Chapter 269 The Rhythm of Extortion

"Moon, you...I...I'm your uncle!"

The announcement of the official's arrival startled Su Zhengxing, dispelling most of his drunkenness.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw a woman in brocade robes with a beautiful face appear at the entrance of the restaurant.

“Master, you’ve come at the right time. This man keeps saying he’s your relative.”

Hu Qing reacted to Jiang Shuyue as if she were his savior.

Jiang Shuyue nodded to Hu Qing, giving him a reassuring look.

Then he turned around and asked Qiuju behind him, "Do you know this person?"

Qiuju shook her head: "Miss, please don't joke. How could I possibly know this gentleman?"

“Yue’er, I’m your uncle. Take a good look at me.” Su Zhengxing saw that Jiang Shuyue was looking at him with a calm and indifferent gaze, as if she were looking at a stranger. He jumped up from his armchair.

When Qiuju saw Su Zhengxing rushing over, she quickly stepped forward to block Jiang Shuyue.

Seeing this, Hu Qing reached out and grabbed Su Zhengxing's arm.

Hu Qing may appear gentle and refined, but he is actually skilled in martial arts. Su Zhengxing winced in pain and retreated.

Jiang Shuyue concealed her expression and stepped forward, saying, "Esteemed guest, my daughter comes from Yannan and has no relatives in the capital. Please don't try to claim kinship with me in the future."

"You, you really aren't?" Su Zhengxing was dumbfounded.

The girl in front of him looked a lot like his niece, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it; he felt there was something different about her.

No, after so many years, girls change a lot as they grow up. The Jiang family all agree that she must be their niece.

Su Zhengxing rubbed his eyes, his eyes red, and said, "Yue'er, have you lost your memory? It doesn't matter if you don't remember your uncle. Go back with your uncle and see the courtyard where your mother used to live, and you will remember."

“Moon! Do you remember the grape vine in that yard? When you were little, you used to ride on your uncle’s shoulders to pick grapes.”

Su Zhengxing emotionally recounted Jiang Shuyue's childhood experiences, trying to evoke her memories.

Jiang Shuyue watched coldly from the sidelines.

She knew very well that if the original owner's uncle were in modern times, he would definitely be an Oscar winner.

If she were to pick up where he left off and try to explain, he would definitely take advantage of her and keep going on and on.

Before long, Su Zhengxing was crying and sobbing uncontrollably.

Upon hearing the news, Nangong Zeyue rushed to Jiang Shuyue's side and whispered, "This person is really..."

"No, I don't know him."

Seeing that the owner and the two managers were present, the waiter asked, "Boss, what should we do? Should we report it to the authorities?"

In everyone's eyes, this is not a simple matter of dining and dashing; it's a case of extortion.

Jiang Shuyue nodded slightly to Hu Qing and walked inside.

"Moon, do you really not acknowledge your uncle anymore? Your mother in heaven will be restless!"

The sound was heart-wrenching, attracting strange looks from other guests.

Jiang Shuyue walked towards the second floor of the inn without looking back.

Nangong Zeyue caught up from behind, "Yue Niang, is that person really not your uncle?"

Jiang Shuyue said calmly, "No."

"No, that person spoke with sincerity; it didn't sound like a lie."

Jiang Shuyue climbed the steps, with Nangong Zeyue following closely behind.

Qiuju quickly followed and said to Nangong Zeyue, "Young Master Nangong, please don't ask Miss anymore. The inside story is too complicated to explain in a few words."

Upon arriving at the accounting office on the second floor, Jiang Shuyue still chose to tell the truth about why she couldn't acknowledge her relatives.

After listening to Jiang Shuyue's words, Nangong Zeyue said decisively, "We can't accept this relationship. Yueniang, you've finally managed to live a peaceful life. Once you get entangled with this kind of bloodsucking relative, it will never end."

In the lobby.

Seeing that Jiang Shuyue was completely ignoring him, Su Zhengxing felt as if he had punched a cotton ball.

Seeing that the waiter was really going to report to the authorities, he quickly shouted, "Wait, what authorities? I didn't say I wouldn't pay the bill."

Su Zhengxing searched his pockets for a while before finally pulling out a silver ingot and a string of copper coins and placing them on the table.

"Here, that's all. I don't have any more."

The waiter picked up the copper coins and counted them. After a moment, he said, "Sir, you are still short one hundred coins."

Su Zhengxing said angrily, "Your boss is my own niece. So what if she's short 100 coins? You can't send me to the authorities just because of 100 coins."

Seeing Su Zhengxing's demeanor, Hu Qing had already guessed most of what was going on.

He said calmly, "Stop talking nonsense. Our boss is from out of town. She's no one to you. You don't need to send the hundred coins to the authorities. I'll send someone with you back to your residence to get them, okay?"

Seeing that his tantrums and unreasonable behavior were ineffective, Su Zhengxing realized that if he continued to persist, he would be sent to the authorities and officials would come to his house to demand money.

He had no choice but to follow Hu Qing's suggestion and leave with the waiter amidst the complicated gazes of the crowd.

When Qin saw her husband return, she excitedly grabbed Su Zhengxing's sleeve, "Master, was Yue'er overjoyed to see you? Did she say when she would come to visit the Su family?"

Su Zhengxing shook his head in frustration. "She said she didn't know me and even sent someone to my house to collect the money."

"What? What kind of silver?" Madam Qin stared wide-eyed in disbelief.

Su Zhengxing moved aside the body blocking the doorway, and the waiter behind him stepped forward and bowed, saying, "Madam, this gentleman has spent a total of one tael and three hundred copper coins at the restaurant. He has already paid part of it, but he still owes one hundred copper coins. I am here to collect the rest."

"how so?"

"You damned bastard! I asked you to go and acknowledge your relatives, but you ended up with a mountain of debt!" Madam Qin was so angry she wanted to kill someone.

"Madam, don't be in such a hurry. It's just a hundred coins! Give it to me quickly, don't embarrass yourself." Su Zhengxing said as he stepped aside.

"You still have any shame! Your son told you to look carefully when ordering, did your eyes disappear into your crotch?" Madam Qin jumped up and started cursing.

With the waiter nearby, Qin Shi's cursing was too vulgar, and Su Zhengxing, being a paid employee, still had some dignity to maintain.

He pointed at Qin and roared, "Merchant's daughters are vulgar! Shut up! Quickly take the money and let others go back to report!"

"Now you're looking down on me because I'm a merchant's daughter? Look at what you're wearing, isn't everything a gift from my family? Without me, a merchant's daughter, you, surnamed Su, probably wouldn't even have underwear to wear!"

Qin didn't care about saving face and started cursing loudly.

"You, you vulgar shrew, I won't stoop to your level." Su Zhengxing was so angry that he couldn't speak properly.

Hearing the shouting and cursing from inside the courtyard, Su Peng and Jiang Jiaojiao quickly ran out.

"Father! Mother! Why are you two arguing again?"

"My son! Your father is a scoundrel. He overate at the restaurant, and now they're demanding payment. He still owes the restaurant a hundred coins. Where am I supposed to find the money to pay him?"

"I'm so unlucky! To have met such a spendthrift."

As Qin spoke, she covered her face and wept. It wasn't that she had no money left, but that she wanted Jiang Jiaojiao to give her the money.

Upon seeing his son and daughter-in-law come out, Su Zhengxing dashed towards the east courtyard.

Seeing the waiter standing in the courtyard, Su Peng said to Jiang Jiaojiao, "Madam, give him some money to send him away first, and I'll make up for it when my monthly allowance comes."

Jiang Jiaojiao: "..."
