"Jiahui, Xiaohui."
Upon seeing Gu Jiahui and Sun Xiaohui at the entrance of the hotel's private room, He Mei and Gu Nianwang immediately beamed with joy and quickly went inside.
"Mom and Dad, you're here." Gu Jiahui and Sun Xiaohui stood up from their seats and came over to greet them.
He Mei pulled Gu Jiahui along, looking him over carefully from left to right, her eyes filled with joy.
She touched Gu Jiahui's face tenderly, "Why have you lost weight? Is work here very hard?"
Gu Jiahui shook his head. "I haven't lost weight. I've just gotten more muscular from exercising."
In order to look good in his clothes during the live stream, he deliberately worked out to improve his physique. His originally loose and flabby flesh turned into clearly defined muscles, and his weight actually increased instead of decreasing.
He Mei looked Gu Jiahui up and down again. His clothes were much more fashionable than when he was in his hometown, and he seemed more energetic and cheerful. "He seems to have become more handsome."
Sun Xiaohui, watching Gu Jiahui from the side, teased, "He's so vain now. He spends so much time doing his hair and choosing clothes before going out."
He Mei turned her head and tenderly stroked Sun Xiaohui's face, saying, "Xiaohui has become more beautiful too."
From the moment Sun Xiaohui agreed to come to the city with Gu Jiahui to work hard and earn money for their wedding, He Mei had already treated her as her daughter-in-law.
Gu Jiahui lifted Sun Xiaohui's hair, deliberately messing it up, "Who spent over an hour doing their makeup and hair? How dare you criticize me?"
Sun Xiaohui pouted, "I could have gone out already, but I went to get my hair done because you weren't ready yet."
"Anyway, I finished before you, so I'm waiting for you to leave."

The young couple bickered and teased each other, while He Mei and Gu Nianwang stood aside watching with smiles, their eyes filled with love and joy.
Watching their warm and joyful scene, Gu Yueji felt a surge of bittersweet emotion welling up inside her. This feeling was so familiar; she had experienced it since childhood—a strange chemical reaction that always occurred when she was with her family. She longed for the warmth of family; even just watching it made her feel involuntarily happy. But looking down at herself, she couldn't help but shed bittersweet tears, because she always seemed so out of place and lonely. Sometimes she thought that if she hadn't been born into this family, if she were just a complete stranger, perhaps she would be happier. Then she wouldn't crave it, and seeing He Mei and Gu Jia Hui's loving mother-son relationship would only bring her simple warmth.
“I suddenly want a daughter,” Ren Jin whispered in Gu Yueji’s ear as he held her close.
Gu Yueji snapped out of her daze and realized her eyes were burning. She quickly blinked and looked up at him, asking, "Why do you want a daughter?"
Ren Jin cupped her cheeks and gently wiped her moist eyes with his thumb. "Because I want to have a daughter who looks exactly like you, so I can raise you all over again. I will love her very much, more than her other brothers and sisters, and spoil her like a carefree and unrestrained princess."
The bittersweet feeling that had just subsided surged up again, and Gu Yueji nestled into Ren Jin's warm embrace, snuggling against him reassuringly.
Fortunately, she has him.
Ren Jin gently patted her back, "Are you hungry?"
This morning, with both a prenatal checkup and picking someone up from the station, Gu Yueji was already starving. She gave a slightly aggrieved "hmm."
Her soft, coquettish "hmm" sounded just like his adopted daughter, and Ren Jin hugged her tighter before letting go.
"Everyone's hungry, let's eat and chat."
Ren Jin interrupted He Mei and the others from continuing their conversation and called over a waiter to start ordering.
He Mei was excited when she heard about ordering food. This hotel was more luxurious and upscale than she had ever seen before, and she thought the food here must be delicious.
However, Ren Jin ordered several light dishes, including boiled shrimp and steamed fish. He Mei, who prefers salty and spicy food, had no appetite for these dishes. So she said to Ren Jin, "Zhao Di's father and I like strong flavors. Those shrimp and fish are too fishy. Let's change to something else."
Ren Jin replied without even lifting his eyelids, "Yueji loves to eat, and her diet is mainly light now, so she doesn't eat anything too strong." After ordering a few more dishes that Gu Yueji liked, he handed the menu to He Mei and the others, "Take a look and see what you want to eat before you order."
He Mei was stunned. So Ren Jin hadn't even considered ordering food for them? Was this the proper attitude a son-in-law should have when entertaining his parents-in-law?
He Mei grew angrier the more she thought about it, glaring angrily at Ren Jin, but Ren Jin didn't even look at He Mei, only pouring tea for Gu Yueji.
Gu Jiahui knew that Ren Jin didn't like his parents and wouldn't care about He Mei's feelings, so he quickly took the menu and said, "Mom, let me order. I know everyone's tastes. This meal is on me."
He Mei was unhappy when she heard that Gu Jiahui was supposed to pay. "With your sister and brother-in-law here, it's not your place to treat us."
Ren Jin raised an eyebrow and said casually, "You can't say that. His sister has made so much money with him, she should treat Gu Yueji to a nice meal."
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone present was stunned.
He Mei asked Ren Jin with surprise and confusion, "What do you mean?"
"Don't you know? Gu Jiahui and Sun Xiaohui are now live streamers at Gu Yueji's online store, and Gu Yueji pays their salaries."
Gu Yueji looked at Ren Jin in shock.
She and Gu Jiahui had previously agreed to tell their parents that Gu Jiahui worked as a salesperson in a clothing store. They didn't mention that he was a live streamer or that it was her store, because they were afraid that their parents would find out she had money and cause trouble. However, Ren Jin has now revealed everything without warning, and Gu Yueji has no idea what he's planning.
She reached out and tugged at Ren Jin's clothes, and he took her hand in return, patting it reassuringly.
