Chapter 107 How Much Short? I'll Make Up for It

Xiaofeng's mother put her hands on her hips, tilted her head back, and leaned against the wall: "Are you planning to keep fighting with me forever?"

"It's not about fighting; I just want to get justice for my son."

After saying that, He Lingchuan ignored her and gently patted Nan Chen's shoulder, saying in a tender tone, "Nan Chen, don't worry, Dad will definitely get justice for you. Dad won't let anyone bully you."

Zhou Mingyan stood aside watching the two of them argue, secretly searching for information about Xiaofeng's mother.

"The Jiang family?"

He took a deep breath; Xiaofeng's mother was actually the eldest daughter of the Jiang family.

If he remembered correctly, the Jiang family had been cooperating with the Shen family recently.

Zhou Mingyan frowned and whispered to Shen Yanxi, "Xixi, this is just a childish squabble, let's just let it go."

Shen Yanxi frowned, looking at the person beside her with a puzzled expression: "Why let it go? Didn't you see how badly Nan Chen was beaten by his son?"

It was obvious that he wasn't the only one who did it, otherwise Nan Chen wouldn't be covered in injuries.

Shen Yanxi took a step back, creating distance between herself and Zhou Mingyan.

She frowned, her expression growing increasingly somber: "Mingyan, you've disappointed me greatly this time."

She could guess why Zhou Mingyan wanted her to give up – wasn't it because of Xiaofeng's mother's identity?

Shen Yanxi spread her hands: "In terms of family background, our Shen family has never been afraid of anyone."

Zhou Mingyan frowned, still wanting to persuade him, when he saw Shen Yanxi standing next to He Lingchuan, speaking to him: "Mingyan, I am a mother, I cannot watch my child be bullied."

Her tone was serious, clearly blaming Zhou Mingyan.

For a moment, Zhou Mingyan had the illusion of being abandoned.

He lowered his head, looking aggrieved: "I'm doing this for your own good."

His eyes were lowered, and he pursed his lips, looking as if he might burst into tears at any moment.

Zhou Mingyan's voice trembled with grievance: "I just don't want you to lose the contract for a moment's pleasure."

Shen Yanxi gradually realized that they had indeed been negotiating a new project with the Jiang family recently.

She lowered her head and looked in Nan Chen's direction.

Nan Chen looked up, bewildered and innocent.

In that instant, maternal instinct triumphed over self-interest.

Shen Yanxi stood beside He Lingchuan: "I can't let the child suffer."

Zhou Mingyan was exasperated with her and wanted to persuade her: "But this contract is very important to us. We finally managed to negotiate it."

Shen Yanxi raised her hand to stop him from speaking: "Don't say anymore. I've made up my mind. Even if I don't want this contract, I can't let my child suffer."

After waiting at the hospital for almost twenty minutes, the police finally arrived.

The leader walked up to Xiaofeng's mother and looked at her respectfully: "Miss Jiang, did you call the police?"

"I did register."

He Lingchuan walked up to the policeman and immediately noticed that the policeman had a good relationship with Xiaofeng's mother.

He had just learned about this woman's identity through Zhou Mingyan; she was indeed extremely wealthy and powerful.

But for the sake of his child, he was willing to offend this woman.

He Lingchuan picked up Nan Chen and showed him the wounds on his body: "Officers, as you can see, all the injuries on my son's body were caused by Xiaofeng. I strongly urge you to deal with him according to the law."

The police officer frowned, his gaze shifting back and forth between He Lingchuan and Xiaofeng's mother.

He looked troubled: "This is just kids playing around. How am I supposed to handle it? Are you suggesting I put the kids in a detention center?"

He looked at Xiaofeng and shook his head: "This child is too young to be locked up."

He patted He Lingchuan on the shoulder, trying to persuade him: "If you ask me, let it go. It's normal for kids to play around."

He Lingchuan shrugged and said coldly, "Officer, I didn't bring you here to be a peacemaker. If you can't handle this, I'll find someone else."

After He Lingchuan finished speaking, he took out his phone to make a call.

The policeman frowned and immediately grabbed his hand: "What are you doing? Can't you talk things out properly?"

He Lingchuan frowned, his eyes filled with displeasure as he looked at him: "I wanted to talk things out properly, but you refused to handle it properly."

The policeman curled his lip, looked at He Lingchuan, and said impatiently, "Then tell me, how are you going to handle this?"

“It’s simple. Since there’s no way to send this child to the detention center, then just let him drop out of school. With him around, I’m afraid my son won’t have any peace and quiet in his schooling.”

Dropping out of school would be good for them both.

The police officer glanced at Xiaofeng's mother and immediately objected: "How can this be allowed? Do you know how much harm this would cause to a small child?"

“I don’t know. All I know is that my son has been wronged, and it won’t do him any good to stay at this school.”

"Then why don't you let your child drop out of school?"

The police were clearly trying to help the other party. He Lingchuan saw through their intentions and, without saying a word, planned to call his superior.

He Lingchuan raised his hand, just as he was about to dial, when the policeman pressed him down: "Why do you keep calling those higher-ups? It's such a small matter, is it really worth it?"

"I can choose not to fight. How do you plan to resolve this matter?"

He Lingchuan was determined to achieve his goal.

The police officer initially intended to let it go, but Nan Chen had indeed sustained numerous injuries.

This is the most compelling evidence. Even if this woman has connections at the police station, she cannot escape her guilt in the face of this evidence.

Even if he sought help from others, it was to no avail, and Xiaofeng had no choice but to transfer schools.

Xiaofeng's mother glared indignantly at the teacher who had followed her. Her tone was fierce, and she spoke with an air of superiority: "I'll give your school one chance. Expel He Nanchen. Otherwise, your school can forget about getting my investment again."

After she finished speaking, He Lingchuan's gaze also fell on the teacher.

Countless eyes were on the teacher, who stammered, looking troubled: "I'm just a teacher at the school, I don't have that much power."

He Lingchuan has evidence to prove that Xiaofeng has been bullying Nanchen. The police have already let them leave, so there's no use in him coming to find him.

The teacher looked at He Lingchuan with a troubled expression, pleading with him by clasping her hands together: "Mr. He, how about we just let this matter go?"

"Then why should I go through all this trouble?"

He Lingchuan retorted to the teacher, then picked up Nan Chen, his tone stern: "The police have already ordered Xiaofeng to drop out of school, and you still want to protect him?"

"How could I possibly have the guts?"

The teacher was so anxious that he stamped his feet: "But if he leaves, our school's funding will be cut off. If the principal asks, I will have no way to explain it."

Shen Yanxi glanced at He Lingchuan and spoke first: "I'll make up the difference in terms of how much money is short."
