Chapter 66 This will not end here.

"Yunxiang, this perfume of yours is truly a fine thing. Let me have a good taste..." Li Huai'an's breathing sounded particularly heavy in the night, and his words were completely unreserved, showing no regard for Zhao Yun's feelings in the bedroom.

Zhao Yun lay on the bed, grinding her teeth in anger, thinking to herself, "Li Huai'an, you put on such a proper act in front of Zhizhi, but what are you really like in private! Humph, you keep saying that you only have my second sister in your heart, but are you even worthy of her?!"

Zhao Yun was so angry that her chest hurt.

Suddenly, Bai Yunxiang's voice became low and urgent, "Master...Master..." Her deliberately lowered voice displeased Li Huai'an, who pinched her waist. "Yunxiang, call out, don't be afraid, Master is here..."

“Ah…Master, Master…” Yunxiang’s voice was sometimes high and sometimes low, sometimes intermittent.

Zhao Yun lay on the bed, her heart burning like fire. She clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug deep into her palms, trying to suppress the emotions that were about to erupt.

She tried to stay calm, but every breath and every teasing word she heard pierced her heart like needles.

The commotion in the side room lasted for quite some time before it subsided.

Zhao Yun stared blankly at the top of the tent. She secretly vowed that she would not let this go.

Li Huai'an didn't want to touch her, did he? She was determined to make him crave her!

The next morning, Bai Wei was preparing to visit Zhang Wan at the Zhao residence with gifts when Zhao Shouzhen arrived first with Zhang Wan.

"Wanwan, what brings you here? I was just about to visit you! How are you feeling?" Bai Wei hurriedly invited the couple into the mansion.

"I'm sorry to have worried you, Sister Bai. I have an old health problem and often feel dizzy. It's alright, don't worry about it." Zhang Wan sat down with Bai Wei in the cool pavilion in the mansion and talked about her plans to settle in Chaoyang County.

"Have you two already made a decision about this?" Bai Wei asked, somewhat surprised.

Zhao Shouzhen nodded. He sat down next to Zhang Wan, held her hand and said, "Wan'er has stayed with me in Lingyang for so long, I should take care of her and let her go back to her hometown to enjoy her old age."

"What about Zhizhi?" Bai Wei asked, frowning. "Have you heard anything from her lately?"

When Zhao Zhi was mentioned, Zhang Wan couldn't help but tear up.

Zhao Shouzhen quickly handed over a handkerchief, scolding, "Why did you start crying so suddenly? Didn't we agree? Don't cry, or Wei'er will laugh at you."

He said to Bai Wei, "Zhizhi is wild and has run off somewhere. We've come here firstly to say goodbye to you and Brother Li, and secondly to tell Yun'er that we're setting off for Chaoyang County today. From now on, we'll be entrusting Yun'er to you and Brother Li."

As he spoke, he bowed slightly.

Bai Wei hurriedly stood up: "No! No! Now that Yun'er has married my son, she is already a member of our Duke's mansion. I will not let her suffer any grievances. I will send someone to call her over right away so we can have a private chat."

“No need.” Zhang Wan raised her hand to refuse. “We won’t see Yun’er, lest we cause her more grief. Shouzheng, let’s go. Let’s leave sooner rather than later, as we’ll be delayed on the road for too long.”

Bai Wei reluctantly saw them off at the gate of the mansion. Once their carriage was out of sight, she suddenly remembered something, turned around, went to Li Huai'an's courtyard, and lifted him from his bed in the side room.

“An’er, your aunt and uncle are about to set off for Chaoyang County. I have some savings here. You should catch up with them quickly and give them the savings quietly. Remember, don’t let anyone see you.”

Li Huai'an was momentarily stunned by his mother Bai Wei's sudden action, but he quickly recovered. He swiftly put on his outer garment, straightened his clothes, and accepted the heavy silver notes his mother handed him, saying:

"Mother, don't worry, I will deliver it secretly and without letting anyone notice. Please take good care of yourself. I will write to you as soon as they settle down to let you know they are safe."

Bai Wei nodded, signaling him to hurry back.

Li Huai'an spurred his horse and galloped quickly to Liujiang Street. There he found only an old servant cleaning the courtyard of the huge Zhao mansion.

"Young Master Li, the master and madam have already left. If you ride fast, you might still be able to catch up!"

Upon hearing this, Li Huai'an immediately mounted his horse, and soon the old servant's frail figure was left far behind.

At the city gate, Li Huai'an could see Zhao Shouzhen and his wife's convoy moving slowly forward in the distance.

He spurred his horse forward and found several people following their caravan at a distance.

Li Huai'an followed Zhao Shouzhen and his wife's entourage, leaving the city gate as if nothing had happened, and walked for a while.

He held his breath, crept closer, and, finding the right moment, swiftly and nimbly jumped onto a wagon loaded with miscellaneous items in the procession.

When the caravan stopped for a short rest near a grove of trees, Li Huai'an seized the opportunity, quietly got out of the car, and went around to the carriage of Zhao Shouzhen and his wife.

He gently knocked on the car window, and Zhao Shouzhen's surprised voice came from inside: "Who is it?"

"Father-in-law, it's me, Huai'an." Li Huai'an lowered his voice, afraid of alerting others.

The car window slowly rolled down, and the uncle and aunt looked surprised to see Li Huai'an. "What are you doing here?" the uncle asked.

“My mother knew you were leaving, so she specifically asked me to bring you some silver notes in case of emergency. Please make sure you accept them, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law.” With that, Li Huai’an handed over the silver notes.

Zhao Shouzhen and Zhang Wan exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with emotion.

Zhang Wan took the silver note and said in a slightly trembling voice, "Huai'an, your mother is so kind. When you go back, please give her our regards and tell her to take good care of herself."

"I will, father-in-law and mother-in-law. Have a safe journey and take care." After saying this, Li Huai'an turned his horse around and headed back to Lingyang City.
