asking a series of questions, she finally turned to Ren Jin and asked, "What do you want to eat tonight?"

Ren Jin listened quietly to her detailed questions, and when he looked at her face that suddenly turned to him, he was surprised that the first thing she said when they met again was this.
