The sound of washing clothes kept coming from the bathroom. Li Weiya would occasionally look up at the mirror and, through the reflections at certain angles, could see the young couple in the living room making noise.
Perhaps afraid that she might suddenly come out, Wang Ming and Shen Ying were still a little reserved, chatting awkwardly like friends. She probably wouldn't see the two of them behaving more intimately, which she was hoping to see.
Or should I just expose their relationship myself?
Li Weiya thought to herself.
Around 10 o'clock, there was another knock on the door.
This time, without Li Weiya's prompting, Wang Ming took the initiative to open the door. Jiang Xia and Lin Yanwan were there, bringing gifts to wish him a Happy New Year.
Is my godmother home?
"Here I am."
Wang Ming took two pairs of new slippers from the shoe cabinet and handed them to them; they had just been bought a few days ago.
"Ah Ming, is it Ah Xia and Yan Wan who are here?" Li Weiya's voice came from the bathroom.
"Yes, that's right."
"Then you keep an eye on things, I'll finish washing these clothes right away."
Jiang Xia glanced into the living room and found that Shen Ying was there too. He lightly punched Old Wang and whispered, "Goodness, has your relationship progressed to the point of meeting the parents?"
Wang Ming blushed and glanced at the bathroom out of the corner of his eye: "Nothing of the sort. Shen Ying just came to wish my mother a Happy New Year."
"Don't explain, I understand," Jiang Xia said with a grin.
The two placed the gifts on the table, and Lin Yanwan went over to greet Shen Ying. Seeing the smile in Shen Ying's eyes, Shen Ying blushed slightly, guessing that her best friend already knew about her relationship with Wang Ming.
However, with the two of them now in the room, the awkward atmosphere between her and Wang Ming when they were alone had eased considerably.
"Tsk tsk tsk, tsk tsk tsk..." Lin Yanwan teased, her voice very soft, "Yingying, you've come to see your future mother-in-law?"
"No!" Shen Ying denied.
"Hehehe, I get it. Anyway, you either have to see your mother-in-law or Wang Ming. You have to see one of them."
Shen Ying bit her lip and remained silent, her ears slowly turning red and burning.
She probably never imagined that she would be teased back when she used to make fun of Yan Wan.
"Yingying, from now on we really are family." Lin Yanwan winked at her.
Shen Ying was stunned for a moment. It seemed to be true, but the premise was that she had to marry Wang Ming. However, that day was still a long way off, unlike Jiang Xia and Yan Wan, who were about to get engaged.
A little while later, Li Weiya came out of the bathroom carrying a basin of washed clothes, which Wang Ming took over and hung out to dry on the balcony.
"Godmother," Jiang Xia said with a smile.
Looking at the huge pile of fruits and nutritional supplements they had bought, Li Weiya said helplessly, "You guys are something else. You're just here to have fun, why buy so much? We're going to the capital in a couple of days, and we'll have to throw away everything we can't finish. What a waste of money."
"Just this once, I won't buy it again next time." Jiang Xia's grinning face showed that he would dare to do it again next time.
What would you like to eat for lunch?
"No need for anything too complicated, just grab something to eat."
Li Weiya nodded, not wanting to cause trouble: "Then I'll just make some of my best home-style dishes."
After all, this was Shen Ying's first visit, so they couldn't treat their future daughter-in-law poorly.
So she turned around and went to the kitchen to cook, leaving the two young couples in the living room chatting and occasionally letting out bursts of laughter.
The group chatted about school, then about work, and soon the conversation drifted to relationships.
This is, in fact, the first time that the original members of Qitian Animation have gathered alone since they parted ways last summer.
Shen Ying felt a deep sense of emotion. When Jiang Xia first invited her to join the company last year, she never imagined that the company would develop to this point, and that her entire life would be so closely intertwined with theirs because of her choice back then.
It has to be said that this is her good fortune.
Whether it was Jiang Xia Yanwan, or Wang Ming and Li Weiya, they were all benefactors she encountered in her life.
She was very grateful.
Lunch was Li Weiya's specialty dishes: steamed beef with rice flour and taro chicken, along with a few home-style stir-fries. The whole family enjoyed the meal.
During the meal, Li Weiya kept serving food to Shen Ying, saying that she didn't come often and should eat more, or come more often in the future, which made Shen Ying blush unintentionally.
She had a feeling that Aunt Li must have noticed something was wrong, because she had never been so deliberately nice to her before.
After lunch, Jiang Xia and Lin Yanwan stayed for a while before saying goodbye and leaving, as they had other things to do that day.
Shen Ying chatted with Li Weiya for a while before leaving. Just before leaving, Li Weiya suddenly took out a prepared red envelope and handed it to her.
Shen Ying was stunned and didn't understand what it meant.
"Yingying, consider this your New Year's money from your aunt. Take it," Li Weiya said with a smile.
"No, no, no, Aunt Li, I'm all grown up now, I can't accept this." Shen Ying shook her head vigorously in refusal.
"In my opinion, as long as you are still studying, you are still a child. After you graduate, Auntie will not give you any more. Take this. Xia and Yanwan both had some earlier."
Hearing Li Weiya say that, Shen Ying felt embarrassed to refuse again. Clutching the thick red envelope, she blushed and said, "Thank you, Auntie."
Li Weiya smiled slightly and said, seemingly unintentionally, "We're all family, no need to be so polite with Auntie."
What was said in jest was taken seriously by the listener, and Shen Ying's face flushed even redder.
"Well, Aunt Li, goodbye Wang Ming, I'm going home now." Shen Ying pursed her lips and glanced at her beloved.
"Okay, come visit often in the future. If you have time to come to the capital, I'll ask Ah Ming to pick you up."
Wang Ming watched Shen Ying leave with longing eyes, but because of his mother, he felt embarrassed to see her off.
The door closed softly. Li Weiya glanced back at her son and said irritably, "Yingying is going home alone, aren't you going to see her off?"
"Huh? She's not a child, so...no need, right?" Old Wang pretended to be clueless.
"You brat, if you want to take him, go ahead and do it before he gets too far." After she finished speaking, she went into the restroom.
Wang Ming blinked. His mother's attitude was quite intriguing, but he didn't dwell on it. He put on his shoes and chased after her outside.
Hearing the door close, Li Weiya slowly came out of the bathroom, a hint of helplessness in her eyes. This silly son, even his mother has to match him up when he's dating.
At that moment, Shen Ying was waiting for the elevator in the stairwell. She looked at the thick red envelope in her hand, still not understanding what Aunt Li meant.
Why add the phrase "consider it as" when it's just New Year's money?
Isn't this a New Year's red envelope?
A short while later, Wang Ming also came out, her face lighting up with delight: "Why are you out here too?"
Wang Ming scratched his head: "My mom asked me to come and see you off."
He pursed his lips and asked.
"Ying, do you think my mom has already figured out that we're dating?"
