"It doesn't matter."
He didn't want to dissect his thoughts in front of Shen Yanxi, so he pretended to be nonchalant.
He Lingchuan pushed the divorce agreement forward and took out a pen he always carried with him: "You just need to sign it."
He kept his eyes on Shen Yanxi's expression as he spoke, trying to figure out how to say things that would make her agree to him without hesitation.
"I haven't agreed to divorce you yet."
Shen Yanxi appeared much calmer than He Lingchuan had imagined.
He didn't think Shen Yanxi said that because she was reluctant to part with herself; she was more likely just reluctant to part with a nanny who could help her take care of the family.
In the past, he would have brainwashed himself, telling himself that Shen Yanxi loved him.
He is more clear-headed now than at any other stage of his life.
"Divorce would be better for both of us, so why don't you get a divorce?"
He Lingchuan got straight to the point, leaving no room for negotiation.
“Since you want to be with Zhou Mingyan, you should divorce me.”
Shen Yanxi's expression changed drastically. She slammed her hand on the table, her face turning pale: "Who told you I was going to be with Mingyan?"
She's a married woman, how could she possibly be with Zhou Mingyan?
Besides, would anyone really be interested in a divorced man like him? He even has two children to support.
"Don't you want to be with him?"
He Lingchuan's gaze fell on Zhou Mingyan's shoulder. He curled up a sarcastic smile, mocking Shen Yanxi while laughing at Zhou Mingyan: "If you don't want to be with him, why are you living with him? And why did you introduce your two children to him?"
He paused, giving Shen Yanxi time to think, and when she looked up, he continued aggressively: "Don't tell me you're just friends. I've never met friends who can live together."
"I let him live with me just so I could take better care of him."
Shen Yanxi explained her actions to He Lingchuan for the first time.
She took it as He Lingchuan being jealous and throwing a tantrum.
For the sake of her two children, she didn't mind coaxing this man: "I thought you would understand me."
But despite her attempts to appease him, she still believed that He Lingchuan was being unreasonable.
She stepped forward and grabbed He Lingchuan's wrist: "Stop making a scene, I'll take you home."
"divorce."
He Lingchuan shook off his hand, completely unmoved by his actions.
"This is something you've always dreamed of."
Having said that, He Lingchuan didn't mind adding insult to injury: "Didn't you always want to be with Zhou Mingyan? What, now that I'm giving you this chance, you don't want it anymore?"
He wasn't narcissistic enough to think that Shen Yanxi liked him; he couldn't figure it out, so he simply stopped thinking about it.
"The sooner you get a divorce, the sooner you can marry the person you love. Isn't that better?"
He tried his best to persuade Shen Yanxi, but she remained unmoved.
He Lingchuan's mouth was dry, and he placed all his hopes on Zhou Mingyan: "Do you want to be a mistress forever? Don't you want to be made the wife?"
“Mr. He, I think you’ve misunderstood. Whether you get a divorce or not is meaningless to me.”
He kept looking at Shen Yanxi as he said this, trying to create an image of being neither humble nor arrogant in front of her.
Sensing the gaze beside her, Shen Yanxi turned around and met his eyes.
She gave a friendly and polite smile.
Zhou Mingyan had a misconception that Shen Yanxi's attitude towards him had changed a lot ever since He Lingchuan came in and said he wanted a divorce.
He clenched his fists, sensing danger for the first time.
He stepped forward, pretending to persuade him, but actually adding fuel to the fire: "Mr. He, you two should talk things out. Don't misunderstand me. I don't want you and Xixi to quarrel because of me."
His voice sounded so pitiful, as if he were the biggest victim in the world.
"If that's the case, then you can leave."
Zhou Mingyan hadn't expected He Lingchuan to be so direct, and hadn't even thought of a rebuttal.
He stood frozen in place, somewhat embarrassed.
"Why are you leaving? Your injuries haven't healed yet. You're not allowed to leave."
Shen Yanxi's favoritism towards Zhou Mingyan chilled He Lingchuan's heart.
He pointed to the divorce agreement on the table: "Things have come to this point, I don't think there's any need to drag this out any longer."
"Aren't you going to reconsider?"
Shen Yanxi's appearance is like that of a scumbag who is reluctant to get a divorce but also reluctant to give up the glamorous world.
She glanced at the divorce papers and threw them at He Lingchuan's chest: "Are you sure you want to divorce me?"
"I am very certain, absolutely certain."
He Lingchuan had no lingering feelings for him whatsoever.
All he wants now is to escape this misery.
Shen Yanxi looked at the crumpled divorce agreement.
She didn't want a divorce, but his temper and pride wouldn't allow him to say it.
She was unwilling to accept it, as their family dynamic had always been one where the woman was on top and the man was on the bottom.
Even if they really do want a divorce, she should be the one to initiate it.
"Think about it again."
Shen Yanxi hesitated for a long time, and her words made He Lingchuan feel strange.
"You don't mean you don't want me to leave, do you?"
He boldly guessed that Shen Yanxi had suddenly blushed for some reason.
It's a small area, like applying blush.
Don't overestimate yourself.
Shen Yanxi tried to find excuses for herself: "I just don't want the two children to suffer."
It has to be said that He Lingchuan is indeed good at coaxing children.
"Mom, we won't suffer."
He Beichen was the first to rush in. He seemed not to see He Lingchuan and went straight to Zhou Mingyan, bypassing him.
He Nanchen then grabbed Shen Yanxi's wrist and pleaded, "Mom, get a divorce. We want Uncle Zhou."
