Sang Jiang patted her small chest only after she had stood firmly on her feet.
She looked at Kou'er gratefully and said, "Thank you."
Kou'er blushed slightly, feeling a little embarrassed by her "thank you".
Just as Kou'er came to her senses, she saw someone in the kitchen splashing water outside, and the water was steaming hot.
Luckily, she pulled Sang Jiang out quickly, otherwise the water would have splashed directly onto Sang Jiang.
"Oh, who's been so oblivious? It's the Fourth Miss! What are you doing at the back door of the kitchen? Are you trying to steal some food?"
The one speaking was Zhang Mama from the kitchen, who had just splashed water. Sang Jiang recognized her; she was promoted by the First Madam, so Sang Jiang must have seen her do this.
Hearing her disdainful tone, Sang Jiang felt a surge of anger rising within her. She didn't even dare to imagine what would have happened if Kou'er hadn't pulled her back in time.
She clenched her fist, her eyes flashing with a cold, sharp light.
Zhang's mother felt a little guilty under her gaze.
She deliberately poured that basin of hot water because she saw Sang Jiang walking over through the window.
All she needs to do is tell the First Madam that she didn't mean it, and then go to the Master and cry a little, and everything will be fine.
To her surprise, Sang Jiang, who was usually so timid and submissive around them, suddenly had such a sharp look in her eyes.
However, even if she felt a little guilty, she couldn't show it. Who knew if the fourth young lady was faking it? Even if it caused trouble for the master and madam, she wouldn't have done it on purpose. She might even be able to turn the tables on Sang Jiang.
Thinking of this, she suddenly felt more confident: "Fourth Miss, isn't it almost mealtime? If you're hungry, can't you wait a little while? You came to the kitchen yourself. If you get hurt, who will be responsible?"
Although she addressed everyone with polite formalities, her tone betrayed her disdain, contempt, and arrogance.
It was as if she were the mistress and Sang Jiang the servant.
Sang Jiang narrowed her eyes and ignored her. The corners of her crimson lips curled up slightly as she walked straight past her into the kitchen.
Seeing that she was being completely ignored, and glancing at the other mothers watching the commotion, Zhang's mother felt a little embarrassed.
She took two steps forward, trying to grab Sang Jiang and pull her out, but Sang Jiang dodged to the side.
Sang Jiang walked to a row of casserole dishes and slowly lifted the lid of one of them.
Thinking she wanted to eat the porridge simmering in the pot, Zhang's mother stared at her and called out, "Fourth Miss, that's for the First Madam."
After she finished speaking, she saw Sang Jiang slowly put the lid back on, but just as she put the lid on, she added some ingredients to the porridge.
She curled the corners of her lips into a smile; what she wanted was Liu Furong's.
Finally, under everyone's watchful eyes, Sang Jiang turned back. She walked to the water vat and carefully picked out the largest ladle, filling it to the brim.
Seeing this, Zhang's mother curled her lip, assuming that Sang Jiang wanted water because she couldn't get her porridge, and said sarcastically again, "Fourth Miss, if you want water, just have Kou'er get it for you in your room..."
She couldn't finish the last word "burn" before it got stuck in her throat.
She stared wide-eyed at Sang Jiang in disbelief.
Sang Jiang actually splashed the whole ladle of water directly onto her.
"Ah!!! You...you..."
Sang Jiang threw down the water ladle in her hand and stared innocently at Zhang Mama with her phoenix eyes: "Oh dear, I'm so sorry, Zhang Mama, I... my hand slipped..."
After saying that, she gave Zhang's mother a particularly smug shrug.
Looking into Sang Jiang's smiling phoenix eyes, and then at the mothers beside her who were watching with amusement, Zhang's mother felt like she was going crazy.
Without thinking, she lunged at Sang Jiang.
