Chapter 114 Qiwu County

"May I ask, why did His Highness Prince Yi travel such a long and arduous journey to provide disaster relief?" Nan Wusi couldn't understand why Xiao Yi would go to provide disaster relief.

"It was merely a whim of mine," Xiao Yi replied. "Then why did Miss Nan insist on going along?"

“Of course I was worried about my brother,” Nan Wusi said. “My brother and I have never been apart since we were little. This time he went to such a far place as soon as he left the capital and was gone for so long, so I was naturally worried and went with him.”

"The relationship between Miss Nan and your brother is truly enviable," Xiao Yi remarked with some emotion.

"Of course, I was basically raised by my brother, so our bond is definitely stronger than most people's," Nan Wusi said proudly.

After Nan Wusi finished speaking, the carriage fell silent again.

The group had been traveling for almost half a month when they arrived at a relatively large county town nearby, named Qiwu County.

"Let's rest here in Qiwu County today. There are no other counties nearby if we continue onward," Nan Wuyu said to Nan Wusi and Xiao Yi.

The other two naturally had no objections either.

"Once we find a place to stay, we'll split up to buy supplies and set off early tomorrow morning," Nan Wuyu continued.

The other two nodded, indicating that they understood.

Upon arriving in Qiwu County, the group settled into an inn and then went out separately to purchase supplies.

Nan Wusi was going to buy mostly food, so she strolled around looking for something delicious to eat on the way.

Although the county town is small, it has a wide variety of delicious food. Nan Wusi and Ye Zi lingered among the various stalls.

Qiwu County also has a local specialty snack called Wutong Ba. It is made by first fermenting rice flour and then wrapping it in the leaves of the Wutong tree. Wutong Ba has a fragrant and refreshing taste, and the people of Qiwu County steam it to eat during festivals.

Namo Si tasted it and liked the flavor, so he decided to buy some to eat on the way.

"Grandpa, could you please pack up both of these steamers of wutong cakes for me? I'll take them all," Nan Wusi said generously to the stall owner.

"Little girl, these wutong cakes won't taste good if they're left out for too long. You can buy a little less." The old man looked at the quiet little girl, Nan Wusi, and was surprised that she bought so much.

"Haha, thank you for your kindness, grandpa, but there are many people in my family, and this is not enough for us." Nan Wusi and his group, including the guards, numbered several dozen people, and this amount of wutong cakes was indeed not enough for them.

"Beautiful lady, do you need me to help you carry all this?"

Just as Nan Wusi was waiting for the old man to pack the wutong cakes, a man walked over with a group of servants. This group was even more impressive than the young masters in the capital.

Nan Wusi glanced at the man coldly; he was slick-haired and powdered, clearly a frivolous person.

"No need," Nan Wusi said coldly. She had no time to deal with these inexplicable people.

"You, a young lady, can't possibly carry all this stuff. Why not accept my kind offer?" The man opened his fan and fanned himself, his affected manner utterly repulsive.

Nan Wusi noticed the old man's panicked expression; it seemed this man was a local bigwig.

After the old man finished packing all the wutong cakes, Nan Wusi picked one up with one hand. Ye Zi then handed the old man some loose silver.

After Ye Zi paid the bill, Nan Wusi didn't even look at the man and walked straight towards the inn.

However, before he could take two steps, the man blocked Nan Wusi's path.

"I'm talking to you. Don't think that just because you're beautiful, I won't hold it against you."

"Young master, do I know you?" Nan Wusi took a deep breath and asked.

"Now that we know each other, don't we?" the man replied flippantly.

“But I don’t want to know you.” Nan Wusi said coldly to the man. Although she had warned herself not to cause trouble, the situation seemed unlikely to end well.

"Don't be stubborn and refuse to listen to reason. It's your good fortune that I've taken a liking to you." The man's face turned cold after being rejected by Nan Wusi repeatedly.

"Get out of the way, I'm saying it one last time." Nan Wusi wasn't exactly known for his good temper.

"Hmph." Seeing that Nan Wusi was unrepentant, the man waved his hand and said, "Tie her up for me."

As soon as he finished speaking, the servants behind him rushed forward, indicating that this was not the first time they had forcibly abducted a woman.

Nan Wusi tossed the package to Ye Zi, signaling her to step aside, and then immediately began fighting.

Although there were many servants, they were all easily defeated. In no time, she had knocked them all to the ground and then walked towards the man.

The man was terrified. He had no idea that this woman was so skilled in fighting. He retreated while threatening, "Do you know who I am? Let me tell you, if you dare to hit me, I'll make sure you never leave Qiwu County!"

Of course, Nan Wusi wouldn't listen at all; this man's threats had no effect on her. She might have been wary of royalty, but this nobody was someone she couldn't afford to offend.

So Nan Wusi gave him a good beating, beating him until he was pissing his pants and crying for mercy.

After the group of people left, Nanwusi picked up the package again.

Although the surrounding people dared not openly gather around to watch, quite a few people still witnessed the scene.

An older woman came up and advised, "Young lady, you must be from out of town and don't know who this person is. You've offended someone you can't afford to offend today. You'd better leave before he comes back."

"Auntie, who is this man? How dare he act so arrogantly?" Nan Wusi took the opportunity to ask. She was also curious about how much power this man wielded to dare to abduct women in the street. Judging from his actions, many respectable women had probably already fallen victim to his cruelty.

"This man is the nephew of our county magistrate. He is extremely greedy and lustful, and we dare not speak out against him. So if he comes with his soldiers, you won't be able to leave. Young lady, you'd better hurry." The woman looked very anxious.

"Thank you, auntie, but I'm not afraid of him." Nan Wusi thanked her with a smile. She didn't expect that a county magistrate's nephew would dare to be so presumptuous.

"Oh dear, why won't you listen to advice, young lady? Even though you're good at fighting, you can't withstand a crowd of people." The older woman shook her head, somewhat helpless at Nan Wusi's refusal to listen to advice.

"Don't worry, auntie, I didn't come alone." Nan Wusi smiled. She wanted to see if that person really dared to send soldiers to arrest her.

"Sigh." The woman could only sigh and leave.

Nan Wusi also carried various snacks back to the inn where she was staying, but at the door she encountered Xiao Yi, whose face was very ugly.

This was strange, as this was the first time Nan Wusi had ever seen Xiao Yi with such an unpleasant expression.
