Faced with her husband's renewed request for help, Jiang Jiaojiao thought that one hundred coins wasn't much, and she was more interested in knowing what had happened in the restaurant, so she instructed Caiyan to get the money.
The waiter took the money and left, and Qin Shi, Su Peng, and Jiang Jiaojiao hurriedly ran to the east courtyard.
After listening to Su Zhengxing's account, Su Peng and Qin Shi were both stunned.
Jiang Jiaojiao felt utterly chilled.
Even my maternal uncle can't help me, what should I do?
Looking at the mottled window frame and then at her mother-in-law whose eyes were red from crying, Jiang Jiaojiao seemed to see the chaotic days of the rest of her life.
Su Zhengxing sighed helplessly, while Qin Shi wiped away her tears and cursed.
One moment she's berating her husband for being wasteful, the next she's accusing Jiang Shuyue of being heartless and ungrateful.
Seeing that his parents' room was too noisy, Su Peng simply threw off his sleeves and went out to find his cronies to drink and relieve his boredom.
Jiang Jiaojiao returned to the courtyard dejectedly. Caiyan said worriedly, "Miss, this path is blocked. We offended the eldest young lady badly before, and she won't acknowledge us anymore."
"What can we do? We can't exactly have Father kneel down in front of the Jiang residence and beg for her forgiveness, can we?"
Caiyan's eyes darted around. "Miss, your idea is really good. As long as the eldest young lady is willing to acknowledge you and the master, what does it matter if the entire mansion kneels before her?"
“It’s not as easy as you say. She’s a big shot in the capital’s elite circles now. It’s difficult for us to even see her once, let alone for the whole mansion to see her at the same time.” Jiang Jiaojiao sat on the edge of the bed with a worried look on her face.
Jiang Jiaojiao's wishful thinking of marrying into the Su family fell through, and she was filled with regret. If she had known this would happen, she shouldn't have listened to her aunt's arrangements.
Even marrying into a wealthy family as a concubine would be better than living in the Su family.
That evening, Su Peng returned home drunk.
Upon seeing Su Peng, Jiang Jiaojiao felt hopeful again. Her husband was young and handsome, and if she were to start a dyeing business in the future, perhaps she could also live a good life.
That night, Jiang Jiaojiao consummated her marriage with Su Peng with great anticipation.
As night fell, the two washed up and settled in. Jiang Jiaojiao was passionate and fiery, while Su Peng finished in a hurry.
Afterwards, Jiang Jiaojiao stared wide-eyed at the dark tent ceiling, her mind filled with countless questions she couldn't voice.
If you say your husband is inexperienced in matters of the bedroom, he is quite adept at it; if you say he is a man of experience, he comes and goes as quickly as a naive young man.
After taking a bath, the two of them went back to bed.
Jiang Jiaojiao was preoccupied with worries and couldn't sleep. Just as she was about to drift off to sleep, Su Peng quietly rolled out of bed.
On the small couch in the outer room of the master bedroom, Caiyan listened intently to the sounds coming from the inner room.
Miss used to stay up until the second watch of the night with Young Master Wei, why is it so quiet today?
This is not normal. Could it be that the son-in-law has a hidden illness?
What if the son-in-law has a hidden illness and she can't get pregnant? Does she have to be a nameless concubine for the rest of her life?
Caiyan turned over and continued to daydream.
Suddenly, a large hand wrapped around her from behind, and then she heard her son-in-law's voice in her ear, "Yan'er, I've missed you so much."
"Young master, you... um..."
His warm lips sealed Caiyan's mouth, and Su Peng leaned in, his waist pressed against something unseen, and Caiyan's face instantly burned.
To serve her master, Caiyan wore her nightgown at night, and it took Su Peng quite a while to remove the extra clothing from her body.
Tender yet passionate kisses rained down on her, and the young master's slender fingers, like those of a skilled musician, plucked at Caiyan's heartstrings. The two quickly fell in love, oblivious to the passage of time.
"Young master, it hurts."
Hearing Caiyan's soft gasp, Su Peng became even more excited.
He kissed Caiyan's earlobe and coaxed her gently, "Yan'er, don't make a sound. Just bear with it a little longer, and you'll like it soon."
Caiyan immediately understood what her son-in-law meant; he was afraid that the young lady in the inner room would feel resentful if she heard too much noise.
Caiyan had no choice but to grit her teeth and endure the onslaught of her son-in-law's affections.
In the heat of their passion, the two disregarded everything else, and their suppressed moans still reached Jiang Jiaojiao's ears.
Suddenly, a gust of wind picked up outside the window, making the window frame creak and groan.
With the whispers of the wind fading away, the two men in the outer room became even more unrestrained.
Hearing that ambiguous voice, Jiang Jiaojiao gritted her teeth. Her fingers dug into her palms, and a stinging pain shot through her. She shuddered and pulled the covers over her head.
Jiang Jiaojiao had no idea when things had calmed down outside.
When she woke up in the morning, she saw Su Peng sleeping soundly beside her like a dead pig.
Thinking about how he had brushed her off last night before getting intimate with Caiyan, Jiang Jiaojiao was furious.
She pushed Su Peng hard. "Aren't you going to the dye house today?"
"Stop fooling around, I'm going to sleep a little longer." Su Peng turned over and went back to sleep.
Jiang Jiaojiao dared not continue sleeping. Caiyan had served her husband last night, and she had to prepare a contraceptive soup.
Qin had sent away the concubines in the mansion a few years ago, so there was naturally no medicine for contraception in the mansion.
Jiang Jiaojiao got up, washed up, and didn't even have time to eat breakfast. She took the money and went out of the mansion to find a pharmacy.
After leaving the Su family's gate and walking down the street, they soon saw a pharmacy.
I asked the price, and a packet of contraceptive soup cost five coins.
Seeing Jiang Jiaojiao hesitate, the young apprentice said, "This medicine is mild and won't harm your body. As long as you stop taking it, you can still get pregnant after a month."
"Is there any medicine that might harm your health?" Jiang Jiaojiao pressed.
The young pharmacist glanced at Jiang Jiaojiao. "Other pharmacies sell them for three coins a pack, but they make money off of the wrong means. We don't sell them to them."
Thinking that every penny she spent was precious, and fearing that Caiyan might get pregnant before her, Jiang Jiaojiao gritted her teeth, left the pharmacy, and continued walking forward.
