Sangjiang: ? ? ?
Is this person an idiot? She blinked in confusion, her long eyelashes fluttering as she looked at Long Jingchen, who was momentarily distracted.
Sang Jiang gave him a disdainful look and sat down next to him: "Are you a prince or a guard? Guards shouldn't be dressed like this, right?"
Long Jingchen was taken aback, not expecting her to suddenly ask this.
Seeing that he didn't speak, Sang Jiang sighed and then said, "Never mind, it's not important. I'll go home sooner or later anyway."
She gazed at the distant starlight, her eyes seeming somewhat ethereal.
Long Jingchen looked at her and said softly, "Want to go back to the Prime Minister's residence?"
Sang Jiang shook her head: "No, that's not my home. My home is very far away."
Long Jingchen was slightly taken aback, puzzled by her words. Why would she say that the Prime Minister's residence wasn't her home when she was the fourth young lady of the Prime Minister's family?
Sang Jiang seemed to see through his thoughts. She smiled and said, "I am Sang Jiang, but not the Sang Jiang I used to be. Actually, you are all fictional characters in a book, and I am an outsider who doesn't know why I got involved with you... I really want to go home. I miss my mom and dad..."
She continued talking without caring whether Long Jingchen understood or not, and a single, crystal-clear tear slowly rolled down her cheek.
Long Jingchen looked at her somewhat flusteredly, and finally sighed and moved a little closer to Sang Jiang, letting her lean on his shoulder.
He listened to her incoherent speech and slowly pieced it together. The gist of it was that she wasn't from here and had inexplicably come here, and now she wanted to leave.
Leave? Long Jingchen frowned. For some reason, he didn't want this to happen. He wanted to keep her by his side. Ever since the last rumor that she was in love with the Eighth Prince, he had sent the Eighth Prince away.
He reached out somewhat irritably, but when he saw Sang Jiang asleep on his shoulder, he silently put his hand back down.
He sighed. Oh well, he only did it because she was a member of the Sang family, nothing else. He silently reassured himself.
After calming himself down, he gestured a few times in the dark, and soon Dark Night brought him a cloak.
Long Jingchen carefully draped the cloak over Sang Jiang's shoulders, while he gazed at the distant stars. The weather had been lovely lately, and the stars were very bright.
He became much more silent after seeing what happened to the Empress Dowager. Before, he would talk to the Empress Dowager about everything, but after that, he would sit alone on the roof and look at the stars.
As she watched, she found herself getting sleepy again. She glanced at Sang Jiang, who was sleeping peacefully, smiled slightly, and gently got up to pick her up.
Sang Jiang, perhaps sensing his presence in her sleep, rubbed against his chest a few times, her still-dry tears and mascara smearing all over Long Jingchen's body.
Long Jingchen frowned in disgust, resisting the urge to throw her down, and carried her back to his room.
...
The next morning, as soon as Sang Jiang opened her eyes, she saw Kou'er looking at her with a scrunched-up little face.
Sang Jiang raised an eyebrow: "What's wrong?"
Kou'er pouted and handed Sang Jiang a white coat.
Sang Jiang frowned as well: "What does this mean?"
She could tell it was Long Jingchen's outer garment, but what did he mean by giving it to her?
Kou'er didn't say anything, but took out another piece of paper and handed it to her.
"Ahem, well, it's alright, just leave it there, go get something to eat."
Sang Jiang looked at the words on the note and spoke to Kou'er with slight embarrassment.
As soon as Kou'er left, she opened the coat and saw the dark and red stains on the chest area. She couldn't help but mutter, "It's just an outer garment! How stingy! Making me wash it? Unbelievable!"
While saying that, his hands still honestly began checking the clothes.
