Chapter 139 Who's Really Worried?

After Ning Huan's surgery was over, she almost fainted. Her face was deathly pale, she was covered in cold sweat, and her lips were completely bloodless.

She performed the entire surgery herself, from setting the bone and removing the bone fragments to even suturing. Such a large amount of surgery would be overwhelming even for a healthy person.

Despite her injured arm, Ning Huan managed to complete the task.

Because the effects of the anesthetic powder on Zhou Jing'an hadn't worn off yet, he hadn't woken up. Ning Huan sat in a chair and gave Si Yan instructions on what to do after Zhou Jing'an woke up.

But Si Yan gradually noticed something was wrong; Ning Huan's sleeve was stained with a large patch of blood. Judging from the amount of bleeding, the wound must have reopened during Zhou Jing'an's surgery.

"Ning Huan, your wound!"

As if she already knew, Ning Huan took out a strip of cloth from the side and handed it to Si Yan: "Manager Si, please help me."

Si Yan deftly bandaged Ning Huan's wound, and when he saw it, his eyes widened in surprise.

"Your wound is so serious, yet you still need to perform surgery on Mr. Zhou. Aren't you afraid something might happen to you? Also, this tearing of the wound isn't an accident; it was bound to happen!"

"If you lose too much blood, you will die. You are risking your life to perform surgery on Mr. Zhou!"

Ning Huan, standing before Si Yan, was a patient, and this patient was taking risks without any regard for her own health. As a doctor himself, he found this unacceptable, hence the hint of anger in his words.

But upon closer listening, the anger was actually filled with worry: "This is outrageous! If I had known that you were in this condition, I would never have agreed to give Mr. Zhou treatment today."

After Ning Huan was bandaged up by Si Yan, she had no strength left. She could only lean back in her chair and force a smile as she said:

"Manager Si, don't be angry. I'm perfectly fine, and you'll have to cover for me later. Don't forget the words I taught you."

Si Yan watched coldly as Ning Huan walked behind the screen, intending to climb back through the window.

Ning Huan had just opened the window when a voice suddenly came from behind her: "Ning Huan, my lady... may I become your disciple?"

She turned around to look at Si Yan with some surprise, and found him looking down with a bit of embarrassment, so she smiled and said, "Whatever you want."

Ning Huan, who had climbed back through the window, originally intended to retrieve some medicine to replenish her vital energy from her consciousness space, or at the very least, drink the sap of the spirit tree, which would be most effective. However, considering that she still had to deal with that old woman, Yao Shi, she figured her current weakened state was just right.

Just as she was about to step into the waiting room, she heard Si Yan say from inside, "The surgery went very smoothly and is now over. Mr. Zhou's leg injury has been healed."

Yao asked, "How did you perform the surgery on my son? You just said he was cured and that's it?"

Si Yan looked at Yao Shi and thought to himself that this old woman had started causing trouble as soon as she arrived at the clinic. Judging from Ning Huan's words, she must have given her a lot of trouble. Today, he would teach this old woman a lesson.

This can be considered Si Yan's apprenticeship ceremony.

So he took out the bone fragments that Ning Huan had just removed from Zhou Jing'an's leg. They were bloody, and some of the bones were even covered with bits of flesh.

"These are the bone fragments in Mr. Zhou's leg. After removing them, his broken leg will be restored."

Upon seeing the bones, the village chief and several elders, who had seen their share of life, managed to suppress their reactions. Yao, however, screamed, followed by nausea and persistent dry heaving.

"Take it away! Take it away!"

Si Yan raised an eyebrow slightly: "Auntie, didn't you just ask me how I treated you? I showed you the treatment results, why are you asking me to take them away?"

As he spoke, he deliberately moved the plate containing the broken bones toward Yao's direction.

A strong smell of blood assaulted Yao's nose, and she almost vomited up the five vegetarian buns she had just eaten.

She quickly waved her hand and said, "Dr. Si, I was just asking and showing concern for my son. Please take it away!"

Seeing that Yao was quite frightened by him, Si Yan finally put away the broken bones with satisfaction.

Although the villagers nearby were also somewhat frightened, they were all amazed by Si Yan's medical skills.

"This Doctor Si is really amazing; he actually cured Jing'an's leg."

"Good heavens! He can even take out the bone that's embedded in our legs! Is Dr. Si some kind of miracle doctor?!"

"I've always said that Jing'an is a blessed person, and this illness has been cured."

As Ning Huan walked in, she heard the village chief thanking Si Yan, so she joined in and said to Si Yan, "Thank you, Doctor Si, for your miraculous healing."

Having just been frightened, Yao was bursting with anger the moment she heard Ning Huan's voice: "You little bitch, Ning Huan, where have you been!"

"Your husband is being treated for his illness, his life hangs in the balance, and you've gone out to play! What kind of wife are you?!"

Her mouth spewed out a torrent of curses: "Shameless bastard! Your mother-in-law wants to eat glutinous rice cake, so you just buy cheap vegetarian buns to make do, huh? I bet you're just hoping Jing'an dies soon so you can be completely free and go wherever you want to die, right?"

"Let me tell you, you don't need to be so arrogant anymore. When Jing'an comes out, I'll tell him all about this! I'll make my son divorce you tomorrow!"

Upon hearing this, Si Yan's lips twitched.

If it weren't for the need to keep it a secret from Ning Huan, he would have loved to tell this old woman that Zhou Jing'an's leg injury was treated by someone else, and yet she still wants to divorce him—what was she thinking?!

But Ning Huan bit her lip and looked at Yao Shi with a wronged expression, saying, "I didn't go out to play because I was so worried about my husband that I had to go outside for some fresh air."

The moment they saw Ning Huan, everyone believed what she said.

Ning Huan's face was deathly pale, and her whole body was drenched in cold sweat, as if she had just crawled out of the water.

My legs felt weak, as if I were about to collapse to the ground at any moment.

Madam Yang quickly stepped forward to support Ning Huan, asking worriedly, "Sister, are you alright? Should we have Doctor Si take a look at you right away?"

Before Si Yan could speak, Ning Huan shook her head: "Sister-in-law, I'm fine, I'm just too worried about my husband, I've been sweating profusely."

The village chief and the others were just thinking that if their relatives were receiving treatment inside, they would probably be extremely worried.

They could understand Ning Huan's reaction, but looking at Yao's side, they said they cared about their son and were worried about him.

But all day long, he either throws tantrums at his wife or causes trouble with the doctor at the clinic. He's full of energy and can eat five steamed buns in one go and still not feel like he's had enough.

Now, anyone with eyes can tell who is truly worried about Zhou Jing'an just by looking at them.
