Chapter 14 Rui Rui Wants Her Mom

Chapter 14 Rui Rui Wants Her Mom

When Huo Huai Sui returned from the restroom, she didn't see Gu Sui Xing and asked, "Where's my fourth brother?"

Lu Fengqing: "...said he had something to do and left."

"Confess and you'll be treated leniently!" Huo Huaisui began questioning Lu Fengqing: "How did you know my fourth brother wanted to find a platonic man with a cold personality?"

“He said it to his blind date,” Lu Fengqing explained. “He was standing close by and overheard it.”

Huo Huaisui recalled his fourth brother's position just now, accepted the explanation, and said, "This excuse might be what he used to politely decline his blind date."

"I don't know." Lu Fengqing replied with an indifferent expression.

"Fine." Huo Huai Sui continued to question, "Why didn't you tell me that you and my fourth brother knew each other a long time ago?"

Lu Fengqing looked completely innocent. "You didn't ask."

"..." So it's her fault now?

After a brief stare, Huo Huai Sui was the first to concede defeat.

Forget it. They're just classmates, not exes or first loves or anything like that, there's nothing to dwell on.

The two chatted about other things for a while, and when the topic turned to the fashion show to be held in F country next month, Huo Huai Sui looked distressed: "I just bought a car last month, and I don't have much money left in my account, so I'm afraid I won't be able to go next month."

“My mom is always in the lab, and I can’t contact her for at least 360 out of 365 days a year. I had to ask my dad for money when I didn’t have enough to buy a car, so I’m too embarrassed to ask him again. As for my brother, you know him.”

Mentioning Huo Huai'an made Huo Huai Sui grit his teeth. "He's a real cheapskate. Getting money from him is like trying to get ivory from a dog's mouth. No wonder he's over twenty and doesn't even have a girlfriend. With a stinginess like that, what sane woman would want to be with him?"

Huo Huai Sui's parents divorced when she was very young. She lived abroad with her mother from a young age. After graduating and returning to China, she did not go out to work but stayed at home to engage in literary creation—to put it simply, she stayed at home writing novels.

She's not doing too well, but she's not doing too badly either. She's not bad because at least her novels earn her some money, but she's not good because the little money she earns isn't even enough to buy a handbag.

The reason Huo Huaisui's mother asked Huo Huaisui's aunt to introduce her to a potential partner was because she hoped her daughter would have a proper relationship and not stay at home all day "doing nothing productive".

Lu Fengqing suggested to her: "Return the car."

“…Get lost.” Huo Huai Sui rolled his eyes. “I only have this one car, unlike you, who alternates between a Maserati and a Lamborghini.”

“The Lamborghini belongs to my older brother. He parked it at my place and forgot to drive it away,” Lu Fengqing said, beckoning a waiter to pack a cake for her.

Huo Huai Sui was even more envious, "Other people's brothers are so good, why is my brother so bad?"

The small cakes were packed and delivered. Just as Lu Fengqing was about to pay, the waiter said with a smile, "Mr. Gu instructed that both of your expenses be put on his tab."

Lu Fengqing was speechless for a moment.

How come she never noticed before that guy was so persistent?

Huo Huai Sui was used to it, and didn't forget to praise his fourth brother: "My fourth brother has always been like this, a gentleman, and knows how to treat people. He's obviously a man who dotes on his wife."

Lu Fengqing didn't respond, her expression indifferent.

Seeing that she didn't seem to have any particular feelings for Gu Suixing, Huo Huaisui had no choice but to give up. "Since you don't like it, then forget it. When your foot gets better in a while, I'll take you to a nice place."

Lu Fengqing casually asked, "Where?"

Huo Huai Sui said mysteriously, "You'll find out when the time comes."

Lu Fengqing's eyelids twitched, and a bad premonition rose in her heart.

The last time Huo Huai Sui used this expression to keep her in suspense, he took her to an adult store the next day.

When they came out, Huo Huai Sui accidentally bumped into her, and she didn't hold the bag properly, so the contents spilled all over the floor.

That's not even the worst part.

That day, her older brother and second brother were meeting with clients at the teahouse diagonally opposite. They saw the two of them sneakily squatting on the ground picking something up, and they came over out of curiosity.

...She still remembers the colorful expressions on her two brothers' faces.

Just thinking about this old story is suffocating.

-

The black Bentley drove smoothly on the highway.

Assistant Fang sat in the passenger seat, reporting the progress of several projects to her superior as usual.

Gu Suixing sat in the back seat, her long, straight legs crossed, leaning against the window and resting her forehead on her hand, gazing at the receding scenery outside.

After finishing her work-related conversation, Assistant Fang started talking about things unrelated to work, "Half an hour ago, Xingheli called and said that Miss Lu the Second wanted to go in to see Miss Lu, but the security guards wouldn't let her in and stopped her at the door."

Gu Suixing raised his eyelids, his peach blossom eyes filled with coldness. "Sending her to Tang Xingzhou's bed is too good for her. Send someone over there..."

The rest of the conversation was drowned out by the hustle and bustle of traffic.

-

After leaving the coffee shop, Huo Huaisui glanced at the time and asked, "Want to get your nails done together?"

Lu Fengqing glanced at her clean nails and was somewhat tempted, but thinking of her sprained ankle, she hesitated for a moment and finally refused with a heavy heart: "No."

Huo Huai Sui glanced at her feet and gave her a sympathetic look.

It was almost time for kindergarten to let out, so Lu Fengqing simply drove there.

Baijia Kindergarten is a well-known elite kindergarten in City A. The children who attend here come from wealthy and influential families. Even before school ends, the road in front of the kindergarten is already filled with all kinds of luxury cars.

At 4:30 p.m. sharp, the kindergarten bell rang, and parents rushed to pick up their children.

Lu Fengqing walked to the door and immediately saw Rui Rui, who was standing quietly at the very end of the line with her little schoolbag on her back.

"Rui Rui!"

The little guy looked over at the sound and his eyes lit up.

The young female teacher looked at Lu Fengqing, a hint of amazement flashing in her eyes. She followed Rui Rui to the door and asked, "Are you Lu Chenrui's mother?"

Before Lu Fengqing could answer, Rui Rui suddenly hugged her leg, looked up at her with a pitiful expression.

Lu Fengqing's heart softened immediately, and she patted his little head.

Seeing this, the female teacher didn't ask any more questions, but instead complained: "The child has been here for almost a semester, and the father has only come to pick him up a few times. You, the mother, have never come even once. His enrollment file doesn't even have the mother's name written on it. We all thought... You two are far too irresponsible as parents."

Looking at the little guy's dark head, Lu Fengqing felt a lump in her throat, and after a long while, she managed to squeeze out a sentence: "I'm sorry."

The female teacher sighed, but quickly smiled again and said gently, "Lu Chenrui is a bit introverted, but he has a good personality, and all the children in the class like him very much. Of course, the little guy is also very handsome; now it seems he takes after you, especially his eyes..."

Perhaps because she felt it was a rare opportunity to meet Lu Chenrui's "mother," the female teacher held Lu Fengqing's hand and talked for nearly half an hour before letting them leave.

Lu Fengqing looked down and asked the little guy, "Are you hungry?"

Rui Rui shook her head, looking a little down.

Lu Fengqing pretended to be unhappy and asked, "Rui Rui said yesterday that Auntie is a fairy and that she likes Auntie the most. Why didn't you smile when you saw your fairy auntie today?"

Rui Rui still didn't smile, but she spoke up: "I like you the most, Auntie."

Lu Fengqing pinched his little face helplessly, picked him up and put him in the back seat, and put the small cake in his hand. "You still have dinner tonight, so you can only eat half of the cake."

Rui Rui didn't smile when she received her favorite little cake; she just nodded.

As soon as Lu Fengqing got into the car, she suddenly heard a small voice from the back seat: "Rui Rui wants her mom."

Lu Fengqing was stunned.
