Chapter 122 Let's tell the truth.

In the bustling train station, Ren Jin carefully protected Gu Yueji, preventing her from being bumped or jostled by others.

"They said they'd be waiting for us at the train door, but where are we?"

Gu Yueji looked around, dazzled by the bustling station. She didn't know what He Mei and the others were wearing today; whether their hair was long or short, she couldn't find anything to look for.

Ren Jin gently patted her back to comfort her, "Don't worry, why don't you try calling your parents again?"

“I called several times, but they wouldn’t answer the phone.”

Gu Yueji was so angry she wanted to stomp her feet. They had called her to pick her up at the station, but now they weren't answering the phone.

Just as she was about to dial the number again, she vaguely heard someone shouting.

"Gu Zhaodi, over here!"

Gu Yueji was taken aback and looked up uncertainly.

Ren Jin heard it too. He was tall, so he raised his chin and looked in the direction of the sound, and quickly found it.

He pointed to the left front and said to Gu Yueji, "Your parents are over there."

Following Ren Jin's pointing finger, Gu Yueji saw He Mei and Gu Nianwang, each carrying a woven bag full of urea, and the other carrying a luggage bag and various plastic bags in both hands, pushing through the crowd towards them.

Gu Yueji pulled Ren Jin along and walked towards them.

"Oh dear, why did it take you so long to get here? Your dad and I have been waiting for ages," He Mei complained as soon as she saw Gu Yueji.

Gu Yueji was already angry, and hearing He Mei's habitual blaming words made her even angrier. "I've been looking for you for ages! Why didn't you answer the phone? You said you were at the train station entrance, but is this an entrance? And you weren't answering the phone, how was I supposed to find you?"

He Mei was stunned for a moment. This was the first time Gu Yueji had ever been so tough on her, and she was speechless with surprise.

Feeling a little embarrassed, she raised her voice even higher, "Making a phone call doesn't cost money, we'll find it soon enough, let's go, where's the car? Let's hurry up and leave, what are we arguing about here?"

Gu Yueji was angry, but she knew she couldn't argue here. She subconsciously reached for the bag in He Mei's hand, but Ren Jin grabbed her and glared at her.

Gu Yueji only remembered that she was pregnant after being glared at by him, and silently withdrew her hand.

Ren Jin took the bag from He Mei's hand and said, "Mother-in-law, let me carry it. You can help Yueji."

He Mei's hands were suddenly empty. Hearing Ren Jin's words, she raised her hands, but she couldn't reach Gu Yueji's arm no matter what she did.

From the time Gu Yueji could walk, she had never carried her; such tender gestures of holding hands were never seen between the mother and daughter. Moreover, she thought it was pretentious. She had been working in the fields until she gave birth, and she had never seen any pregnant woman in the village need anyone's help.

In the end, He Mei simply walked beside Gu Yueji without helping her.

Ren Jin glanced at He Mei, whose face darkened. He could only walk in front of Gu Yueji to block the flow of people for her, while slowing down his pace to let her walk a little slower.

Walking slowly, they finally reached the parking lot, but after walking for quite a while, they still couldn't see the car. He Mei became impatient and asked, "Where is your car? How much longer do we have to walk?"

Ren Jin, with a cold expression, raised his chin and said, "The car is over there."

He Mei looked at the row of cars that Ren Jin was pointing to. The first car she saw was a slightly worn sedan with the only car logo that she recognized. Her nephew also had one of these cars. When he first brought it back, her sister-in-law had deliberately shown it off to her.

He Mei walked towards the car naturally, but Ren Jin walked straight past the sedan and stopped in front of a tall, shiny black car next to him.

When Ren Jin opened the trunk of the Land Rover and put her luggage in, He Mei was stunned. After a long while, she asked Gu Yueji in surprise, "Is this your car?"

She doesn't know much about cars, but just by looking at the car's appearance, she knew it was expensive; it was definitely more expensive than the sedan next to it that cost over 100,000 yuan.

Gu Yueji noticed the surprise and question in He Mei's eyes. She had originally planned to take a taxi with Ren Jin to pick them up, but Ren Jin said it wasn't necessary, so they drove their Land Rover directly over.

She gave He Mei a vague "hmm".

Upon receiving an affirmative answer, He Mei's eyes widened even more, and she turned to examine Ren Jin from head to toe once more.

I didn't get a good look at him because of the crowd at the station. Ren Jin was tall and burly, wearing a black polo shirt and brown casual pants. The fabric was crisp and the cut was good. He looked dashing and imposing. Standing next to that car, he exuded a powerful aura and a noble demeanor. He was completely different from how he looked back home.

If he had gone to their house like that, how could she have forced Gu Zhaodi to marry Sun Xiaoming?

He Mei became increasingly puzzled. Gu Yueji hadn't introduced Ren Jin like this to her family before. She reached out and pulled Gu Yueji, asking, "Didn't you say he was from the countryside and worked on construction sites? How come he's different from the one I saw back home?"

Gu Yueji licked her lips. Ren Jin hadn't told her how to deal with her parents yet, so she was unsure whether to answer truthfully.

Just then, Ren Jin walked up from the back of the car and interrupted their conversation, "Let's go eat first. Jia Hui and the others have already gone to the restaurant."

Upon hearing Gu Jiahui's name, He Mei's attention was immediately diverted. "Why would Jiahui spend money to book a hotel? He can just eat at home."

Ren Jin reached out and helped Gu Yueji into the passenger seat before turning to He Mei and coldly saying, "Yueji booked the hotel. Get in the car, or we'll get stuck in traffic."

Then he went straight to the driver's seat and sat down, without opening the car door for He Mei and the others.

Have you thought about how to tell my parents about your situation?

As soon as he got into the car, Gu Yueji leaned over and whispered a question to him before He Mei and the others got in.

Ren Jin replied calmly, "Just tell the truth."

Gu Yueji frowned. He had never seen He Mei and her gang so difficult. "If they knew you had money, they would find ways to get it from you."

Ren Jin remained nonchalant, saying, "Just tell them what you need to say. Don't worry about anything. I have a way of dealing with them, so don't fret."

Gu Yueji was still a little worried, but she completely trusted Ren Jin. To her, Ren Jin was the man who supported her. If he said there was no problem, she would believe him.

After He Mei and Gu Nianwang got into the car, looking at the spacious interior and luxurious decorations, and touching the leather seats, they felt more and more that this car was expensive.

He Mei thought to herself, if her son Gu Jiahui drove this car back to his hometown, how prestigious would that be? She would definitely invite her sister-in-law and nephew to come and see, and have them buy a beat-up little car to show off in front of her.

"This car must be expensive, right?" Gu Nianwang asked, leaning closer to Ren Jin.

Ren Jin looked at the road without even turning his head, and said truthfully, "A little over a million."

Gu Nianwang was stunned. He turned around incredulously and met He Mei's gaze.

"One...one million?!"

This is an astronomical figure for them.

He Mei's first reaction was, "How could you buy such an expensive car? How much debt must you owe?"

Gu Yueji was already quite anxious, but Ren Jin kept adding fuel to the fire, saying, "I earn much more than this car now."

He Mei and Gu Nianwang exchanged a silent glance after hearing this, each making their own plans.
