He Lingchuan's eyes widened, and he slowly tightened his grip on Gu Chengze's hand: "I'm very calm. I just want to see my child."
Given Shen Yanxi's personality, she is very likely to make Nan Chen transfer schools, so he can only ask to see the child while he is injured.
He Lingchuan shouted in the direction Shen Yanxi had left, "Shen Yanxi, where is Nan Chen? Take me to see him now!"
Shen Yanxi walked a long way before turning back: "You'll never see him again."
He Lingchuan's breathing suddenly stopped. He took a deep breath and fainted.
"Lingchuan, Lingchuan, wake up! How are you?"
Gu Chengze shouted and rushed out to find a doctor.
Shen Yanxi turned around and looked at He Lingchuan lying on the bed, and snorted coldly: "Stop pretending. Do you think I'll let you see Nan Chen just like that?"
Gu Chengze ran to find the doctor, but overheard Shen Yanxi making sarcastic remarks to He Lingchuan. He was so angry that his face turned pale: "Shen Yanxi, stop gloating here. If anything happens to Lingchuan, I will never forgive you."
Shen Yanxi was pushed away by Gu Chengze, and the expression on her face wasn't much better.
She stomped her feet in anger and didn't stay a minute longer.
...
Not long after Shen Yanxi left, He Lingchuan finally regained consciousness, but was still unconscious.
Before leaving, the doctor instructed Gu Chengze not to subject him to any further stimulation.
Gu Chengze looked at the person lying on the bed with their eyes closed, muttering something, and nodded in agreement.
Gu Chengze moved closer to He Lingchuan and listened for a minute before he could understand what he was saying: "Nan Chen, I want Nan Chen."
"I'll bring Nan Chen to see you once you've recovered."
Gu Chengze looked at him helplessly and couldn't help but scold him: "Even in this situation, you're still thinking about Nan Chen. Your son is such an ingrate."
He had been asking the nurses for information recently, and they said that Nan Chen's injuries were not serious, but he was mainly frightened.
However, this level of fright was not enough to make him hate He Lingchuan too much. To put it bluntly, it was only because someone was whispering in his ear that he disliked He Lingchuan so much.
Looking at the unconscious person lying on the bed, Gu Chengze felt that everything he had done was in vain.
He Nanchen didn't appreciate his kindness at all, and Shen Yanxi didn't even consider He Lingchuan a human being.
Gu Chengze sat to the side and sighed, planning to have a good talk with He Lingchuan after he woke up.
Three hours later, He Lingchuan finally woke up.
He reached out his hand, and his first question was about Nan Chen: "Where's Nan Chen? Has he come to see me?"
He Lingchuan still held a sliver of hope, always thinking that Nancheng would come back to see him once he knew he was injured, but each time it was just a false alarm.
Gu Chengze handed him a glass of water: "Have some water first, then we can have a good talk."
He Lingchuan could roughly guess what he was going to say, and reached out to stop him: "I can't give up my two children."
"I didn't tell you to give up."
Gu Chengze cut to the chase: "My suggestion is to take Beichen with you. Compared to others, he still has some sense of right and wrong and knows that this matter has nothing to do with you. As for that Nanchen, just let it go. He has never treated you like a father from beginning to end, so why should you care about him so much?"
Human hearts are made of flesh and blood. After so long, Nan Chen's attitude towards He Lingchuan has been completely reversed overnight because of a vague kidnapping. There's no point in keeping a child like that.
He Lingchuan hung his head and remained silent. Gu Chengze didn't know if he had listened to him or not, so he stopped trying to persuade him.
He glanced at the kettle by the bedside, then made up an excuse to leave: "I'm going to get some hot water. Think carefully about what I said."
As the door slammed shut, He Lingchuan's face turned ashen.
He watched Gu Chengze's departing figure, his eyes filled with melancholy.
A few minutes later, a knock came from downstairs; it must have been a short child knocking.
He Lingchuan suddenly raised his head, his eyes full of anticipation: "Come in."
When the person outside pushed open the door and saw Bei Chen, He Lingchuan couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
His expression didn't escape Bei Chen's eyes. Bei Chen stood there somewhat at a loss, his two little hands twisting together: "Dad, do you not like me coming?"
He Lingchuan then realized that his attitude towards Bei Chen had been a bit poor, and he quickly shook his head: "How could that be? Dad has been waiting for you."
He Lingchuan glanced outside the door and, sure enough, he had come alone.
He put on a stern face and reminded Beichen, "You can't come alone anymore, understand?"
He Lingchuan was worried that the hospital was a place where people might have ulterior motives.
With no one around, Bei Chen, a small child, is easily in danger.
"I know, Dad. I came here to tell you that Nan Chen actually planned to come and see you."
Upon hearing this, He Lingchuan immediately perked up.
He looked at Beichen in disbelief: "You're not lying to Dad?"
Didn't Nan Chen stop liking him? Why is she coming to see him again?
Hearing his words, Bei Chen nodded firmly: "But Mom won't allow it."
He Lingchuan had already guessed he would say that. He patted the edge of the bed, gesturing for Beichen to sit down: "What else did Nanchen say? Does he know you're here? Did he have any message for Dad?"
When he heard the last word, Bei Chen's lips twitched noticeably.
“He told me to ask my dad why those people arrested him. He wanted me to ask you if he did something wrong.”
At this point, Bei Chen looked at He Lingchuan cautiously: "Dad, I really like you, please don't take me away, okay?"
Hearing this, He Lingchuan felt a mix of emotions: "Who told Nan Chen that Dad did this on purpose?"
Without guidance, children would never think of this level.
Bei Chen hesitated, probably because he was afraid of being blamed.
He Lingchuan touched Bei Chen's face and slowly said, "Don't be afraid, Dad will support you."
He Lingchuan was very patient, and his gaze toward Beichen was very gentle.
Bei Chen tilted his head back and said innocently, "I didn't hear who said it."
"Did you see anyone go in to look for Nan Chen?"
Bei Chen paused for a moment, then nodded gently: "Mom went in, and Uncle Zhou went in too. Before, Nan Chen asked me how Dad was doing, but after Uncle Zhou went in, Nan Chen never asked again."
He Lingchuan's face grew increasingly gloomy as Bei Chen spoke. He patted Bei Chen's head and smiled gently, "Dad understands."
He had barely finished speaking when he heard a familiar voice.
Shen Yanxi burst through the door in a flurry of activity. The moment she saw Bei Chen, her face turned bright red: "Bei Chen, who told you to come here? Come back with me."
"Mom, Dad is injured, and I want to stay here to take care of him."
Shen Yanxi glared at He Lingchuan: "You taught him this, didn't you? He Lingchuan, you're really cunning."
