Chapter 117 Can you please coax me a little longer?

As the city lights began to twinkle, after seeing Ren Jin and Gu Yueji off, Zhong Xuyang and Xiao Yao got into the car.

Xiao Yao was replying to a message from the owner of a popular clothing store on WeChat, whom she had finally managed to add. The owner seemed quite satisfied with the pictures of their trendy items, but had pushed the price down. Xiao Yao was biting her finger, trying to figure out how to negotiate a lower price while still retaining the customer.

After chatting for a while, they still couldn't agree on a price. However, both sides compromised. Xiao Yao lowered her price a bit more, and the other party agreed to see a sample. They would finalize the price after inspecting the fabric and workmanship.

Xiao Yao happily gave herself a peace sign, thinking that this was a good start.

Satisfied, I put my phone away and looked up again, only to find that the scenery outside the window hadn't changed; they were still standing in the same spot, and the car hadn't even started moving.

Xiao Yao was taken aback, then turned to Zhong Xuyang in surprise and asked, "Why aren't you leaving?"

Zhong Xuyang was leaning on the steering wheel, looking at her with a smile in his eyes. "Seeing how happy you are, I want to watch you a little longer."

Xiao Yao was stunned.

His gaze lingered on her, a faint smile playing on his lips, his peach blossom eyes filled with tender affection, as if the warmth of spring were enveloping her.

Seeing that it was still early, Zhong Xuyang asked with a fawning and pleading look, "I'm going back to Yun City first thing tomorrow morning. Would you like to go see a movie? Or shall we find a place to sit? Can you stay with me a little longer?"

Although he never said it, Xiao Yao knew that Zhong Xuyang was really busy. His phone rang constantly every day, and he was always in a rush when he came. He usually arrived in the afternoon and left early the next morning. She didn't know how many times he had made these trips during this period.

Thinking of how hard he had been working, and remembering what Gu Yueji had told her tonight, Xiao Yao nodded. "Let's go to a bar for a drink."

Upon hearing this, Zhong Xuyang's eyes lit up, and he immediately sat up straight. "Great! Let's go now."

They found a quiet bar, without dazzling lights or deafening electronic music, with only a singer on stage quietly playing and singing, creating a soothing and relaxing atmosphere.

Xiao Yao requested a booth near the stage, a seat that could accommodate five or six people, but Zhong Xuyang sat right next to her.

Xiao Yao didn't refuse. She had originally planned to talk to him that night, and she even ordered cocktails for both of them.

After ordering their drinks, they remained silent for a while, listening to the music and enjoying the leisurely time. When the drinks were served, they picked them up and drank. Zhong Xuyang watched Xiao Yao raise her chin slightly as she drank and smiled.

Xiao Yao caught his smile out of the corner of her eye, turned her head and asked in confusion, "What are you laughing at?"

Zhong Xuyang took a sip of his drink before speaking, "I remember the first time we met was at a bar. You were holding a wine glass in one hand, your bright red lips lightly sipping the wine, looking exceptionally sexy."

Xiao Yao recalled for a moment, then lowered her head and smiled bitterly, shaking her head at him, "That wasn't the first time we met, you just don't remember."

Her memory was different from his. In her mind, their first meeting was on the college basketball court. He was a sunny young man, sweating profusely, not a man in a bar, heartbroken and drowning his sorrows in alcohol. She was not a mature and sexy woman with heavy makeup.

Zhong Xuyang was taken aback, then realized that she was referring to their time in college, when they must have met each other.

Zhong Xuyang tried to recall the events very carefully, but he couldn't remember anything. He didn't even know what she looked like at the time. He felt guilty, heartbroken, and nervous.

I thought she was going to say something, but Xiao Yao didn't say anything. She just continued to quietly watch the singer on stage and listen to the song.

Zhong Xuyang stared at her profile; her red lips, long hair, long eyelashes, and big eyes were exactly the same as when he first met her.

He suddenly asked, "What did I look like when you first met me?"

Xiao Yao was taken aback and turned to look at Zhong Xuyang in surprise.

Zhong Xuyang understood the source of Xiao Yao's surprise. It was about their university days. Because it touched on his past with Lin Wenwen, he was afraid that she would be angry or upset, or that she would feel uncomfortable or resentful. So he never dared to ask or mention it. But since their breakup, he realized that this was an unavoidable issue between them, and one that they should not avoid.

"I'd like to know what I looked like when you first met me," Zhong Xuyang asked sincerely.

He looked so serious, as if he really wanted to know. Xiao Yao then began to recall the scene from seven or eight years ago. "Do you remember the basketball court on the south side of the school? The one you used to play basketball at. That day I went there to get a book for a classmate. As I was walking along the edge of the court, I suddenly heard someone shout 'Watch out!' I subconsciously turned my head and saw a basketball flying towards me. At that time, I don't know why I couldn't react. I just closed my eyes and waited for the ball to hit me. But the ball didn't hit me. Instead, you rushed over and blocked the ball for me."

Xiao Yao thought of how she saw him back then, and the corners of her lips unconsciously turned up. "When I opened my eyes, I saw you with your hands on either side of me, which was kind of like a wall slam. Your hair was longer back then, and you had a perm that was very popular at the time. You looked as young and trendy as a younger brother."

The light in her eyes when she talked about him in college made Zhong Xuyang inexplicably a little jealous of his past self. "What did you like about me back then?"

Xiao Yao scanned his face again and answered frankly, "I like that you're handsome."

At first glance, lust arose.

Zhong Xuyang smiled, feeling fortunate for his good looks for the first time.

He considered it for a moment, but finally decided to ask the question, "Then...why did you still like it for so long?"

Even after knowing he had a girlfriend and that there was no future for them, I still secretly liked him for so long.
