Chapter 125 Being Followed

Chapter 125 Being Followed

Not long after Lu Qingqing left, Wen Wanwan received a call from Wen Huai'an.

Grandma was hospitalized due to a relapse of her illness.

Wen Wanwan has also left.

Looking at the large table of food, Shi Yang had no choice but to eat it all himself.

She eats for a while, then rests, then eats for a while more, then rests for a while more…

In the end, they couldn't finish it.

After leaving the hot pot restaurant, Shi Yang let out a heavy burp and strolled slowly along the street to digest his food.

Wandering around, I came across a bustling night market. The streets were lined with all sorts of stalls, with all kinds of strange and wonderful trinkets that dazzled my eyes. The air was filled with the enticing aroma of barbecue, and the place was bustling with people and full of lively atmosphere.

Shi Yang strolled around with great interest for a while, and feeling much better in her stomach, she continued walking forward.

She planned to walk back; she knew there was a shortcut nearby that would get her back to West Kau Yue faster.

As you step into the alley, the visibility becomes dim.

This path was secluded and rarely used; she regretted it after walking for a while.

Because the road was so dark, the further she walked, the more the noise and bustle behind her gradually faded away, and the only sounds around her were her breathing and the occasional sound of her stepping on withered branches and leaves.

The further I walked, the more I regretted it; it was just too dark here.

She walked through it with a friend many years ago, when there were still a few streetlights in the alley.

Now there are no lights left, and she can only rely on her phone's flashlight for light.

Shi Yang glanced back. They had already gone so far that going back was not a practical matter, so he could only grit his teeth and quicken his pace.

Two figures appeared ahead, and as they drew closer, she could faintly smell the stench of alcohol emanating from them.

Their steps were unsteady, and their figures swayed.

We've run into a drunkard!

Shi Yang turned off the flashlight, gritted his teeth and walked forward, keeping his eyes straight ahead.

I could still feel the malicious looks in their eyes when we passed each other.

She didn't dare look back until she had walked quite a distance, making sure the two drunkards were far away before turning her flashlight back on.

Perhaps it's because people tend to overthink in the dark, but Shi Yang's mind was filled with dangerous scenarios, which made her breathe faster in fear.

It's okay, it's okay, you're just scaring yourself.

That's how I comforted myself.

"Crack..."

Suddenly, I heard the sound of footsteps on dry branches.

And she walked on flat ground as if on solid ground.

She didn't step on it!

Shi Yang felt a cold sweat break out on his back. He looked back, but there was nothing there.

She turned around and took a step, and the noise came from behind her again. When she stopped, the noise disappeared.

She's being followed!

This realization caused her breathing to become disordered, her hair to stand on end, and her scalp to tingle.

Clutching her phone tightly, she walked and dialed Ji Peiheng's number.

No one answered her first call.

Shi Yang pretended to put the phone to her ear: "Hello? Honey, oh... wait for me at the intersection ahead..."

In reality, her entire focus was on the movements behind her.

She could even feel the increasingly undisguised footsteps behind her.

He went faster and faster, his movements becoming increasingly urgent.

Shi Yang's expression changed, and he ran away wildly, not daring to look back.

Ji Peiheng made a phone call while running.

Her voice was already out of control: "I'm being followed..."

Ji Peiheng's voice was serious and decisive: "Where are you?"

In a panic, Shi Yang revealed his location: "He's chasing me..."

"Don't be afraid, walk towards where there are more people, it's okay... I'm here... Don't be afraid..."

The man's deep voice was reassuring, dispelling her initial panic.

Shi Yang took a few deep breaths, trying to stay calm and discern the direction.

The alleyways were a maze of lanes. She turned into another alleyway and saw a light ahead, which made her happy.

She had just taken a step when a figure suddenly darted out and grabbed her wrist.

ah--

Shi Yang screamed and struggled violently.

"Shi Yang, that's me."

Liang Jin's face appeared in my confused and hazy vision.

Shi Yang looked at him, still shaken: "Someone...someone is following me..."

Liang Jin looked behind her and said, "No, you must be mistaken."

"Impossible, someone is definitely following me."

"...Oh, so the bad guys ran away when they saw me appear?"

Liang Jin guessed, "It's possible that some bad guy saw you walking alone at night and had malicious intentions. Don't worry, it's okay. I'm here, I'll take you home."

Shi Yang stared at him without moving.

His figure was hidden in the shadows, and she couldn't see his expression.

Liang Jin's arrival did not make her feel safe at all. The road she was on was remote. Where did he come from?

"What are you standing there for? Let's go."

He smiled at her.

That smile sent chills down her spine.

"Where did you come from? How did you know I was here?" Shi Yang followed him for a couple of steps and then stopped, looking at him warily.

"It's quite a coincidence. I was having dinner with some friends nearby when I saw you at the night market. I was worried about you, a girl, going into such a secluded place, so I followed you to check on you."

He spoke with ease and naturalness.

It really seems like a coincidence.

Shi Yang didn't think it was a coincidence; she had run into him far too many times lately.

"Senior, I just remembered I have some things to do, so I can't go with you."

She turned to leave.

Then a sinister voice came from behind: "Are you afraid that your senior is a bad guy? Don't you trust your senior?"

Shi Yang turned around. He stood there smiling, his expression gloomy. His eye was covered by his hair, making it appear even more sinister.

"Senior, how could you possibly be a bad person? I really have something to do."

"Why do I feel like the younger female students always treat me like a bad guy? They're always avoiding me."

Liang Jin approached her step by step, while Shi Yang retreated step by step.

"sister in law!"

A familiar face calling her "sister-in-law" brought Shi Yang to tears of joy.

Not far away, Wen Huai'an waved to her, as did Xie Ran.

"I really have something to do, I have to go now."

Shi Yang jogged towards them: "What brings you here?"

They were travel-worn: "It was my brother who called us and said you were being followed. He gave us a location, and we've been searching for you ever since."

Xie Ran handed her his coat: "Sister-in-law, it's windy at night, you can wear my coat first."

Shi Yang sat in the car until they took her back to Xijiuyue.

She felt a sense of relief, as if she had survived a disaster.

As soon as he got home, Ji Peiheng called.

Shi Yang sat wearily on the sofa: "I'm home."

She was too tired to talk, so Ji Peiheng offered her a few words of comfort.

Hearing the man's gentle words of comfort, she felt a pang of grievance and her nose stung with tears.

She composed herself, trying not to let him hear her sobbing, and hung up after a few perfunctory words.

The huge villa was empty except for her; Aunt Cui had taken the day off yesterday because her daughter was sick.

She made sure the doors and windows were closed before going upstairs to take a shower.
