Chapter 12 I'm afraid you'll be scared, so I'll stay with you.
Shi Yang forced himself to hold back.
After finishing, Ji Peiheng wiped the remaining ointment from his fingertips onto a piece of paper.
He said in a serious tone, "Looks like I'll have to be gentler next time."
Shi Yang's ears couldn't take the stimulation anymore, so she burrowed into the blankets, covering herself from head to toe: "I'm going to sleep."
A muffled voice came from behind: "Let's sleep in separate rooms for the next few days."
Ji Peiheng asked, "How many days?"
Shi Yang spoke for seven days straight.
Ji Peiheng nodded: "Okay, then it seems we'll have to apply the medicine for the next seven days."
Shi Yang shuddered and immediately changed his mind: "Three days, three days is fine."
"Can."
The door was closed again, and Ji Peiheng left.
Shi Yang yanked the blanket off, took a deep breath, and touched her cheek, which was still burning hot.
She got out of bed and opened the window wider.
Let the cool breeze blow in.
...
Shi Yang was awakened by thunder and lightning.
She was so frightened that she broke out in a cold sweat and curled up in the blankets, trembling.
After a while, the rain poured down, the sky howled wildly, and the noise grew louder and louder.
Each time a clap of thunder rang out, she trembled uncontrollably. Lightning flashed across the sky once more, its pale light striking the window and pulling her memory back to that dark summer when she was seven.
She huddled helplessly behind the trash can, her nose filled with mud and stench, as if the downpour was about to swallow her whole.
She bit her hand tightly, afraid of making a sound, afraid that those people would find her and drag her into an endless abyss. She was so anxious that Ji Peiheng, who was also afraid of thunder, waited for a while but she didn't come.
With the next second of lightning, Shi Yang practically rushed out of the bedroom.
He gritted his teeth and pushed open the door.
Ji Peiheng was leaning against the headboard, one long leg bent, an iPad resting on the other, his posture casual. His silk pajamas had a daringly open neckline, and he wore a pair of half-rimmed silver glasses, which made his features appear even more refined and noble.
Hearing the noise, he looked up.
Shi Yang coughed and said, "It's going to rain tonight, and I was afraid you'd be scared, so I came to keep you company."
Ji Peiheng raised an eyebrow, a half-smile playing on his lips.
Four words suddenly appeared in Shi Yang's mind: "refined scoundrel".
She lay down and watched him remain motionless, occasionally letting out a soft "hmm".
I turned my head and realized he was in a meeting.
The meeting lasted quite a while, and Shi Yang was a little sleepy, but she was a light sleeper and had difficulty falling asleep even if the people around her made quiet noises.
I tossed and turned, trying to fall asleep.
Ji Peiheng shifted his gaze from her back to the tablet, interrupting the department manager who was still talking: "Let's talk about it tomorrow, my wife wants to sleep."
The entire conference room fell silent for a moment.
In the past, it was common for them to have meetings with President Ji until the early hours of the morning. They almost forgot that President Ji is now a married man.
The department manager gave an awkward smile: "Then I wish you and your wife sweet dreams."
Ji Peiheng left the meeting room and turned off the tablet.
Just as he lay down, he noticed the person next to him shivering. Ji Peiheng reached out and pulled the person close, and the other person seemed to have been waiting for a long time, impatiently reaching out to hug him.
Another sweet dream.
The sky had cleared, and Shi Yang went downstairs in a good mood.
Aunt Cui made a steaming hot Chinese breakfast.
Steamed buns, fried dough sticks, soy milk, sesame paste.
These are all foods that Shi Yang likes to eat. After a bowl of hot sesame paste, his stomach felt warm and cozy.
Aunt Cui brought the flowers back inside, but after a night of wind and rain, they were half-dead.
Aunt Cui sighed with heartache: "The rain came so suddenly yesterday that I didn't have time to move them back beforehand. What a pity. These are the flowers that the master likes the most."
Speaking of Ji Peiheng, she casually asked, "Has Ji Peiheng always been so afraid of thunder?"
Aunt Cui gave her a strange look: "You mean the master? I've taken care of him for over twenty years, and I've never heard of him being afraid of these things."
Shi Yang was stunned.
A phone call interrupted her daze.
As soon as the call connected, Shi Xing's harsh words came through: "Shi Yang, are you bullying my older sister again? Didn't I warn you before I left that if you made my older sister unhappy, I'd deal with you when I got back..."
Shi Yang interrupted him coldly: "What's wrong with you? Why are you acting crazy in front of me? Go to a mental hospital or I don't have time to play your crazy game."
Shi Xing's arrogance grew even stronger: "You wait, I'll graduate soon, wait for me to come back..."
"Then remember to get lost and not get in my way!" Shi Yang hung up the phone immediately.
Shi Xing is the youngest son of the Shi family. In his eyes, only Shi Yue is his real older sister.
Shi Xing's little squabbles didn't affect her mood. After breakfast, she put on makeup, changed into a business suit, and went to the company.
After the morning meeting ended, Xiaoyan came over and asked, "Sis, have you been feeling unwell these past few days while on sick leave?"
Shi Yang hummed in agreement: "It's all better now. Any new developments at the company lately?"
"Nothing new, except for that old hag. We're going to a meeting at the Ji Corporation this afternoon, and she's already dressed up in her finest. Looks like she's planning to make a move on President Ji."
Shi Yang lowered her head and took a sip of water, then asked casually, "But I heard that Ji Peiheng got married, didn't he?"
