The morning sunlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a soft, warm glow on the two people sleeping peacefully in each other's arms on the bed.
Ren Jin opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was Gu Yueji resting on his arm.
She nestled in his arms, her face flushed as she slept, her arms wrapped around his waist, her legs entwined around his feet, her whole being like a soft, warm octopus.
They used to share a bed in the sweltering summer, and they didn't realize that Gu Yueji had a problem with cold hands and feet in cold weather.
That night, she suddenly put her feet between his legs to warm them, which startled him. He frowned and looked at her, and she innocently asked him what was wrong. What could he say? He could only squeeze her legs together and hug her tightly.
Later, he discovered a way to warm up even faster: a couple's activity before bed. Both of them would sweat profusely, and she could fall asleep immediately after lying down. It solved the problem and made her feel comfortable and happy—a win-win situation.
After several nights in a row, Gu Yueji disagreed last night. She kept saying she was tired and only wanted him to hold her while she slept.
After a night's sleep, the down comforter was warm and cozy, with steam constantly wafting out.
Ren Jin never realized this blanket could be so warm before; now he can only pull it down a little to let it air out.
As soon as he moved, Gu Yueji snuggled even closer to him, closing her eyes and rubbing her face against his chest like a child.
Ren Jin felt a warm and itchy sensation in his heart. The area that was naturally tense in the morning was now being teased by her, and he slowly slid into the down comforter.
The familiar teasing quickly aroused Gu Yueji's instinctive desires. Gone was the shyness and restraint she felt when she was awake. Words she couldn't say in her usual half-awake state would come out in her half-asleep state, making Ren Jin lose control every time he heard them.
Ren Jin sometimes felt that the early morning was the most wonderful time for the two of them, a time of ultimate enjoyment.
After the clouds dispersed and the rain stopped, Gu Yueji also woke up and softly lay on his chest, savoring the lingering feeling.
"Are you satisfied?" Ren Jin asked, his hands roaming over her body with satisfaction.
During their tender moment, Gu Yueji was obedient, giving a soft "hmm" and kissing his firm chest muscles.
Ren Jin's large hand slid down, his voice already low and hoarse, "The way you are makes me want to mess with you again."
Gu Yueji patted his chest and stopped him, saying, "That's enough. Aren't we going to my aunt's house for New Year's Eve dinner today?"
Today is New Year's Eve. Ren Jin told her that he would take her to his aunt's house for New Year's Eve dinner.
Gu Yueji was quite surprised at the time, because Ren Jin had only mentioned his father, mother, grandfather and grandmother to her, and had not mentioned any other relatives.
Ren Jin then introduced his relatives, saying that his aunt was Qian Mingjun's mother. When he was little, she often went back to visit him and his grandparents, and would buy him new clothes and snacks, so he and his aunt were quite close. He also had an older aunt and an older uncle, but he hadn't seen them much since childhood and they didn't keep in touch now.

Ren Jin placed a kiss on his forehead and said in a deep, mellow voice, "I know, I'll do whatever you say."
By the time they finished everything, it was already past 2 p.m.
When Ren Jin came out of the shower, there was a new set of clothes on the bed: a dark red knitted sweater, navy blue trousers, and a black collared jacket. These were the new clothes Gu Yueji had bought for him at the mall for the New Year.
In front of the dressing table, she wore a dark red sweater in the same color as his, paired with a beige mesh skirt, and a black belt around her waist.
Ren Jin finished dressing and walked behind Gu Yueji. Gu Yueji had her hair braided and was wearing exquisite makeup. She was applying lipstick in front of the mirror, looking pretty and well-behaved.
"You only dress up this nicely when you're meeting other people," Ren Jin said idly, playing with her braids.
Gu Yueji thought about it. From the first time they met, they spent almost all their time together at home. She was used to seeing him in her pajamas and without makeup. Even when they went out together, unless it was for social occasions, she always dressed casually and comfortably. She really had never dressed up for him.
She looked at him in the mirror. "Do you need me to see you looking good?"
Ren Jin thought for a moment, "No need, the less you wear, the better. Ideally, you should always be naked when you see me."
Gu Yueji knew he'd be like this. "Can you ever speak seriously for a single day?"
He pinched her waist meaningfully, saying, "Why am I so serious with my wife? Would you be happy if I were serious with you?"
Gu Yueji put the cap back on her lipstick. "I'm not going to argue with you anymore. Let's hurry up and go; it'll be late getting to my aunt's."
Before leaving the house, Gu Yueji took out about 10 bags from the closet.
Ren Jin was stunned. "Why do you have so much stuff? What did you buy?"
Gu Yueji listed the items one by one, "This is tea and liquor for my uncle, this is skincare and health products for my aunt, this is clothes for Qian Mingjun, and I also bought some fruit today."
