The stage lights shone brightly as the SBS Drama Awards officially kicked off with an opening by hosts Lee Hwi-jae, Lee Bo-young, and Kim Woo-bin. After a series of humorous interludes, the awards ceremony moved on to its first award: the New Star Award.
"Next up are the awards for the newcomers who debuted this year through SBS dramas," Lee Bo-young said gently, her voice full of anticipation. "2013 SBS Drama Awards, New Star Award!"
Award presenters Kim Soo-mi and Jo In-sung took to the stage together. The appearance of the two veteran actors further enlivened the atmosphere.
"The winner is—" Jo In-sung opened the envelope and read out the name with a smile, "Ou Yang-yang who played the handsome, arrogant Choi Young-do in 'The Heirs'... Kang Min-hyuk... Choi Jin-hyuk... Kim Ji-won!"
Thunderous applause erupted. The four rose from the "The Heirs" set area. Ou Yangguang naturally stood up, letting Kim Ji-won go first. She wore a pink off-the-shoulder pleated dress that evening, her collarbone elegantly accentuated. Her shoulder-length curly hair, just reaching her collarbone, paired with wispy bangs, made her look sweet and delicate, like a Barbie doll. Ou Yangguang, on the other hand, had taken off her coat, wearing only a suit jacket. The sight of the two walking side-by-side towards the stage looked like a loving couple on camera.
Jo In-sung continued announcing the other winners: "Kim So-hyun for 'The Suspicious Housekeeper'..."
"Kang So-ra from 'Ugly Alert'..."
"Lin Zhouhuan of 'Ugly Alert'..."
"Sung Yu-ri in 'Cheongdam-dong Alice' and 'Master's Sun'..."

The award winners took turns going on stage, lined up, and gave their acceptance speeches one by one.
When it was Seo In-guk's turn, his humorous remarks elicited bursts of laughter. Then, Lee Bo-young handed the microphone to Kim Ji-won, asking, "This year has also been a significant one for Kim Ji-won, what do you think?"
Kim Ji-won bowed slightly, a sweet smile on her face, her voice soft, clear, and sincere, "It's a great honor to receive such an important award. Thank you so much to director Kang Shin-hyo and screenwriter Kim Eun-sook for helping the less-than-perfect Rachel meet everyone. The actors and staff have also worked incredibly hard..."
She paused, then continued, "I will find time to thank the others individually."
As soon as he finished speaking, the camera very "sensibly" cut to a close-up of Ou Yangguang. He was listening attentively with a smile on his face when the camera suddenly caught him. He paused slightly, then revealed an even wider smile and nodded gently.
Kim Ji-won blushed slightly as she finished her remarks: "I will strive to become a hardworking and promising actress. Thank you everyone."
"Congratulations!" the host, Li Huicai, immediately replied, and applause and some jeering laughter rang out from the audience.
The speeches continued. Finally, the microphone was handed to Ou Yangguang.
His amber eyes looked down at the audience, his gaze sweeping over the area where the cast and crew of "The Heirs" were located.
