Chapter 2
I have no idea how much of what my fiancé, Illumi Zoldyck, saw on the screen.
I made up my mind that as long as he didn't ask, I would pretend that nothing had happened.
If he asks, I'll pretend nothing happened.
I have nothing to repent for him.
Fortunately, he didn't ask me about the unread messages until the engagement party was over.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
Before I could even exhale completely, I suddenly heard him say, "Come stay at Kukuro Mountain for a while."
I wondered if I'd misheard: "What?"
“Let’s move to Kukuroo Mountain,” he looked at me and repeated, shattering my self-deceptive illusion. “Anyway, the wedding can be held in another six months.”
I declined, saying, "I want to stay home a little longer."
"Is it necessary?" He tilted his head, his tone so calm it was strangely unsettling.
My mother was watching me from my right side.
I gave a stiff smile: "I'm just a little reluctant to leave home..."
The next moment, as expected, the mother immediately said, "You can come back anytime, darling, don't be so homesick."
"Lady Adrian has agreed." Illumi reacted quickly, their coordinated actions as if they had rehearsed, and he gave the final order without room for argument, saying, "Pack your bags in the next couple of days, and we'll depart on Friday."
Today is Tuesday.
“I also happen to have a day off to go home that day,” he added immediately, “I’ll come pick you up.”
That sounds nice, but he's really just forcing me to cooperate with his schedule.
I wanted to refuse, but my mother's piercing gaze was right behind me, so I had to use all my strength to speak, forcing out a smile and a sentence:
"good."
He left satisfied, saying that he had adjusted his mission schedule for the engagement and was now rushing back to complete those missions.
Illumi didn't stay, and all the other guests left as well.
Watching everyone walk out the door, I suddenly felt all my strength drain away, and my shoulders slumped.
My mother patted me on the shoulder and said, "Well done!"
What I wanted was not her praise.
But without her support, I simply couldn't survive in this cannibalistic world.
Moreover, if I anger my mother, that person will also be implicated...
Taking into account the pros and cons, I finally gave my mother a smile as well.
She told me to get some rest, and I nodded. I also feigned concern for her, and only after she left did I silently climb the stair railing back to my room.
The bodyguards opened the door for me and then stood guard at their posts outside my door, never leaving my side.
Without a doubt, their mother must have reiterated that order to them:
I have high hopes for Miss Lei.
I sat in front of the mirror, taking off my complicated hairstyle, my mind wandering as I did so.
"Heh, your hair's turned curly now." A cold, venomous voice suddenly emerged from the shadows, interrupting my empty thoughts.
I was startled and turned around, only to find a man silently hiding in the darkness of the corner.
"You scared me again—" I threw the hair clip in my hand at him forcefully.
He reached out and caught the hair clip, then stepped out of the darkness, bent down in front of the mirror, and hugged me.
His bright red hair intertwined with my black hair.
The expression on his face at this moment looked even more seductive than when he was showing me the Ace of Hearts under the tree during the day and at the banquet at night.
Compared to him, I was like a miniature rag doll. He held me tightly in his arms, picked up a strand of my long hair with his fingers, and said with a smile:
“How beautiful, Miss Adrian.”
His long hair, curled from being styled in a tangled mess all night, was twirled around a strand with his finger. He buried his face in my dark hair and complained:
"He ignored me all night. How heartless."
I looked at the intimate scene in the mirror, unmoved, and kindly reminded him:
"If you insist on using this posture, you will develop cervical spondylosis."
He chuckled and asked, "So, what position does little Laiyi want to use?"
...Who discussed this with him?
“Hisoka,” I had to become serious and solemnly declare to him, “we just happened to meet once at the casino… I admire you, but we’re not a good match, and that’s that. Please don’t come looking for me again.”
He clearly agreed to it himself, and when he pulled up his pants and got out of bed, he said it was a real shame, leaving me standing there and then turning around and running away, without caring at all about whether I lived or died.
Now that he's found out I'm engaged to his friend, he's gotten excited and sneaks into my room in the middle of the night to get aroused.
Thinking about this, I couldn't help but ask, "Are you a pervert?"
"Hmm," the man didn't get angry after being scolded; instead, his eyes narrowed with laughter. "You guessed right, that's me~"
I'm exhausted: "Since you were invited by Illumi, you should know his identity, right?"
"He didn't invite me." At this point, Hisoka's face puffed up angrily again, and he complained, "It's because people heard that he was getting engaged and were curious about what kind of person could catch Illumi's eye, so they paid him five million genie to buy an invitation."
Me: "...If you don't want five million, you can give it to me."
Hisoka laughed again: "Sure, I'll throw in a handsome guy as a bonus!"
As he said the last two words, he winked at the mirror.
I'm a little itchy to do it.
The moment my expression changed, Hisoka noticed, raised an eyebrow, chuckled softly, stuck out his tongue, and nibbled on my ear.
He's actually very good at reading people's expressions, but he's generally not willing to accept things as they are.
Like that night a few months ago, when I gritted my teeth and said I wanted to kill him, he grinned and pinched my cheek, saying, "Not enough, little Lai, try harder~ I still can't feel your killing intent~"
In the end, he shouted even louder than I did.
...Shameless bastard.
A trashy man who only cares about his own pleasure.
I really wanted to kill him.
Unfortunately, I knew from the first time I met him that I didn't have that ability.
He's so much better than me.
The fact that the bodyguards at the door haven't noticed him coming in is the best evidence.
"We're over." Unmoved by his temptation, I tilted my head slightly. He was simply too big; no matter how I moved, I couldn't break free from his embrace. I could only rely on my unwavering resolve to declare, "I'm engaged to Illumi… You don't want to be hunted down by the Zoldyck, do you?"
Hisoka laughed again, this time his whole body was shaking... He was excited again, though it was unclear what he was excited about.
I didn't want to guess what he was thinking anymore, so I just watched him laugh with a blank face.
He rested his chin on my shoulder, the bone digging into me painfully, his handsome cheek pressed against mine, like a snake coiling around its prey, wrapping me tightly.
I could see it clearly in the mirror; there was nothing but coldness in his golden eyes.
“Xiao Yi and I are about the same height~” he said, reaching out to touch the engagement ring I had just put on that evening, teasingly adding, “Oh dear, is his ring the wrong size for you?”
As he spoke, he began to grope my fingers, tentatively trying to remove the ring.
Me: "...Don't touch it."
Hisoka said softly, feigning sadness, "It's really heartbreaking, Rai. If Rai can do it, why can't we?"
"Besides, it's clearly not suitable for you. If it weren't so big..."
While I was racking my brains trying to come up with a reason to reject him, Hisoka seized the moment and suddenly pulled off the ring.
The ring hit the ground with a crisp metallic clang.
Hisoka looked at me innocently and finished his sentence: "...How could I have slipped out like that without even realizing it?"
I:"……"
This pervert...
I resisted the urge to pick up the ring immediately... Who knew he would cause trouble while I was picking up the ring and had no time to look at him!
"Get out." I decided to deal with his insistence on staying in my room first, and said to him coldly.
Hisoka: "No way~"
Me: "Get out!"
Hisoka: "No~ Oh~"
I was furious.
I wanted to question him about why he had to do this tonight, not only slapping Illumi in the face but also Tsutek in the face.
If he wants to die, he can die on his own. Why does he have to drag me into it?
Besides, my moral bottom line isn't that low.
But I couldn't bring myself to say it, because based on my understanding of him, I had a feeling that if I did, he would become even more agitated.
At that point, the situation will become even more out of control.
I don't want to provoke him. If Hisoka goes berserk, I could easily end up on the front page of the news the next day.
I don't want to become the subject of gossip.
I need to think of a way to get this mad dog off me quickly.
I pondered this.

Hisoka! Bad!
Lei, okay.
