Chapter 8. Yu Chaoxian patted the seat next to the sofa, "Yes..."

As soon as he entered, he smelled a sweet candy scent. Yu Chaoxian didn't dislike the smell, even though it was a fragrance unique to Yu Tang, whom he disliked.

Only an orange-yellow lamp was on in the room, and the blankets on the bed were curled up in a ball.

Still sleeping?

Yu Chaoxian took a long stride, just about to walk to the bedside to wake the person, when he caught a glimpse of the bathroom light out of the corner of his eye.

The outer door to the bathroom was open, but the inner glass door was closed. The environment where Yu Chaoxian was located was dim, with all the light concentrated in Yu Tang's shower room.

A hazy silhouette was cast amidst the rising steam, yet the outline remained remarkably clear. A slender neck, flowing shoulders... a delicate waist that disappeared into the billowing mist.

Yu Chaoxian had no idea that this spineless aunt actually had curves.

The moment the bathroom door opened, steam carrying the fresh scent of shower gel filled the room. Yu Tang, of course, didn't know there was anyone in the room, so she casually wrapped a towel around her neck and prepared to come out.

As soon as a round head peeked out, something heavy landed on her head—a large, unfamiliar hand pressed down on her scalp and pushed her back down without a word.

"Let's go downstairs and have dinner."

"What?" Yu Tang exclaimed in shock.

The man spoke impatiently, pinching her soft, warm ear: "Come downstairs, let's eat. If you can't hear, I'll just cut your ear off, okay?"

With that pinch, Yu Chaoxian became even more certain that this little aunt's ears were soft.

Yu Tang's ears immediately turned bright red. After all, she was a girl, so why did Yu Chaoxian come and go from her room so casually, especially since she was taking a shower!

"What are you looking at!" Yu Tang exclaimed in a panic, wrapping herself tightly in a bath towel. Her angry and embarrassed voice came through the crack in the door.

"I wouldn't mistreat my own eyes like that." Yu Chaoxian rolled his eyes, too lazy to even look at her. When he went downstairs, he realized that there were a few damp drops on his collar, which must have been from his aunt earlier.

A faint fragrance lingered on his clothes.

Changing clothes again would be too much trouble, so I'll just bear with it for now.

Yu Tang looked at herself in the mirror in the bathroom, furious. What did Yu Chaoxian mean by that disdainful tone? How could her figure be so unattractive to him? Yu Tang looked down at herself, feeling a little depressed.

No one paid much attention to the little misunderstanding about taking a shower. After taking a shower, Yu Tang changed into her pajamas and ran downstairs, where she found Yu Yanting in the kitchen.

Yu Yanting rarely cooks himself, but when Yu Chaoxian returned, Yu Yanting naturally prepared the meal himself.

Yu Tang looked around and saw her favorite dishes: sweet and sour pork with pineapple, braised pork ribs, and vegetables she didn't like but had to eat, as well as sweet and soothing snow pear and white fungus soup, and fresh steamed seafood.

Hearing the noise behind him, Yu Yanting turned around and picked up a piece of sweet and sour pork for Yu Tang to eat first, "Hungry?" "Eat some first, save room for later."

"Thank you, brother." After finishing the sweet and sour pork, Yu Tang also received a piece of freshly cooked pork ribs, corn, and a boiled shrimp.

Yu Tang obediently finished eating, and then thoughtfully handed Yu Yanting dishes and plates.

This reminded Yu Tang of previous holidays. During every holiday, Yu Yanting would personally cook, saying that for a family to have a proper meal, it was essential to cook dishes that the family loved. However, Yu Chaoxian hadn't returned for several years, and Yu Tang had never understood why there were three sets of chopsticks and bowls on the table. Now, thinking about it, she understood. Her brother had always been thinking of Yu Chaoxian and was waiting for him to come back for the New Year's Eve dinner.

But Yu Chaoxian never returned during those five years.

This is probably the unbreakable bond of blood ties. No matter how much Yu Chaoxian angers his brother, his brother will always forgive him in the end.

Yu Tang thought that for her brother's sake, she should also try to get along well with Yu Chaoxian.

"Brother made so many dishes." Yu Tang saw that Yu Yanting had carefully plated each dish, making them very exquisite.

Yu Chaoxian tasted the soup and said, "It's rare for the family to get together for a meal, so we're happy."

Family... Without a doubt, Yu Yanting is Yu Tang's family. Yu Tang then thought of Yu Chaoxian, who wanted to smash her into mincemeat... to be determined.

“Tangtang, anyone with a blood relation can be considered family, but family is different.” Yu Yanting suddenly spoke up, leaning over to look at Yu Tang. “In the Yu family, only Tangtang, Xiaoxian and I can be called family and even more so, a family. Minor squabbles are harmless. As long as the family stays united, outsiders won’t be able to take advantage of us, and they won’t be able to hurt us.”

Yu Tang nodded emphatically: "I understand, brother. Xiao Xian is also my family. Besides you, Xiao Xian is the second most important family member I care about."

"Tangtang is such a good girl," Yu Yanting rubbed Yu Tang's head. "Go outside and watch TV. The food will be ready soon."

Seeing the sweat on Yu Yanting's forehead, Yu Tang decided to cut some refreshing fruit for her brother.

To get to the refrigerator, you have to pass through the living room. Yu Tang glanced into the living room; Yu Chaoxian was comfortably leaning back on the sofa watching TV, his eyes glued to the screen.

However, these are all children's channel programs at this time. Does someone this old still need to watch cartoons? Yu Tang didn't expect Yu Chaoxian to be so childlike. Maybe he just looks old, but he's actually more childish than her. At least she wouldn't watch a cartoon with a cat and a mouse.

Good, she was careful not to make a sound, so her nephew shouldn't notice. Yu Tang tried her best to minimize her presence to avoid getting into trouble and annoying him, only to be dragged out the window and smashed into a pulp.

Yu Tang tiptoed through the living room to get some fruit from the refrigerator. Her brother must be hot and thirsty from cooking, and these fruits were sweet and juicy, so she wanted to bring them to him.

The girl tiptoed through the living room twice.

The first time, she walked very briskly without any fruit in her hands; the second time, she carried cut fruit and slowed down to maintain her balance.

Unfortunately for Yu Chaoxian, Yu Tang was too much of a target, like a moving target, ready to be shot the moment she showed her face. He didn't even need to aim; he could just raise his hand and blow his little aunt's head off.

The first time she passed by furtively, Yu Chaoxian pretended not to see her.

The second time...

"Auntie, come here."

A sinister voice came from behind Yu Tang.

The word "little aunt" made Yu Tang's heart skip a beat. Yu Chaoxian's way of calling someone "little aunt" was different from how others addressed their aunts.

Although no one else called Yu Tang "aunt," Yu Tang had heard others call her "aunt," and at least when others called her "aunt," it was with a very respectful tone.

Yu Chaoxian called her that in a sarcastic tone, with a hint of... flippancy and disdain? It was as if calling her "little aunt" was a fun thing to do. Anyway, it sounded like he had ill intentions and no respect at all.

It didn't sound like he was calling her; it sounded like he was warning her. The words "little aunt" were like an alarm, warning her that she had crossed his line and he could deal with her at any time, so she had better behave and obey.

Yu Tang is no longer the seven-year-old Yu Tang she once was. As people grow up, their courage should also grow.

She swallowed, trying to muster some courage, but after just one glance at Yu Chaoxian, her fair face turned even paler, her eyelashes trembled nervously, and her clear black and white eyes reflected Yu Chaoxian's gaze.

The living room chandelier was very bright, clearly illuminating Yu Chaoxian.

His facial features and contours were outlined by light and shadow, making him exceptionally handsome and three-dimensional. Yu Tang knew clearly that her nephew indeed had an impeccable appearance.

And now, Yu Chaoxian is smiling at her.

But Yu Chaoxian would laugh even when he was bullying people. He laughed as he threatened to smash her into a pulp, and he laughed before he stabbed someone in the eye, cut off their fingers, and severed their tongue. So Yu Tang couldn't tell whether his emotions were good or bad from his smile.

“Little Aunt,” Yu Chaoxian patted the spot next to the sofa and smiled at her, “I’ll give you two choices: do you want to be thrown into the trash can outside or come watch TV with me.”
