Chapter 31 If you don't love your daughter, we'll love her from now on.

What are you saying?

Song Zhihua's voice was unusually cold: "Stop pretending, bring the person back to me right now."

Shi Yang's mind began to slowly work.

Ji Peiheng came to find her that day. After she woke up, she didn't ask any questions because she subconsciously thought that Shi Xing had already returned to the Ji family.

If they didn't go back, could they be in Ji Peiheng's hands?

Beneath Song Zhihua's cold voice lay barely concealed anxiety: "I'm talking to you."

Shi Yang scoffed coldly: "He knew I was afraid of the dark, and deliberately had me kidnapped and locked up. Why should I let him go?"

Song Zhihua panicked and could hardly remain calm: "He has his own way of being educated by us as parents when he does something wrong, so don't do anything rash."

Shi Yang gave a sneer: "A few mild words, and that's it. Is that what you call education? Is that fair to me?"

Song Zhihua said coldly, "What do you want?"

"It's only natural for an older sister to discipline her younger brother, so you don't need to worry about it."

Song Zhihua wanted to say something more, but the call was already disconnected.

"How is it?" Shi Bin asked.

Seeing her displeasure, Shi Bin knew the outcome and slammed his hand on the table: "This child is getting more and more outrageous. Does she really think that just because she's married, we can't control her anymore?"

Shi Yue bit her lip and voiced her concern: "What if Yangyang really does something to my brother?"

"What else can we do? Let him suffer it himself!"

Shi Bin got angry when this was mentioned: "Why did he come back for no reason?"

He asked Shi Yue, who was lost in thought, "You contact him frequently, do you know that he ran away and came back?"

Shi Yue guiltily looked away, saying, "I don't know."

Song Zhihua took a sip of tea: "It seems I have to go to the Ji family. Since she doesn't listen to us, does she dare to disobey her in-laws as well?"

...

Shi Yang was jolted awake by a phone call, and the headache that had just subsided was showing signs of flaring up again.

She got out of bed and went to the study next door.

Ji Peiheng tightened his jaw as he stared at the computer screen, from which different voices occasionally came through.

Looks like they're in a meeting.

He was different when he was working; his eyes were sharp, his thin lips were slightly pursed, his expression was serious and focused, and his brows would sometimes furrow. The interplay of light and shadow on the computer screen revealed the composure and ambition in his eyes.

Ji Peiheng kept his eyes on the screen, but asked, "What's wrong?"

Shi Yang realized that he was talking to her and said, "Are you busy right now? I have something I want to ask you."

"Ask away."

Where is Shi Xing?

Ji Peiheng looked up: "The Shi family is looking for you?"

Shi Yang was surprised that he could figure out the cause and effect of the matter based on just one sentence from her.

"Um."

Ji Peiheng said calmly, "You don't need to worry about it. I'll handle things with the Shi family."

Shi Yang pondered the meaning behind those words, his heart skipped a beat, and he blurted out, "Is he still alive?"

The air was still for a few seconds.

"Shi Yang." Ji Peiheng chuckled, raising a brow at the corner of his eye: "What kind of person am I in your heart?"

He's definitely not a good person...

I remember he got into a fight in high school, blinded someone, and even went to jail.

Shi Yang felt that there were some things he wasn't incapable of doing.

This seemingly refined and virtuous man is actually unruly and unrestrained at heart.

Even so, he couldn't kill someone for her.

If anything happens to him because of this, she will feel guilty for the rest of her life.

Seeing the panic in her eyes, Ji Peiheng decided to tease her and deliberately asked, "What if I really kill someone?"

His words reassured Shi Yang, who knew he couldn't possibly do such a thing.

She answered the question seriously: "If you really killed someone for me, I will take the blame for you and go to jail for you."

Ji Peiheng stared at her for a while, then reached out to her: "Come here."

Shi Yang walked up to him, about to ask where he had hidden Shi Xing.

But he pulled her directly onto his lap.

He pressed her head against his shoulder and asked, "What do you want to do with Shi Xing?"

Shi Yang said, "I want to see him."

"Okay," Ji Peiheng agreed readily, "but only after you've recovered."

Shi Yang nodded. She was still feeling weak when she walked, so she decided to wait until she felt better before going out.

A quick glance revealed a human head on the computer screen, and she struggled to get down: "Someone's watching."

Ji Peiheng pressed on her waist without moving: "Let them watch."

She tried to speak, but her lips were sealed.

Shi Yang's eyes widened. She didn't have a penchant for being watched while being intimate, and she was so frightened that she pushed him away even harder: "Have you no shame?"

Ji Peiheng said in a cocky tone, "No, thank you."

"If you don't want it, I still do." Shi Yang bit him.

Feeling the pain, Ji Peiheng released her, raising an eyebrow: "You've learned to bite? Are you a puppy?"

Shi Yang thought back to when he was at the Ji family, all his employees and subordinates treated him with absolute respect. If they saw him like this now, wouldn't they feel that his image had been shattered?

Besides, what if someone recognizes her?

She glanced nervously at the screen and noticed that their gazes were all out of focus, clearly not on them.

She then noticed that the camera in the lower right corner, which belonged to Ji Peiheng, was turned off.

She frowned and demanded, "You turned off the camera?"

Ji Peiheng remained noncommittal.

Shi Yang glared: "Then why didn't you say so?"

"You didn't ask..."

Shi Yang: "..."

She got off him angrily and stomped away. When she was almost at the door, she turned back and, under Ji Peiheng's watchful gaze, stomped heavily on his foot and ground it a few times.

Ji Peiheng smiled helplessly; he was so easily angered.

After she left, his gaze returned to the computer: "Let's continue."

The people in the conference room coughed awkwardly twice and said, "Mr. Ji and his wife have such a good relationship."

He forgot to tell Shi Yang that the camera was off, but the microphone was on.

So everyone heard what was happening.

Ji Peiheng smiled noncommittally.

...

The moonlight was like water, and the night was deep.

Qin Lan put on a face mask and lay on the sofa watching TV.

Song Zhihua suddenly showed up at the door.

Why did they arrive in the middle of the night? Qin Lan instructed the servants to entertain them first.

I went to the bathroom and washed my face.

Upon meeting, Song Zhihua said with a heavy heart, "My dear in-law, if I hadn't encountered some trouble, I wouldn't have bothered you so late."

Qin Lan sat down: "What happened?"

Song Zhihua: "It's really a family misfortune. Shi Yang and Shi Xing had a small conflict, and now Shi Xing's whereabouts are unknown. Shi Yang is deliberately not telling us where he is. I'm really worried."

Qin Lan asked, "What conflict did they have?"

"It was just a small disagreement. Shi Xing and her sister were just joking around," Song Zhihua tried to gloss over the issue.

Qin Lan immediately saw the problem and pressed for details, asking, "What exactly happened?"

Seeing that she was determined to get to the bottom of things, Song Zhihua reluctantly explained the reason, and then said, "I know that Xiaoxing was wrong to do this, and we will naturally teach him a lesson. But it's not right for Shi Yang to hold him hostage."

As mothers, Song Zhihua tried to gain recognition from Qin Lan, but when she looked up, Qin Lan sneered twice: "My dear in-law, your mind is biased to the Southern Hemisphere."

"Shi Xing, as the younger brother, has no respect for his older sister whatsoever. He actually let thugs kidnap his own sister. I listened for a long time and didn't hear a single word of concern from his in-laws for their daughter. All they said was to show concern for their son. It's clear that even if your son were in your hands, you wouldn't care. No wonder your son, who has been spoiled like this, would do such a despicable thing!"

"If your children don't get along, frankly, you parents are really failing!"

Qin Lan's words were anything but polite, and she fiercely rebuked him: "In my opinion, your lawless son should also be taught a lesson. You should be glad that he is not my son, otherwise I would have beaten him so badly that he couldn't get out of bed for three days."

Song Zhihua always prided herself on being a knowledgeable and cultured person, and she usually spoke to people in a calm and composed manner. Even when she was unhappy, she was the one who would reprimand others.

This is the first time I've ever been verbally abused to my face.

Her face flushed red and then turned pale, and she stammered for a long time without finding a suitable rebuttal.

“Mother-in-law, you’re going a bit too far. Shi Yang is also my daughter, I…”

"And then what are you trying to say? Are you in pain for Yangyang? I'm sorry I didn't see that." Qin Lan said in a calmer tone, "I understand your purpose today, you want your in-laws to put pressure on your daughter-in-law. Then you've come for nothing, go back."

"If you don't love your daughter, we'll love her from now on!"

Song Zhihua nodded angrily, picked up her bag, turned around and left: "It was definitely a wasted trip."
