Chapter 24 If someone bullies you

In his previous life, Lin Qingyan never told anyone about his family. When he was young, it was because he was insecure and worried that others would look down on him and look at him differently if they found out.

Later, I got used to bearing it all alone. What's the use of telling others? No one can help you except yourself; it will only add to their troubles.

But in front of Gu Fei, he didn't think so much. He wasn't trying to gain sympathy or seek help; he simply wanted to share with someone.

“My dad is a gambler and the family is in a lot of debt, so my family won’t let me go to school anymore. I have to earn money to support the family.”

There was no regret or resentment. His tone was as calm as if he were telling someone else's story. In just a few words, he didn't mention how much he had suffered. All the bitter and painful memories were glossed over.

Lin Qingyan still remembers that when his father, Lin Jianxiang, asked him to drop out of school, he refused no matter what.

I've worked so hard for so many years just so I can take the college entrance exam in a few months, get good grades, and get into a good university. Now there are only a few months left, how could I possibly give up?

He knew his family couldn't afford to send him to university. While other students were playing carefree, he had been working part-time during winter and summer vacations and weekends since his first year of high school, and finally secretly saved up his tuition for his first year of university.

But Lin Jianxiang was never a reasonable person. He went to the school himself and, in front of the whole class, slapped Lin Qingyan hard across the face.

He cursed with foul language as he dragged his son toward the door, while his classmates looked at Lin Qingyan with shock, pity, and schadenfreude.

Lin Qingyan will never forget that scene from back then.

Later, he still compromised. Even the tuition fees he had secretly saved up and hidden at home were found by Lin Jianxiang. After taking the money, he happily went out to drink and gamble.

Of course, he didn't tell Gu Fei any of this.

After thinking for a moment, he repeated what he had said earlier, "Mr. Gu, you are such a good person."

The boy's tone was sincere and earnest, and his eyes were smiling. His thin shoulders seemed to bear a heavy burden. Gu Fei looked at him and suddenly wanted to pat his head or give him a hug.

But he was still holding an ice pack, and his hands were icy cold.

The man didn't continue the previous topic. He kept his eyes lowered as he carefully applied ice to the boy's arm, and said calmly, "Have you forgotten what I told you?"

It was a seemingly random sentence, but Lin Qingyan understood it immediately. He hesitated for a moment, then uttered two words: "Brother Fei."

The boy's tone was clear and pleasant, and also carried a hint of obedience.

Gu Fei gave a nonchalant "hmm," but a hint of warmth appeared in his indifferent eyes.

A few minutes later, the ice pack was finished.

Before she could finish saying "Thank you, Mr...", Lin Qingyan stopped and awkwardly changed her words to "Thank you, Brother Fei".

Gu Fei said, "You've thanked me a lot today."

Lin Qingyan smiled and said, "It's nothing."

"Lin Qingyan." Gu Fei suddenly looked into the boy's eyes, those deep eyes like an ancient well, calm and undisturbed, yet he spoke earnestly: "If anyone bullies you, you can tell me."

Lin Qingyan paused for several seconds, then nodded.

This time he didn't say thank you.

Gu Fei seemed quite satisfied with his reaction; his tense lips relaxed slightly. He stood up and said, "It's getting late, let's rest first."

"Mm." The boy nodded, then looked up at the tall, imposing man in front of him, his clear, watery eyes reflecting the man's figure. He added, "Goodnight."

"good evening."

Watching the man's figure disappear, Lin Qingyan finally looked away. The half-full glass of milk on the table had gone cold, but he didn't mind and picked it up to drink it all down.

After finishing his milk, he went into the bathroom to wash up briefly, then went to bed. The bed was large, the mattress was soft, and it was very comfortable to sleep on.

The boy rested his head on his arm, staring blankly at the ceiling, the man's words still echoing in his mind, his deep, magnetic voice seemingly possessing a magical power.

If anyone bullies you, you can tell me...

No one had ever said such a thing to him before.

No, Wen Yan had said something similar to him in his past life, and he believed it. But every time he was framed by An Nanyi, Wen Yan never believed him.

An Nanyi must have used some kind of bewitching spell on Wen Yan, because the man was completely charmed by her.

Forget it, I'd better not think about them anymore. I shouldn't let pointless people occupy my mind. It's not worth it. I will never repeat the same mistakes in this life, and I will never live such a pathetic life as I did in my previous life.

——

Are you sure Dad, Mom, and my older brother aren't home?

An Yu crouched down and stood furtively at her doorstep, cautiously peering into the house.

Standing inside was a handsome young man. Compared to the tall An Yu, the young man was rather petite, wearing pajamas and with messy hair.

"Don't worry, Dad's away on a business trip and won't be back until tomorrow. Mom's gone to Grandpa and Grandma's. Big brother's off to work. Second brother, don't just stand outside, come in." An Nanyi covered her mouth and yawned, feeling a little impatient.

An Nanyi had never liked his second brother, who was uneducated, unambitious, and idle all day. He yawned again and said, "I'm so sleepy, I'm going to sleep now."

An Yu breathed a sigh of relief before daring to step into his home. He had originally planned to stay at Gu Fei's place.

Unfortunately, Mr. Gu picked up a little white rabbit by the roadside. The old virgin showed signs of falling in love for the first time, so he heartlessly abandoned the rabbit and stingily sent it away with a 200 yuan red envelope.

He suspected that Gu Fei had taken the little white rabbit home.

"Hey Nan Nan, don't walk so fast."

An Yu quickly chased after An Nanyi. He couldn't keep anything to himself and desperately needed to share what had just happened with someone. "Do you know what your second brother just went through? I guarantee you'll be speechless when I tell you!"

An Nanyi wasn't interested; it was probably just some boring stuff. An Yu was a chatterbox; he could talk for half an hour about the smallest thing.

"Second brother, let's talk about it tomorrow. It's so late, go to sleep." He said casually.

An Yu couldn't hold back until tomorrow. "I was riding back from the airport in Gu Fei's car just now, and guess what? Gu Fei actually picked up a homeless little white rabbit on the street!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Annan stopped in his tracks.

The name Gu Fei always caught his attention.

"I already told you, it will definitely surprise you!" Seeing An Nanyi's reaction, An Yu smiled smugly. He kept her in suspense: "The most amazing part is yet to come. Do you want to hear it?"
