Chapter 26 "Sorry for what?"
Anmi took a step back and said coldly, "Sorry, I don't know you."
The man leered, "We can get to know each other by chatting, right? You're such a pretty girl, we'd like to take you out for some fun."
He leaned closer, and the smell of smoke and body odor emanating from him made Anmi feel nauseous.
"Hey pretty girl, what time do you get off work? How about grabbing a couple of drinks with us guys after work?"
"Get out of the way!" Anmi shouted, dodging his hand.
Unexpectedly, the other party was not only unafraid, but became even more excited.
"Hey~ That's awesome!"
"..."
Anmi's legs trembled.
It's terrifying to experience harassment firsthand, something you only ever see online.
She forced back her panic: "If you keep doing this, I'll call the police."
The man with the gold chain, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, said with a roguish grin, "Go ahead and report it! We didn't do anything to you, we just wanted to be friends!"
That shameless expression was more disgusting than shit in a latrine.
Anmi didn't want to get entangled with them, just then a white SUV slowly drove up to the side of the road.
Anmi became bolder when she saw a car passing by.
She pushed the arm of the person on her left away and tried to run into the convenience store and lock the door.
But as soon as he took a step out, his waist was grabbed by two thick pig hooves.
"Hey pretty girl, why are you running?"
The greasy words sent shivers down Anmi's spine.
She instinctively raised her hands to struggle, kicking and scratching behind her with both hands and feet.
The man, his eyes gripped by her, cried out in pain.
Seeing this, the man with the gold chain's accomplice tried to grab her hand.
Before his hand could even touch Anmi, he was kicked several meters away by a flying kick.
"Ah!" A scream came from behind.
The feeling of constriction around my waist suddenly disappeared.
Overwhelmed by fear, Anmi's legs trembled so badly that she collapsed to the ground.
Two steps away, the man with the gold chain, who had just been so arrogant, collapsed to the ground, his face being stomped hard by a pair of shiny black leather shoes.
The streetlights shone down from above, illuminating the dark eyes of the shoe's owner.
"Damn it, you dare to ambush me?" the man with the gold chain was still barking.
Yan Jinnian's cold gaze swept over him.
Then he bent down and, with a snap, broke his arm.
A young man got out of the driver's seat of the white SUV.
Yan Jinnian loosened his foot, and the man walked over and tied the gold chain behind his back with his hands.
“Take care of it,” Yan Jinnian said to him.
"good."
The man glanced at An Mi: "What about her?"
Yan Jinnian remained silent.
He walked over with a stern face, wrapped his arms around Anmi's waist and legs, and steadily lifted her up from the ground.
When Anmi caught a whiff of the familiar, cool perfume scent, her eyes stung for a moment.
Her hands and feet were still trembling.
Yan Jinnian carried her to the back seat of the SUV.
What are you doing here?
The man's deep voice came from above.
Anmi's lips moved, but before she could utter a sound, a tear rolled down her cheek.
She clenched her fingers and whispered, "Help the neighbor."
She sobbed as she told the man about the cold.
After he finished speaking, a hush fell over the sky.
After a long silence, the man said something.
"sorry."
Anmi paused in her sobbing.
"Apologize for what?"
The convenience store's business has nothing to do with you.
Yan Jinnian did not answer.
Anmi felt her calf being enveloped by a warm, large hand.
Strong knuckles gently massaged the soft flesh on the back of the calf.
She was comforted by this warm power, and tears streamed down her face in a burst of emotion.
The carriage was quiet, with only Anmi's low sobs.
She cried for a while, wiped away her tears, and secretly glanced at Yan Jinnian.
The man remained silent, as if he were asleep.
His cold, sharp features were hidden in the shadows, making him look somewhat fierce.
One thought after another popped into Anmi's mind.
Why is he here so late?
Are you here to see her?
But she already said goodbye last time and even blocked him on WeChat... He should not want to talk to her anymore since she was so heartless.
Anmi propped herself up and sat up from the man's arms.
"Thank you for helping me earlier."
Yan Jinnian looked a little tired.
"Anmi, do you have to talk to me like that?" His voice was soft, with a slight hoarseness.
Anmi didn't know how to answer.
She didn't understand it either. Even though they were in such an intimate position, she felt that the distance between them was always very far.
She lowered her head, and the carriage fell silent once again.
After a while, someone knocked on the car window.
Anmi quickly got off his lap.
Yan Jinnian rolled down the car window, revealing the young man from before.
"Mr. Yan, those three people have been handed over to the police."
He looked at Anmi: "Miss, it seems like you have customers in your shop."
Anmi then realized that no one was in the store and hurriedly tried to get out of the car.
Yan Jinnian grabbed her.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
Anmi was stunned for a moment, then realized that he was concerned about her.
She nodded: "I'm fine now."
She smiled again, a slight twitch at the corner of her mouth.
The large hand that was gripping his arm loosened its grip.
Yan Jinnian didn't say anything more.
Anmi returned to the store just as the boy who was taking over the shift arrived.
He was clearly unaware of what was happening here. As he watched Anmi get out of the car, he asked curiously, "Your friend?"
Anmi shook her head, then nodded, then shook her head again.
Her mind was in a mess; she didn't know how to define her relationship with Yan Jinnian.
The warmth lingered on my calves, like the lingering warmth of the blankets I cherished most as a child.
Anmi silently recited in her heart:
Stay awake! Stay awake!
You are destined to be from two different worlds!
Stop getting addicted to it!
The world is not a tomato novel at all!
There are no princes who fall in love with Cinderella here!
Stop dreaming...
Suddenly, someone rushed in from outside.
The young man stopped in front of the shelf as if looking for something.
Anmi looked at him curiously: "Are you going to buy something?"
The man glanced at the SUV parked outside: "Is there anything to eat? My boss has low blood sugar."
boss?
That's Yan Jinnian.
Anmi's body reacted before her brain did.
She ran to the shelf and grabbed a bar of chocolate.
"Eat this, chocolate is the fastest way to treat low blood sugar." She was completely unaware of the anxiety in her tone.
The man frowned and glanced at what she was holding with disdain.
“Our boss hates sweets the most. He never touches chocolate, candy, ice cream, or anything like that.”
Anmi was stunned.
Does Yan Jinnian not eat sweets?
She suddenly remembered the ice cream from last time; it turned out he hadn't thought it was delicious then…
My chest felt tight.
The man was still looking around: "Miss, is there anything that isn't sweet?"
Anmi put the chocolate back on the shelf.
Yan Jinnian doesn't like strong flavors, but he likes Japanese food.
Oden should be edible, at least it's a bit bland.
She went to the cashier, took some skewers from the oden, put them in a paper bowl, added some broth, and handed it to the man.
“Give this to him,” she said.
The man was about to reach out and take it when he suddenly paused.
Anmi watched as he covered his head like a nonsensical comedian: "Ah, I can't take it anymore, I have low blood sugar too!"
He rushed to the cashier and said to the clerk, "Quick, give me a serving of oden too."
Turning around, he saw Anmi still standing there, and urged, "Miss, hurry up and take it over, or my boss will faint!"
