Chapter 36 She seems to know nothing about Ji Peiheng
After lunch, Qin Lan wanted to take a nap, so Ji Peiheng went to answer a work-related phone call.
Ji Cheng'an stood up from his seat and said to Ji Jinyu with a serious expression, "Jinyu, come to the study."
Ji Jinyu comforted Shi Yue for a while, and Shi Yue buried her head in his chest: "I can manage on my own, you go."
Ji Jinyu glanced at Shi Yang unintentionally and found that she had not left her seat yet.
He reached out and wrapped his arms around Shi Yue, looking extremely affectionate.
When they looked up again, Shi Yang was touching up her makeup in front of the mirror, her gaze not even glancing in their direction.
It seems like they really don't care at all.
When Shi Yue first came back, she would notice him if he even glanced at her.
He didn't believe she could remain completely unmoved so quickly.
Therefore, he said, "I'm afraid Xiaoyue will be bored if she stays alone. Why don't you keep her company?"
Shi Yang didn't even glance at him, let alone lift his head.
Ji Jinyu's temper flared up, and he raised his voice: "Shi Yang, Xiao Yue is your sister after all. It's only right that you accompany her for a walk."
Shi Yang then looked at him: "You were just talking to me."
"..."
Ji Jinyu maintained his smile, looking worried about Shi Yue: "I'm going to the study in a bit. You can take Xiao Yue around for a walk."
Shi Yang remained expressionless: "I'm afraid that won't work. I'm tired too. You should hire a nanny for this kind of thing."
Ji Jinyu was determined to find out something today: "Xiaoyue will be joining the family in the future, and we'll be one family. You can show Xiaoyue around, which will also help strengthen our relationship."
To his disappointment, there was no turmoil whatsoever; even her breathing seemed so calm.
She yawned lazily: "I'm really sleepy."
Shi Yue tugged at Ji Jinyu: "Ah Yu, you go ahead, I can manage on my own."
Ji Jinyu clenched her fist, took a deep look at the listless woman in her seat, and then left.
Ji Jingyu left.
Shi Yue smiled at Shi Yang, about to speak, but Shi Yang had already turned and gone to the backyard.
Shi Yue's expression stiffened. She glanced around. She couldn't possibly stay with the maids who were tidying up, could she? Suppressing her displeasure, she followed Shi Yang.
On the way, she overheard several maids chatting while cleaning the backyard.
"Did you just see the second wife? She's so beautiful, I couldn't take my eyes off her."
"Who says otherwise? Madam even gave the second madam that she had treasured for a long time. It almost blinded me."
Another maid who was sweeping the floor chimed in, "It's not just that Madam dotes on Second Madam, you didn't even see Second Young Master? He even helped Second Madam take off her shoes when she came in..."
Shi Yue couldn't listen anymore...
Did Shi Yang just get incredibly lucky?
The afternoon sun was dazzling and blinding, and Shi Yang felt even more sleepy after taking a walk.
He turned around and went back to the sofa in the living room for a short rest.
After Ji Peiheng finished dealing with the work call, he turned around and saw her back.
"Shi Yang".
I called out to him, but there was no response.
Upon closer inspection, I saw that her eyes were slightly closed, and her long, curly eyelashes cast a small shadow on her face. She was sleeping very peacefully.
Shi Yang was startled awake. She stared blankly as Ji Peiheng picked her up and asked, "What are you doing?"
"Why don't you go back to your room to sleep?"
Shi Yang snuggled against his chest, still half asleep, and asked, "I don't know where I should sleep?"
They moved into their new home as soon as they got married. Shi Yang didn't know which room in the old house would be suitable for her, so she just made do with the sofa for a while.
Her voice was soft and tender as she woke up.
Ji Peiheng's heart softened upon hearing this.
He carried Shi Yang back to his original bedroom.
He became independent very early, spent many years abroad, and then had his own apartment after returning. He hasn't lived here in a long time.
But the bedroom has been kept, and a maid cleans and tidies it every day.
Shi Yang was held on the bed, and his consciousness gradually returned.
This was the first time she had entered Ji Peiheng's former room.
Ji Peiheng's room was right next to Ji Jinyu's room. She had been to the Ji family many times before, but had never gone inside.
They might even deliberately avoid it.
Whenever she came to see Ji Jinyu, Ji Peiheng would stare at her intently with his dark, deep eyes.
He already had a strong aura, and his eyes were dark and deep. Every time they met, Shi Yang would look away, feeling that she would break out in a cold sweat if she looked at him for even a second longer.
She didn't know why he was looking at her like that.
It was as if she owed him money. Over time, Shi Yang began to wonder if she had unknowingly offended him.
She racked her brains for a long time but couldn't remember offending him, so she stopped thinking about it and tried to avoid seeing Ji Jinyu when he wasn't around.
In a daze, Shi Yang realized that she knew nothing about Ji Peiheng's past. All she knew was from what she heard from other people. She had no idea about the Ji Peiheng of the past, and they had never even spoken.
His past attitude towards her and his current attitude towards her created a dramatic sense of disconnect for her. Two completely different people had come together for some mysterious reason.
Life is so dramatic; she actually married someone she never expected.
"Ji Peiheng, what were you like before?"
Ji Peiheng lay down beside her: "Not sleeping again?"
Shi Yang muttered, "I just feel like I don't understand you at all."
Ji Peiheng's beautiful eyes sparkled as he pulled her into his arms: "If you want to understand me, go to sleep first."
Shi Yang emerged and protested, "We're married, yet I know nothing about you."
"Whose fault is it?" Ji Peiheng asked with a half-smile. "We've known each other for quite some time now, haven't we?"
Shi Yang shut up and guiltily looked away.
She didn't dare to speak again, feeling that Ji Peiheng was warning her once more.
Her position was really awkward. Ever since Ji Jinyu came back, she didn't dare to look anywhere she shouldn't, for fear of being caught out.
My mind is a mess, and all sleepiness has vanished.
"Ji Peiheng, are you asleep?"
"Um."
"Ji Peiheng, I can't sleep."
The next second, everything in front of me was enveloped in darkness.
Feeling the dry warmth on her eyes, she was slightly taken aback and blinked.
Ji Peiheng felt the ticklish sensation of his long eyelashes brushing against his palm: "I'll sleep with you, go to sleep."
Shi Yang closed his eyes and fell asleep in no time.
After finishing her afternoon nap, Qin Lan came out of her room and looked around, not seeing her beloved daughter-in-law: "Where's Yangyang?"
The maid said, "The second young master and the second mistress are taking a nap in their room."
Why are you taking a nap at this hour?
Looking at the tightly closed door, a hint of interest flashed in Qin Lan's eyes, and she peered into the doorway to listen for any sounds.
I was disappointed after listening for a while; they really were sleeping.
At this rate, when will she be able to hold her grandson?
A glint of cunning flashed in his eyes, and he whispered in the maid's ear, "Add some to his soup at dinner..."
