Chapter 269: The Gambling House

Chapter 269: The Gambling House

Yuan Siyin didn't have time to pay attention to him. Without turning her head, she simply pulled off her outer robe, revealing the golden whip at her waist. The waiter stared at it for less than half a breath before he was so frightened that he wet himself.

"Don't shout, come here."

The waiter swallowed hard, forced by her intimidating presence, and had no choice but to approach Yuan Siyin: "What business does the princess have with me?"

"That place."

Yuan Siyin pointed to an inconspicuous shop not far away. A wine flag fluttered in the wind at the shop entrance, the two doors were tightly closed without any gaps, and a thick red cotton curtain was hung outside.

"Ah, that's a gambling den. I don't know who owns it, but it's been around for several years."

When the waiter called her and she didn't speak for a moment, he quickly chimed in, "Princess, don't worry, I will definitely not tell anyone about your trip to the gambling den. You can go without worry if you want to!"

Yuan Siyin: "..."

Thank you.

"Alright, nothing else, let's go."

Yuan Siyin waved her hand, and the waiter, as if granted a pardon, slipped back to slack off.

Zhong Heng had been keeping watch outside the gambling den, showing no intention of going in. Yuan Siyin also patiently decided to see what he was waiting for.

Before long, a carriage slowly stopped in front of the gambling house, and a person dressed in plain clothes got off. Although his face could not be seen, he was easily recognizable.

Who else could it be but that dog Yu Shiyan? Don't think you can fool people by changing your clothes!

Yuan Siyin gave a disdainful snort.

If you want to gamble, then gamble. It's harmless for people to have their own little hobbies. But why did you come to this relatively remote gambling den for no reason?

Could it be that the real intention is not what it seems?

Yu Shiyan turned his head to look at Zhong Heng, his voice indifferent: "The person carrying the food box went in?"

"Yes, they just went in less than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea."

Zhong Heng instinctively clasped his hands in response, but Yu Shiyan reached out and helped him up: "There's no need for that once you go in; it will only arouse suspicion."

"yes."

Zhong Heng's tone remained unchanged, his expression as serious as if someone owed him a fortune.

Yu Shiyan glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, "Relax."

"I'm very relaxed."

"...Alright, let's go in."

Seeing the two figures disappear behind the door, Yuan Siyin hurriedly came out from behind the pillar. After thinking it over, she went to the clothing shop to change into a set of fine clothes to dress as a man. She hung her purse on her waist and lifted the curtain to enter the gambling house. The noise from the street outside rushed into her ears.

"Come on, come on, bet on big or small, place your bet and you're done!"

"It's open! It's open! Twelve o'clock! Big!"

"I lost again, what bad luck!"

Yuan Siyin looked around with curiosity, not forgetting to dodge a stumbling drunkard.

A burly man with a headscarf on the second floor leaned against a wooden pole, a handful of peanuts in his hand. He squinted, taking in all the commotion in the lobby below. Upon seeing this scene, he immediately frowned and beckoned two waiters: "Go and take care of that man."

The two looked in the direction he was pointing and saw a fair-skinned young man downstairs. They immediately patted their chests and said, "Looks like it's his first time here, but his wallet looks heavy. I reckon he'll lose it all in three or five rounds."

"Let him play for now, and if anything seems amiss later..."

The man's small eyes were half-opened, and he made a gesture as if to knock someone unconscious.

"clear."

The two understood each other perfectly and immediately went downstairs arm in arm, while the man stayed upstairs to observe.
