Chapter 6 The Scent of Iris

The man's voice immediately softened, and he said politely, "Then I'll trouble you."

The other party gave a precise arrival time and expressed their gratitude again.

Jiang Tong quickly replied, "No, no, it was nothing at all."

The two then politely hung up the phone.

Jiang Tong breathed a sigh of relief. Just talking to the other party on the phone gave her a strange sense of pressure. In short, he must be a very strict father figure.

Listening to the other person's fluent spoken English was much better than her soft and unclear speech. Her voice was also pleasant and gave people a very capable feeling.

She looked at her little boy, who was staring at her expectantly, and suddenly smiled at him. "Your daddy seems pretty fierce, doesn't he? No wonder you're afraid of him."

Zhou Jiaqi held the milk cup, licked the milk stains from his lips, and hummed, "Daddy is very fierce, but he is actually very gentle too."

Jiang Tong raised an eyebrow and glanced at the time. "Oh? But it's already 9:30. Your daddy won't be back for another two hours. You can't stay up so late, little one. Do you want to take a nap first?"

The little one nodded, then shook his head, "I like Auntie, I don't want to go to sleep."

Jiang Tong patted his soft hair and said with a smile, "Do you remember Auntie's address? If you're ever unhappy, come over to Auntie's place. You're always welcome to come and play."

"Auntie has another child at home who can play with you, so please don't run around alone anymore. It's dangerous. And your daddy will worry about you, okay? Qiqi, can you promise Auntie?"

Her gentle words resonated with the child. Zhou Jiaqi nodded, his eyes shining. "This is like a secret base?"

Jiang Tong was amused by him. "Yes, it can be your secret base."

She just thought the kids were so funny. What secret base could it be if even their dads knew about it? But as long as the kids were happy, that was all that mattered.

Jiang Tong waited for him to finish a glass of warm milk before getting a new towel, washing it, and then wiping the child's face, hands, and little feet.

While you're at it, apply some ointment for mosquito bites.

After that, I held him and comforted him, told him a few stories, and he fell asleep.

She's just as easy to coax as Hanhan.

Hanhan was also sleeping soundly. Zhou Jiaqi was very curious about this little sister who was the same age as him. Jiang Tong didn't let Zhou Jiaqi go to see her because she was afraid of waking Hanhan up.

She only learned from Zhou Jiaqi that the two children were only a few months apart, and it seemed that they would be attending the same kindergarten.

Zhou Jiaqi was also looking forward to his new neighbor, and he liked this gentle aunt even more.

Jiang Tong quietly watched over the two children. When the time she had arranged to meet Zhou Jiaqi's father arrived, the doorbell rang on time, and she immediately went to open the door.

The moment the door opened, her first impression was surprisingly the scent—the fragrance of irises wafted towards her. Then came a pair of beautiful black leather shoes, straight suit trousers, and finally, the man's excellent physique and handsome face.

He was a very handsome man, with striking features: dark eyebrows, deep-set eyes, a high nose, and perfectly proportioned lips.

She has a bit of an English mixed-race look, dressed very appropriately, with a brown suit, white shirt, and vest, and her eyebrows and eyes have a very imposing presence.

Jiang Tong's gaze did not waver; she calmly looked at him, finally offering a polite smile, "Are you Mr. Zhou?"

The man nodded in agreement, "I'm sorry to have bothered you for so long."

Her voice was as cold and clear as the one coming through the microphone.

"It's alright, it's too late. I'll let the child take a nap first, and I'll go get him. Please wait a moment."

As a single mother, it is common sense not to invite outsiders into the house late at night.

From Zhou Yuansheng's perspective, a gentle and graceful woman suddenly appeared before him. Her long, black hair was casually tied into a bun at the back of her head, with a few stray hairs falling around her cheeks. She had a dignified appearance and pleasant features, the typical look of a woman from Jiangnan. Her appearance and voice were both gentle and harmless, but her complexion was somewhat poor.

The weariness was also evident in his eyes and brows.

It was probably late at night, and she was only wearing loungewear, dressed very casually.

He is not an annoying person.

Jiang Tong gently picked up the baby. The child was well-cared for and quite heavy. She carefully handed the baby over.

She was initially worried that he wouldn't know how to hold a child, but the way he took the baby was surprisingly skilled and gentle, which surprised her.

"What's wrong?"

"Oh, no, I just didn't expect Mr. Zhou to be so skilled at holding the baby."

“I’ve always been the one taking care of Jiaqi.”

"You are such a good father."

"Thank you, I'm sorry to have troubled you today."

"No, no."

Jiang Tong was surprised that the seemingly aloof and unapproachable man could actually chat with her for a few minutes. It seemed that the little brat wasn't lying.

His dad is actually quite gentle.

Jiang Tong inevitably thought of Xu Huaiyuan. Xu Huaiyuan was the kind of person who seemed warm on the outside but was actually cold on the inside. He didn't participate much in raising his two daughters. He was so clumsy that he would even put shoes on the children.

She couldn't help but feel disgusted, and the thought of Xu Huaiyuan sent chills down her spine.

Jiang Tong shook her head, trying to shake Xu Huaiyuan's image out of her mind!

He then went back to his room and cuddled his beloved daughter to sleep.

But he couldn't help but think of his youngest daughter, and his heart ached, so he couldn't help but sigh.

That's a little devil.

She can't control her for the time being; she doesn't have the energy or the mood to waste time with her.

Early the next morning.

Jiang Tong managed to get a good night's sleep, but then her biological clock kicked in.
