Chapter 24 Recuperation

On the way, Shi Jing also learned that the other party lived next door. She was not surprised by this, after all, she had encountered them before.

Upon arrival, the two parted ways at the entrance of the residential compound and went their separate ways home.

When Shi Jing returned home, Ms. Yan was naturally not home yet. The cleaning lady had prepared dinner and placed it on the table, which Shi Jing ate alone as usual.

The meal was extremely difficult to eat; even the slightest chewing would aggravate the wound on the corner of her mouth. She dared not eat anything hard, and only ate a little bit of the softer food.

After finishing his meal, Shi Jing took a shower and applied medicine to the wound on the corner of his mouth.

Ms. Yan did not return until after 8 o'clock.

When the door opened, Shi Jing was watching TV while waiting for someone. The guests and audience on the variety show were all laughing happily, and as she watched, her mood improved again.

Ms. Yan's return did not affect her mood; on the contrary, she greeted her with a smile.

"Mom, you're back."

"Hmm." Ms. Yan closed the door, changed her shoes, put down her keys and bag, and walked over. As she walked, a pleasant fragrance wafted over.

"Mom had something to do and came back a little late," Ms. Yan explained, then looked at Shi Jing's face. "How serious is the injury? What did the doctor say?"

"It's just some superficial wounds, and I've already prescribed some medicine. I just need to rest for a couple of days."

"What happened to the person who assaulted me? What did the police say?" Ms. Yan asked again. Looking at the redness and swelling on her fair face, Ms. Yan was starting to lose her temper.

"The person who assaulted me has been detained. Dad asked Uncle Wang to come and help; Uncle Wang will handle it."

Ms. Yan was displeased upon hearing this: "Where's your father? He sent that guy surnamed Wang, but he didn't go himself?"

"Dad has something to do and can't come."

"That bastard, it must be that vixen pestering him. He sent a secretary over such an important matter."

Shi Jing listened, unsure how to respond.

She didn't want to dwell on this matter, and seeing that Ms. Yan had already returned, she didn't need to wait for her any longer.

"Mom, I'm quite tired today. I'd like to go and rest first," Shi Jing said.

"Okay, you should go and rest." Ms. Yan didn't say much. Seeing that Shi Jing was doing well, she didn't ask anything else and told her to go and rest.

Back in his room, Shi Jing closed the door and breathed a sigh of relief.

With no one else around, Shi Jing was completely relaxed in the room, at least.

She lay in bed, not wanting to do anything for a moment, but also not feeling sleepy. Her phone chimed, and Shi Jing slowly picked it up to look at it; it was a text message from Qi Shuang.

She chatted briefly with Qi Shuang and Qi Yan via text message that evening. They were both very tired today. Qi Shuang sent a message to say goodnight, and she replied with a goodnight message in return.

While she was bored, she suddenly remembered the boy named Rong Yu. Shi Jing couldn't help but search for him out of curiosity, and to her surprise, she actually found some information.

Rong Yu is actually somewhat famous online, but not for his current fame; rather, it's the fame he accumulated during his youth.

Yong-woo isn't the kind of boy band heartthrob Shi Jing imagines; he was actually a child star. Searching his name online still yields old posts and photos of him as a teenager, all from quite a while ago.

She has appeared occasionally recently, mainly as part of child star lists, and quite a few of her works have come up in search results. Judging from the stills, she looks to be only twelve or thirteen years old, with a very youthful appearance but outstanding looks, which explains her considerable fame.

If his appearance hadn't remained largely unchanged, Shi Jing would hardly be able to reconcile him with the current Rong Yu.

As a signed artist, she was once quite popular, and her looks haven't declined; in fact, she's become even more beautiful. So why was Rong Yu sidelined?

Shi Jing had spent a long time following celebrities online. Although he didn't know much about entertainment companies, he had heard about some of their tricks.

Entertainment companies typically sign a large number of artists at once, but often only one or two become famous. Rongyu became famous at a young age, has no scandals, and is quite good-looking, so why would she be suppressed by her company?

In general, the most common reason for being suppressed in this situation is simply because the other party is not obedient enough.

Judging from Shi Jing's few interactions with him, the other party seems to be a very serious and pragmatic guy. This suppression is probably not simple.

She was thinking as she brushed her brush.

However, it was just a guess; she couldn't be foolish enough to ask the person involved directly.

After scrolling for a while, she got tired, her eyelids were drooping, so she simply turned off her phone and rested.

After resting for two days, Shi Jing's injury has finally subsided somewhat, and he can eat normally again.

During the period of injury, Shi Jing stayed at home and did not go out. Since Ms. Yan left early and returned late, the two could not spend much time together, but Shi Jing got used to it.

Secretary Wang contacted her twice, saying that the assailant wanted to settle the matter privately with money, but Shi Jing didn't need that money and naturally refused.

However, Secretary Wang also told her that since it was only a minor injury, it didn't constitute a criminal case. Ultimately, it would likely only result in detention and a fine. Even so, Shi Jing had no intention of settling.

Although she acted impulsively, she didn't force the other party to hit her, did she? If someone hit you, why would you want to settle things privately? There's no such thing as a free lunch.

After resting for two more days, Shi Jing stopped staying at home every day and started working on the new tasks issued by the system.
