With Aunt Bai's help, Le Yao felt much more relaxed. Aunt Bai helped Le Yao bathe Shuo Shuo and put him to sleep before preparing to go back.
"The lord probably hasn't eaten yet," Aunt Bai smiled. "I'll head back now."
Le Yao opened her mouth, wanting to say that he wouldn't go hungry, but in the end she didn't say anything. After all, he had helped her a lot, and she couldn't be so ungrateful.
For the next two days, Aunt Bai came over to help, and Le Yao and Sister Mei were obviously much more relaxed.
Shuo Shuo seems to really enjoy drawing; he can draw for an entire day at a time.
"Young Madam, you could also keep a small pet, like a puppy, which would be very beneficial for the child," Aunt Bai suggested.
“Okay.” Le Yao thought about it and agreed. She seemed to have seen something about “animal therapy” on TV before. “I’ll take him to the pet market this afternoon and let him get whatever he likes.”
Aunt Bai didn't stay for lunch because she had to go back to cook lunch for Nangong Jue.
“You’ve worked hard enough, let him come and eat,” Le Yao sighed. “It’s not like we’re missing a pair of chopsticks.”
"Okay." Aunt Bai smiled.
Nangong Jue quickly came over and, unusually, thanked Le Yao very politely, saying, "I'm sorry to have troubled you."
Le Yao's lips twitched, but she didn't say anything.
After lunch, Le Yao was going to take Shuo Shuo to buy a pet.
“I happen to be free, so I’ll join you,” Nangong Jue suggested, then sent a message to Fang Ming, “You’ll chair the meeting this afternoon.”
Fang Ming: ...
This is a management meeting! I'm just an assistant, how can I possibly chair it?
Nangong Jue probably knew the importance of the afternoon meeting, so he sent another message: If I say you can do it, you can do it. Keep it up!
Fang Ming: ...
What else can I say? It has to work out, even if it's not going to work out. Seriously, he's doing the job of a CEO but getting paid like an assistant. It's unfair.
There is a large pet market in Xiling City, located at the foot of the northern side of Xishan Mountain, which has been there for more than ten years.
Le Yao noticed that as soon as they got out of the car, Shuo Shuo's eyes lit up, and he seemed reluctant to leave the caged cats and dogs.
"Do you like it?" Le Yao asked the little guy.
The little guy looked at Le Yao, and although he didn't nod or answer, the light in his eyes showed that he liked her very much.
"Which one do you like? Point it out to Mommy," Le Yao guided the little one.
The little guy hesitated for a moment, then looked at each cage one by one.
When the small animals saw someone approaching, they all gathered around the cage and whimpered.
He looked around, then around, and finally, unexpectedly, he stopped in front of a small dog that looked like it was on its last legs.
"Mom." Shuo Shuo pointed at the dog and looked at Le Yao.
"Sir and Madam, this golden retriever is only a week old, but because its mother passed away, it hasn't been eating and is very weak. Why don't you look at some other breeds..." The stall owner was a bald man. "I have many breeds here."
"This one is fine, how much?" Nangong Jue asked directly.
"Normally it would cost at least a thousand, but this... if you're willing to raise it, I'll give it to you for free. I hope you can keep it alive..."
Finally, Shuo Shuo happily picked up the little golden retriever and grinned from ear to ear.
Not far away, a woman wearing a mask watched the three people's backs, a murderous glint flashing in her eyes.
