Si Yan's mouth dropped open as he watched Ning Huan climb in through the window.
He asked in surprise, "Madam Ning Huan, how did you..."
Ning Huan pointed to the road outside the window and said, "Isn't there a small alley leading from the back of Renjitang? That's how I came here. Your window isn't high, so I can just climb over it."
Si Yan was still somewhat shocked. He hadn't even had a chance to tell Ning Huan about this method before she discovered it.
This woman was indeed more formidable than he had imagined.
"Dr. Si, who are you talking to?"
Lying on the bed, Zhou Jing'an asked somewhat curiously, "Is anyone else here?"
Si Yan didn't know how the surgery was performed, so before Ning Huan arrived, he and Zhou Jing'an just stared at each other.
The window through which Ning Huan climbed in was at the very back of the room, separated by two screens, so Zhou Jing'an didn't notice it.
Si Yan hurriedly called out, "Mr. Zhou, I'm preparing the medicinal herbs needed for the treatment later. No one is speaking. Did you hear me correctly?"
Then Ning Huan handed him a packet of powder: "Give him this powder."
Si Yan asked in confusion, "What is this?"
Ning Huan explained, "This is anesthetic powder, also known as a sleeping potion. However, this packet of powder is much more potent than the regular sleeping potion."
Si Yan watched as Ning Hua pulled out a lot of things from his basket, including knives, pliers, and a hammer; he was just short of pulling out an axe!
He swallowed hard. Was Ning Huan's wife going to heal someone or dismember them?
In fact, the knives and pliers that Si Yan saw were surgical instruments that Ning Huan took out from her consciousness space and put there when she was in the modern world.
It was originally a reserve of equipment prepared just in case, but I never expected it would actually come in handy.
After Si Yan fed Zhou Jing'an the anesthetic powder and watched him gradually fall asleep, she dared to call Ning Huan over.
But Zhou Jing'an was not completely asleep yet. He saw a blurry figure gradually emerge from behind the screen. It seemed very familiar to him, but he couldn't make out the figure's appearance.
When he tried to open his eyes again, everything went black, and he fell into a deep sleep.
Ning Huan looked at Si Yan, who was eager to learn, and kindly asked, "Manager Si, are you sure you want to come with me?"
Si Yan nodded: "Madam Ning, I have always been very curious about this legendary surgical technique. Now that I have such a good opportunity, I certainly can't miss it."
Ning Huan raised an eyebrow: "Alright, then please have Manager Si hand me some things later."
Then, with a mischievous grin, he said, "By the way, Manager Si, you mustn't desert your post at the last minute."
Si Yan: I suddenly have a bad feeling...
After she put on a mask, a sterile hat, and gloves, she saw confusion in Si Yan's eyes, which were only showing his eyes.
Ning Huan explained, "These are special garments used for surgery; they are all specially treated and very clean."
Next, Ning Huan took a deep breath and began to treat Zhou Jing'an's leg.
The wound on her arm was still throbbing, and it had taken her a lot of strength to steady her hand just to cut open Zhou Jing'an's leg with a scalpel.
Ning Huan asked Si Yan to stabilize Zhou Jing'an's leg, and then slowly and forcefully cut open the muscle to expose the bone.
Si Yan stared at the scene before him, his eyes slowly widening...
However, in the waiting room, Madam Yao was throwing a tantrum, yelling, "That little bitch Ning Huan, she gave her mother-in-law this kind of rubbish? Didn't I say I wanted glutinous rice cake? Don't try to appease me with vegetarian buns!"
Yang angrily placed the steamed buns on the table and then shouted at Yao, "These steamed buns are yours! Eat them if you want, or don't!"
Yao couldn't stand this insult and shouted shrilly toward the door, "Why isn't Ning Huan back yet? Where the hell has she gone?!"
Then it dawned on them that Ning Huan hadn't come back at all.
"Did that little slut sneak out to play? I knew she was being kind enough to buy food; turns out she just went out to have some fun."
"Does she have no heart? My son is in there having surgery, and her daughter-in-law is still running around playing! Our Zhou family can't afford a daughter-in-law like that. Once my son recovers, I'll make sure Jing An divorces this little bitch!"
Hearing these words, Yang couldn't help but speak up for Ning Huan: "Auntie, what you said is too harsh! Ning Huan was just too worried about Brother Jing An's surgery, she was so panicked that she wanted to go for a walk outside to catch her breath before coming back."
The village chief and the elders in the village all felt that what Yang said made perfect sense. If it were their own relatives undergoing such a dangerous operation inside, they would probably be just as panicked as Ning Huan.
But Yao insisted on Ning Huan going out to play: "I told you she went out to play, and she said she would come back after catching her breath. It was clearly just an excuse!"
The village chief frowned as he looked at Yao Shi. He had been putting up with Yao Shi for a long time today. He looked at Yao Shi with displeasure and said, "Enough! Yao Shi, I don't think you're going to stop making trouble today?"
This finally stopped Yao from talking, but she still had a long face and kept muttering curses under her breath.
Inside the room, Ning Huan was enduring excruciating pain in her arm as she performed surgery on Zhou Jing'an.
But Si Yan, standing to the side, seemed to be in even more pain than her, his face pale as he struggled to suppress the churning in his stomach.
Ever since he witnessed Ning Huan using that special knife to cut open Zhou Jing'an's leg, exposing the stark white bone, and then using tweezers to carefully remove the bone fragments, he had been feeling unwell all over.
The more I thought about it, the more nauseous I felt, and my stomach kept churning.
Seeing Si Yan's distressed state, Ning Huan felt both amused and helpless. She had already reminded him, but Si Yan insisted on staying to watch.
Zhou Jing'an's leg injury was severe. Because he did not receive timely treatment, the broken bones had already begun to be covered by flesh and blood.
Ning Huan not only had to reattach Zhou Jing'an's leg, but also remove the broken bones one by one. Some were stuck to the flesh and had to be torn off by hand.
Si Yan had never seen such a scene before, so it's normal for her to feel upset.
Ning Huan advised, "If you're not feeling well, go sit down and rest for a while. You don't need to help here anymore. I've already removed all the bone fragments. Once it's stitched up, the surgery will be over."
Her voice sounded very weak, and although her face was covered by her clothes, the fine sweat on her forehead told him that Ning Huan was forcing herself to stay strong.
Si Yan asked with concern, "Madam Ning Huan, you don't look well. Can you still hold on?"
Ning Huan smiled faintly: "Even if you can't hold on, you have to. What kind of doctor would treat a patient halfway through and then leave the patient here to rest?"
