There was another "humph," but the tone was clearly different.
As long as the flattery is done well, who wouldn't like to hear it! Gan Tang continued, "I showed Uncle Chu one-tenth of what you taught me, and he praised me as a business genius."
Lu Zhengqian finally smiled.
Gan Tang leaned on his shoulder and said in a muffled voice, "Dad, the happiest thing in my life is finding you."
"Sigh!" Lu Zhengqian reached out and stroked his daughter's hair, not knowing what to do with her.
The fishing rod suddenly sank.
"The fish has taken the bait!" Gan Tang excitedly pulled the fish up with Lu Zhengqian.
Seeing that the fish basket was getting fuller and fuller, Gan Tang felt it was about time. She lightly tapped Lu Zhengqian's arm muscles and asked with a smile, "Dad, can I ask you for a favor?"
"What's up?"
"Could you help me find my adoptive parents?"
Seeing Lu Zhengqian's expression change drastically but still within a manageable range, Gan Tang grasped his hand, her eyes slightly lowered, "Dad, after all, they raised me for over twenty years, and I don't want anything to happen to them. Besides, Jiahe and I are about to get engaged, and I'm worried about accidents."
At this point, she looked into Lu Zhengqian's eyes, her vision blurry with tears: "Who else can I ask for help besides my father?"
"Okay!" Lu Zhengqian finally agreed.
The day went very smoothly, so smoothly that Gan Tang had the illusion that he could succeed at anything he did.
The day before the engagement banquet, Mo Huaixing told her that her parents had been sent to Fu Cheng's villa and were all well. They were just waiting for her to get engaged successfully before being sent abroad.
Mo Huaixing would personally persuade them to leave and ask Gan Tang if she had any words to convey to them.
Gan Tang shook his head and said nothing.
The day of the engagement was bright and sunny. Because they planned to marry as soon as possible, the engagement banquet was attended only by both sets of parents. Mrs. Chu, having shared hardships with Gan Tang, was very fond of her.
During the meal, they set their wedding date. Lu Zhengqian gifted them a 3,000-square-meter manor villa as their marital home.
Mrs. Chu was somewhat disappointed: "You don't live at home?"
“Young people who have just gotten married, who doesn’t want to enjoy time together as a couple?” Chu Mingxuan comforted his wife with a smile. “Once your daughter-in-law gets pregnant, she will naturally come back to live with you, her mother-in-law.”
Once things got out of control, Mrs. Chu started talking about the child, making Gan Tang blush until the engagement banquet ended.
As Chu Mingxuan and his wife left by car, and Lu Zhengqian was about to leave by car as well, Chu Jiahe kept giving Gan Tang meaningful glances. Gan Tang, embarrassed, punched him lightly and walked to Lu Zhengqian's car.
"Dad, where are the keys?"
"What key?"
"Dad!" Gan Tang stamped her foot in embarrassment, "You said you'd give us... um... a house!"
Lu Zhengqian suddenly realized that he hadn't really thought of it and wasn't trying to tease his daughter. "No need for a key, there are maids over there. I'll send you the address right now."
"Father-in-law, please hurry up!" Chu Jiahe appeared beside Gan Tang, a model young man indeed.
Why didn't you come over just now?
Gan Tang angrily punched him, but Chu Jiahe smiled and pulled Gan Tang into the car, heading towards their future little home.
"Does it have to be this rushed?" Gan Tang complained in the car.
"Why wouldn't we be in a hurry? We're getting married next month." Chu Jiahe said seriously, "My father-in-law gave us such a big villa, I can't let him buy everything for us!"
The villa area wasn't far. To make it convenient for the two of them to get to work, the villa area was chosen in the scenic Dolphin Bay, between the Chu Group and the Lu Group.
The villa was decorated in a simple yet luxurious style, but it was empty inside with very little furniture.
Chu Jiahe held Gan Tang's hand, turned around once, and then stopped in their newlywed bedroom.
"Xintang, how would you like to decorate our home?"
"I'll listen to you, I don't understand anyway! But I have one request." Gan Tang emphasized seriously, "Don't turn this into a research lab."
Chu Jiahe laughed: "Am I really that unreliable?"
"That's not necessarily true. It's not like I haven't seen your apartment in the company." The suite has two rooms, one inside and one outside, and half of the space is filled with experimental equipment, even the bed is there.
“Alright, I’ll make the plan. Please review it personally, Madam.” Chu Jiahe took out a bank card from his inner pocket and handed it to Gan Tang. “When purchasing things, it’s not good to ask your father-in-law to spend any more money. Use the money in here. This is my salary card.”
Holding the card, Gan Tang sighed, "When Dad gave us the villa just now, I thought you wouldn't accept it!"
Chu Jiahe asked very seriously, "Don't you girls feel more confident when you argue because you live in houses given to you by your parents?"
"You still dare to argue with me?" Gan Tang glared at him.
"No, no!" Chu Jiahe's smile faded, and she looked ashamed. "Xintang, I probably won't be able to go with you to get things ready. The research at the Princeton University lab has reached a critical stage, and I have to follow up in person. This trip will take at least half a month."
"Really?" Gan Tang was overjoyed. She had been worrying about how to trick him into going abroad.
Chu Jiahe asked in surprise, "Why are you so happy?"
"Of course I'm happy." Gan Tang put her hands around his neck and said with a smile, "Because I'm going with you. I need to let your teachers, colleagues and students know that I'm your wife. Also, I need to see if you have any female confidantes over there."
Seeing that Chu Jiahe didn't speak but just smiled, Gan Tang added, "Don't worry, at worst I'll just stay in the hotel and it won't affect your work."
Upon hearing the word "hotel," Chu Jiahe's gaze involuntarily drifted to Gan Tang's chest. Her fair skin cascaded down her delicate collarbone, disappearing beneath her pink, high-waisted dress. With each breath, it stirred the man's senses.
Does your father-in-law agree to let you go?
“If you want, I can get Dad to agree.” Gan Tang raised the corners of her mouth.
Her lips, as smooth and lustrous as jade, were so alluring they could tempt one to commit a crime.
Chu Jiahe turned around, pinned Gan Tang against the wall, and announced in an unquestionable manner: "Then let's go get our marriage certificate tomorrow!"
Originally, Mrs. Chu had told them to pick an auspicious day to get their marriage certificate before the wedding.
Before he could utter the word "okay," Chu Jiahe bent down and kissed the lips he had longed for day and night. For countless days and nights, he had wondered when he could rightfully possess the woman before him. But now, he didn't want to wait a moment longer.
"Xintang, can I start working without a license first?"
None of the many rooms had beds, but this master bedroom happened to have one, with a soft mattress, though no sheets. Gan Tang panicked a little, but felt she shouldn't refuse him.
"Should we do it here?" she asked.
"good!"
What does "okay" mean? I clearly asked a question, how did it become a statement? Gan Tang wanted to argue, but Chu Jiahe had already picked her up and put her on the bed.
A fluffy pink skirt spread across the mattress, and Gan Tang lay in the center, like a blooming crabapple blossom. Chu Jiahe took off his suit jacket and bent down to kiss the heart of the crabapple blossom.
