Ren Jin didn't bother with pleasantries and put away his smile. "Uncle Xu, I don't need you to think for me. You just need to think about yourself. If something happens, I'll be in trouble, but you might lose your life."
Uncle Xu chuckled and said, "I just can't change it right now. I'll be careful and promise it won't happen again. If it does happen again, you can deduct money from my pay, okay?"
Ren Jin shook his head. "There won't be a next time. I'm making this clear to you today. If we find you violating the site regulations again, don't come looking for me to say anything. Just pack your things and leave. It won't matter who you bring up then."

Before going home in the afternoon, Gu Yueji went to the hospital for a check-up. After taking the report home, she thought about several ways to let Ren Jin see it.
Sometimes she put it on the shoe cabinet by the entrance, thinking that Ren Jin would see it as soon as he walked in; sometimes she put it on the dressing table in the bedroom so that it wouldn't seem so deliberate; and sometimes she put it in her pocket, wanting to tell him in person that he was going to be a father.
After much thought, she decided not to tell him today, because next week is Ren Jin's birthday, and she plans to give him this report as a special birthday gift.
When Ren Jin returned home that evening, there was a meal laid out on the table. But when he turned around, he saw Gu Yueji lying on her side on the sofa, fast asleep.
I'm probably just too tired lately, and I drove for so long today.
He walked over, sat down on the carpet in front of the sofa, and rested his chin on his hand, looking at the sleeping person.
Her face was really small; he could cover it completely with his outstretched hand. Her eyelashes weren't very long, but they were naturally curled and fluttered whenever she looked at him. She also had a straight nose and rosy lips.
He didn't know why, but when he first saw Gu Yueji, he didn't think she was that pretty. Now, however, she was so beautiful that it made his heart flutter. She was like a rose with dewdrops on it, and he wanted to pick her.

Ren Jin paused, then finally stopped.
His gaze swept over Gu Yueji's face, his expression becoming cautious and complex.
Gu Yueji asked curiously, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
When do you get your period?
Gu Yueji felt guilty and lowered her voice, "Just in the next couple of days."
Ren Jin frowned as he looked at her. "You didn't go to the hospital for a checkup yourself, did you?"
Gu Yueji was taken aback, thinking he had discovered something. "No, why would I go to the hospital?"
Ren Jin sighed and lay down beside her. "It's best you didn't go. I was just afraid that if you weren't pregnant, you would overthink things and go to the hospital for a bunch of tests."
He thought he had a high chance of getting pregnant after going on this trip, but he didn't expect to still not conceive.
To be honest, he was also a little disappointed, but he couldn't let Gu Yueji see it, for fear of adding to her psychological pressure. Last time she insisted on going for a check-up, she felt unwell for several days afterward, and it pained him to see that.
Thinking that she might be under too much pressure, I hugged her and comforted her, saying, "A child is a gift from heaven. This gift is like a lottery ticket on the street. When our luck comes, we'll win. Don't put pressure on yourself, okay?"
Gu Yueji smiled silently upon hearing this, wanting to tell him that they were very lucky to have won the lottery, and that the prize was inside her belly.
But she still held back, saying, "I know, but I've been feeling unwell these past few days, so you have to pamper me."

Ren Jin chuckled, "When have I ever stopped spoiling you? What else would you want, the stars in the sky?"
Gu Yueji looked up at him, her eyes sparkling, "Is it okay?"
Ren Jin gently pinched her cheek. "No, your husband isn't capable of that."
Gu Yueji smiled and snuggled against him.
Ren Jin's heart softened as she nuzzled him, thinking that as long as she was happy, that was enough; the two of them were happy enough as they were. "Actually, not having children is also..."
However, before he could finish speaking, Gu Yueji covered his mouth and said, "Don't talk nonsense."
Ren Jin looked at her strangely, "Why can't you say it?"
Gu Yueji wanted to say that the child would be petty if he heard it, but she couldn't say it now, so she snuggled into his arms.
"I don't want to hear you, so I can't say it, and I'm never allowed to say it again."
