Chapter 72 You're my husband, if I don't care about you, who will I care about?
He gripped her wrist tightly with his other free hand and kissed her passionately.
Shi Yang was afraid of getting involved with his other hand, so she didn't dare to move at all.
He kissed her relentlessly; his body was cold, yet his lips were incredibly hot.
He pressed his lips tightly against hers, his kiss filled with surging emotions that were about to overflow.
Shi Yang could sense that he was emotionally unstable, so she reached out and hugged him in response, trying to soothe him.
After a while, Ji Peiheng finally calmed down. He lay down next to her and let out a satisfied sigh.
The first thing Shi Yang did after getting up was to look at the back of his hand.
An abnormal swelling has appeared on the back of my hand.
She pressed the emergency call button, and a nurse came to help. She watched as the nurse pulled the needle out.
They disinfected it again and then inserted the needle into another spot.
For some reason, the back of his hand was bruised in several places and swollen.
Shi Yang felt a sharp pain in his eyes and turned away.
Ji Peiheng caught her subtle movement, a pale smile appearing on his lips: "It's me who's being stabbed, not you, what are you afraid of?"
Without hesitation, Shi Yang said, "I'll take your pain for you."
Ji Peiheng raised an eyebrow.
Undoubtedly, this remark pleased him.
The nurse inserted the needle, taped it on, and said in a stern tone, "You've already had three injections this morning. Let this medicine finish properly and stop fussing over it."
Shi Yang asked, "What do you mean, 'three times'?"
Ji Peiheng showed a fleeting awkwardness and changed the subject: "Just twice, she was wrong."
Shi Yang moved a small stool and sat down next to the hand that was receiving the acupuncture: "No. I have to keep an eye on you to prevent you from moving again."
Ji Peiheng lowered his dark eyelashes, looked at her for a moment with an ambiguous expression, and asked, "Are you so concerned about me?"
With a cautious, tentative approach.
I wasn't expecting any answer anyway.
"You're my husband, who else should I care about if not you?"
He suddenly looked up.
The little girl sat on a small stool, a little lower than the bed, cupping her face in her hands, squeezing out some chubby flesh, her eyes sparkling, her face full of seriousness.
Ji Peiheng's Adam's apple bobbed.
That's enough, that's enough.
If he hadn't just had his injections reinserted and was in such an inconvenient situation, he would have loved to pull the person close and kiss them passionately for a while longer.
Suppressing her impulse, she changed the subject: "I'm hungry."
“You can’t eat anything too oily or salty right now. I asked Aunt Cui to make something suitable for you. I’ll go back and get it now.”
Ji Peiheng said with dissatisfaction, "I'm a patient right now, and I'm still on an IV drip. When we remove the needle, there won't even be anyone to call a nurse. What are you planning to do if there's an emergency?"
After hearing what he said, Shi Yang felt it would be inappropriate to leave him alone if she went back now: "Hmm... then I'll ask Wen Huai'an to come and see you for a while."
Ji Peiheng gritted his teeth: "Wen Huai'an is my brother, not my son. He's a great doctor, he doesn't need to work."
"Shi Yang, do you know how outrageous you are? By taking up a little of Wen Huai'an's time, you mean that many patients have lost their doctors, and some may even miss this treatment and be in danger of losing their lives."
Shi Yang was a little intimidated, feeling that if she called Wen Huai'an over for a while, she would become an executioner who would take other people's lives.
"Okay, then I'll call Aunt Cui and have her bring it over."
Ji Peiheng leaned back against the headboard with satisfaction, his voice filled with undisguised pleasure: "It's getting cold outside, tell Aunt Cui to wear more clothes."
After a while, Xie Ran arrived.
"Look, which sickly beauty is this?"
Xie Ran rarely saw Ji Peiheng so vulnerable, and couldn't help but tease him a few times.
They slipped away before the person in bed had an attack.
As soon as he stepped outside, he ran into Wen Huai'an, who was lurking suspiciously outside the door.
"Old Wen, are you doing something like a thief? A new profession, huh?"
Wen Huai'an pulled him into the stairwell and whispered to him about the misunderstanding that almost happened last night because of him.
Xie Ran looked at him speechlessly: "I'm not trying to criticize you, but were you out of your mind the other day? You're the one with the highest EQ among us, how come you can't even express yourself properly?"
Wen Huai'an: "I was just worried and confused. Besides, who would have thought I would run into Chu He that day?"
Xie Ran patted his shoulder: "Take my advice, brother. It's best to keep this to yourself and not tell anyone, or you'll make our brother go from a stomach hemorrhage to a brain hemorrhage."
Shi Yang called Aunt Cui, belatedly realizing that with so many doctors in the hospital, even if Wen Huai'an was absent for a while, other doctors would fill in, so it wasn't as serious as he made it out to be.
That's simply alarmist.
Aunt Cui was worried that Ji Peiheng had been hungry for too long, so she rushed over at lightning speed.
"Sir, I made a stomach-soothing porridge. It's fresh out of the pot, so please drink it while it's hot."
Aunt Cui scooped a small bowl out of the thermos and placed it on the table.
The porridge contained preserved eggs, pumpkin, and red dates, and smelled wonderfully appetizing.
Ji Peiheng showed no intention of moving, and kept looking at Shi Yang, saying, "Hey me!"
Shi Yang couldn't stand it anymore and said, "The needle has already been removed. You can drink by yourself now. Don't tell me you can't even lift a bowl."
Ji Peiheng raised the back of his hand, which had been pricked with several needles: "What do you think?"
Shi Yang wanted to say that you injured the back of your hand, not the bone.
But seeing his once pleasing hand now turned bruised and swollen, with a band-aid on the most swollen spot, it was completely out of place with his overall demeanor, and inexplicably comical.
She reluctantly picked up the bowl and fed him spoonful by spoonful.
Aunt Cui watched from the side and felt an indescribable warmth between them, a sense of tranquility.
I couldn't help but sigh: "A few days ago, when my wife was sick, this is how I fed her medicine and water. Now the roles have reversed, and my wife is feeding me porridge."
When Shi Yang turned around to look at her, Aunt Cui's heart skipped a beat.
Shi Yang smiled faintly: "Aunt Cui, didn't you say he didn't come back the night I was sick?"
Aunt Cui couldn't lie, let alone be exposed to her face. Her face turned red, and she looked at Ji Peiheng with pleading eyes.
Ji Peiheng seemed unaware of what had happened. He wiped his lips and lay back down, saying, "I'm full. I want some water."
"I'll go fetch water."
Aunt Cui seized the opportunity and fled the ward.
He used this method to steer the conversation away from the topic, leaving Shi Yang with no way to continue.
Actually, she tried several times today to steer the conversation in the direction of the topic and to clarify the misunderstanding from that day.
But Ji Peiheng never responded. She tried several times, but he subtly deflected her responses each time.
There was no chance to speak at all.
Shi Yang sighed inwardly.
Forget it, let's wait until I'm discharged from the hospital to talk about it.
